First.......all this just to place a “golden moon” on a 2x3/25^ blue brick (#3298)......YES

This looks like an answer to the issue of user control decorations without TLG changing LDD. I will bookmark the post for future reference. Under requirements you did not list PC as the hardware. To my knowledge LDD2POVray is only available to run on MIcrosoft Windows operating system, MAC users are out of luck. So to start the learning curve to get to using this tutorial I must purchase a PC chuck my 27” MAC or go to the “dark side” of the MAC world. The CFO said go dark. That means duel boot on a Intel-based MAC. I have been there before to use a old 1995 CAD product. I will touch base when Im hard into using two operating system to get an image of the golden moon on my space ship. Did I start this with 600096/600816 ?

Awesome work, copyright may not hold up not using your name.

Yes, sorry, I forgot to mention that THIS IS FOR PC AND WINDOWS OS, but it took me one whole day just to make this tutorial, so...some mistakes are maybe still there :sceptic:

Anyway:YOU CAN USE IT JUST WITH POVRAY TOO, do everything as described (all my files in the same dir as your .lxf)just #include my brick .inc file into .pov file, that should be it

Awesome work, copyright may not hold up not using your name.

Thanx :classic:

Once decorated can you load it back into LDD again?

Of course: you do not edit LDD bricks therefore your LDD brick in .lxf stays the same without change, decorations are applied afterwards in POVRay, it does not affect/manipulate/change any brick at all

I was looking for a way to do this... thanks!

Glad to help you a bit...

Is the link to your "dummy" file broken or just down for me?

Hm, that is strange cos when I click on the link it opens up without any problem...? :look:

First off: thanks for this. Really helpful tool!

Is there a way regular folk like myself would be able to make brick templates? If not, could we request them? Looking for 1x3 bricks and double cheese slopes...

No problem - glad to help you a bit.

No, for "regular folk" this is too hard to do, but if you'd tell me exact brick ID I could look into it and possibly make one for you (in case part of the brick having decoration IS NOT CURVED)

Well, I managed to fumble my way around it and created files for parts 3622, 6179, 85984, and 30350 all by myself, so pretty pleased!

Ha - good job!

Sorry, I did not want to underestimated you in no way: I just replay that "average" user most probably won't be able creating his own decors but I am happy you have managed to do that, superb.

Thanks again for this... will you be implementing a version of this for Bluerender I wonder?

No problem.

In fact I already did, it is just no one asked for it to this moment so I am having it just for myself right now...:grin::devil:

Ha, well it took a lot of playing about and figuring which numbers meant what, but it was fun.

I look forward to testing in Bluerender when you decide to release it!

Later I could make new topic for that but first we need to make several main updates to BlueRender which I am completely dived into at the moment so there is not much will to do that topic right now + also I am doing some brand new theme MOC which is hybrid of Space & Castle I've called "Spacastlon" - maybe you've already noticed (2 sets already done and posted on Eurobricks, another 2 are WIP), so the time left is even lower...
