Dragonfire Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 [Notes from the diary of Ravix Cellutor, lieutenant of the 3rd Legion of Ulandus] I have never before been in such a bustling, multi-cultural land, filled with vibrant colours and exotic smells. Our legion, the Sand Wolves, are tasked with keeping Ulandus itself safe, and therefore only really stay inside its borders. However, we have another side: we are the intelligence force, the eyes and ears of Ulandus. And we were sent for by General Latrix Veringetorix and tasked with an important mission. He was currently in the city of Sands End, trying to win the hand of its ruler, Lady Phlici. Being no fool, he knew that his enemies would attempt to prevent the union, so he instructed us to infiltrate the nearby High Council and Desert King strongholds for information. We received shocking news. Both the Desert King and the High Council were sending troops to kill Lat've and therefore eliminate the competition. And what was worse, they were both sending these assassins on the same day: four days from now! We rushed back to Sands End to inform the general. The immediate quandary was: how to defend him when Phlici had banned weapons within the city? We had a solution to this, though. Early that morning, Lat've invited Phlici for a stroll in her favourite place, the tranquil Gardens, one of the only displays of cultivated Avalonian flora in Kaliphlin. As planned, he got down on one knee and offered her a golden ring. She was, naturally, delighted, and accepted at once. This surprise proposal distracted both her and her guards, long enough for us to put our plan into action. Our day was complicated by a traitorous Cresenthorn Elf, who had let the High Council assassins into the city by signal fires. We quickly apprehended him at spearpoint and aimed our crossbows at the window admitting the first of the assassins. With this one dead, hopefully the other mercs would flee. One last twist went unforeseen by us. In all the commotion caused by the HC assassins, we had totally forgotten about the Desert King's merc. He was wilier and smarter than the rest, and had previously infiltrated the city and was lurking in the Gardens, sword drawn. Lat've, heading down to the Gardens early, was taken by surprise; luckily for all of us, he was wielding a hidden gladius and managed to kill his opponent, and hastily conceal his body under some bushes, just seconds before Phlici arrived. Mission successful. Quote
Captain Dee Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 This is a simple build - but I like it because it illustrates your well-written story nicely. You've really crammed the action into a small base. Multi-sided scenes are usually quite a bit bigger and it's surprising to see how well it can be done on a small scale even if it doesn't include a lot of fancy techniques or details. Nice job overall. Quote
Dragonfire Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 It had to be 16x16... I really enjoy cramming the action into a small scene, because I have more minifigures than bricks Quote
Balbo Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Very nice story and creation I really like the posing of the minifigures. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted May 13, 2015 Posted May 13, 2015 I like the stairs on the wall, and the double sided approach illustrates your story nicely Quote
