Commander Turtle Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) "Our drilling team have reached the Awesomnium site in the North Crater. Commander Turtle, your unit will take a fleet of K14 SSTO-tankers so we can ship this fuel up to the satellite station." "Affirmative. Leave it to us." More pictures and commentary: I am super excited to get started with Andromeda's Gates! I'm currently in a foreign land, so my first two weeks are digital. I'm looking forward to doing some more involved builds that mix in a little more story soon, but without my figs that's hard! I figured it was a good chance to use the advantages of digital while I can - unlimited rare parts, and easy duplication. Obviously the inbuilt numbering is different, just to make things difficult Next week's digital build will almost only use parts from my collection, so we'll be able to compare the difference. Anyway, I was trying to channel my inner Nnenn, since his spaceships were just the most beautiful things. Consider this a tribute. First aid kit, and a front-opening cockpit. Profile view. Looks pretty fast even with the blocky cabin! Commander Turtle at his console. The cockpit is quite roomy. And the overhead shot of the build here. 1500+ pieces, ~550 per ship, rendering took forever. Mandatory Flickr link. Edited May 20, 2015 by Commander Turtle Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) Holy shit. This is megablocking gorgeous. Mhhh. those aesthetics are so eye pleasing. The repitition. The identical craft. The way the waves form beneath the ships and the implied motion. Oooh. I'm in love. It's a shame you don't work for Octan. Oh wow. Didn't even realize it was digital at first! ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited May 20, 2015 by Dannylonglegs Quote
Commander Turtle Posted May 20, 2015 Author Posted May 20, 2015 Thank you all very much. I should add that it is actually supported under there since the pics hardly show it. I think it is structurally sound too :) Quote
pombe Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 (edited) Those are beautiful tankers. I love how you capture the motion of the ocean, as well. It creates a very dynamic scene. Edited May 20, 2015 by pombe Quote
Commander Beltar Posted May 20, 2015 Posted May 20, 2015 Amazing Kawashita taker design! Great technique on the waves! Quote
mccoyed Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 This is awesome. Those tankers are sleek, elegant, and aesthetically arresting just like Kawashita designs should be! Quote
robuko Posted May 22, 2015 Posted May 22, 2015 Lovely! I can see the nnenn influence in the wings especially Quote

Gideon Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 (edited) Unfortunately, the image hosting site you are using is not considered safe so I can't view it... (Well, should probably not be on EB on the work computer anyways ) Edit: Saw the "mandatory Flickr link", I guess that it is the solution to the problem? Edited June 8, 2015 by Gideon Quote
shmails Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Extremely cool tankers, they have the perfect mix of space and construction looks. Quote
