Bob De Quatre Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Following our explorers, I decided to explore Xerillian in search of awesomnium deposits. Once again I drove my Beetle recon vehicle. The awesomnium detector immediatly directed me to a remote area, far away from the paths of our explorers. I reached the zone and saw a large rock formation emerging from the desert. As I stopped the Beetle and approched the rock, I discovered that there was in fact two types of minerals interwined. A strange white stone seemed to have lots of awesomnium inclusions in it. I got closer to get a sample of both the awesomnium and that strange white stone. Maybe it will teach us about the formation of awesomnium. What was my surprise when I realized that I've been surrounded by fearsome creatures! They looked like the specimen Big Z brought back from his exploration. I shouldn't have left my gun in the Beetle... Not knowing what to know, I screamed as loud as I was capable of, and after a moment of hesitation, the beasts fled in fear of my mighty roar, making the ground tremble. They should have been much heavier than I first thought. But what is this shadow on the ground? I turned on my left and saw a creature I knew my roar couldn't scare away. I ran toward the Beetle, hoping to reach it with enough distance between my legs and those snapping claws... Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 My word! That is intensely gorgeous! I LOVE that mantis creature! I can totally see that being one of the only waste-walking inhabitants of this planet of otherwise subterranean life! Not only is it perfectly camouflaged for the rock, but also white is an advantagous colour for desert creatures! also it just looks vicous! Well done! Very well done! ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
Jody Meyer Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 This is truly an interesting and a bit of a scary find. Should send out an mobile lab to do some tests on the rocks, maybe some good stuff to extract from. Not sure I would want a matis as a friend just yet though . Awesome build once again, Also love the picture framed with logo idea. Jody. Quote
narbilu Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 First I thought, awesome rockwork.... But then, THE Mantis (love that angle) totally madness man! Quote
mccoyed Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Amazing creature and I love that spire of rock! Quote
Graham Gidman Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Fantastic work, man! This is truly excellent! Quote
rodiziorobs Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 MANTIS strikes again! Very sleek design on the spire, and seriously, that is some great NPU on those fencer masks, how clever! Quote
Yzalirk Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Nice job on the rock! The giant mantis looks too good! Quote
Kai NRG Posted June 6, 2015 Posted June 6, 2015 Fantastic work here, that rock formation is great and the "creature" looks superb! A very amusing storyline too! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 That is an epic rock spire! Terrific "Beetle" design, and alien too Quote
pombe Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Great angled rock! And the mantis is awesome, I love the use of the fencing helmet! Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted June 7, 2015 Author Posted June 7, 2015 Thanks everyone To be honest, the mantis was a very last minute addition. Initialy I planned to have black tentacle appearing from behind the rock. But then friday I got a second CMF fencer, and that happened (I also got a second unicorn girl, but I really don't know what to do with those...) Quote
LittleJohn Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Fantastic work! I love how you tilted the rock formation and the irregular base is excellent Quote
Big Sal Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Great use of the helmet for the eyes! I really love the look on Bob's face And the rock spire is awesome too. Quote
Boxerlego Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Wow, What a good representations about the consuming nature behind the Mantis. Excellent build on top of that! Quote
shmails Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Amazing work Bob! Love the Mantis, and the rockwork is out of this world! Quote
deraven Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 The whole build is excellent, but definitely another vote for the fabulous NPU with the fencing helmet! The mantis is just SO well executed. Quote
Space Terrapin Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Beauty - the giant Mantis pushed this up a level! Very clever use of those fencing mask pieces, highly effective! Quote
MassEditor Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Incredibly imaginative build, much to appreciate here. I love the angled rock spike with the embedded awesomnium bits, as well as that superbly built mantis. That thing looks incredibly creepy, even in LEGO form! The story is quite entertaining too. Excellent stuff! Quote
Zepher Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Just to echo everyone else: beautiful twisted rock formation, and I love the mantis (particularly the eyes). Superb. Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted June 8, 2015 Author Posted June 8, 2015 Thanks guys, still I don't think the mantis deserves all those praises Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 (edited) Thanks guys, still I don't think the mantis deserves all those praises You're totally kidding! it steals the show! Excellent real-life-resembling colour variation, and a delightful NPU on the eyes there! The face is threatening and insectile and alien, and the legs are a work of art! I actually prefer it over-all to the beetle space buggy, which is lovely in its own rights! Although, I'll admit.. I do have a weakness for Insectoid creatures. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited June 8, 2015 by Dannylonglegs Quote
