kabel Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Right across Tradwind Bay in Arnarvhall a strange fire had been seen by the men serving as guards on the Thorshaven city wall. The fire on the other side was becoming bigger and bigger until they finally realized that a beacon had been lid. And beacons were only lid in dire emergency. Something really had to be happening in Mitgardia somewhere, and it seemed as if the rumors of invaders coming from the North were all true: The Algus had come! In Thorshaven they hadn't really put much effort into building a beacon, and it was only by the intervention of Elon himself that they had constructed one in the first place, never believing it would ever be lid. But now the fire on top of that strange tower was burning and the people of Thorshaven were dumbstruck! Quote
Lord Vladivus Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Nice! Is this part of a new Thorshaven module? Quote
Garmadon Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Very nice tower and beacon kabel! The arrow-slits and arches are excellent and good work with the crenelations as well! Quote
mccoyed Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 In Thorshaven they hadn't really put much effort into building a beacon Great beacon, Kabel. I like the classic Lego look of the tower and those statues on the crenellations are a nice touch. Quote
LittleJohn Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Great beacon! The fire effect is great and I like the angle of the second picture Quote
kabel Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 thanks dudes! @LV: yes, it actually is. But I might redo the tower, somehow it doens't look as good on the pics as I had hoped it would. Quote
mrcp6d Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 But I might redo the tower, somehow it doens't look as good on the pics as I had hoped it would. Looks good to me kabel. The only thing I might do differently is to use inverted corner pieces in the, uh, corners if you've got them. The old grey, few texture bricks, and the windows break it up just enough to avoid the Big Grey Wall Syndrome. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 That crenelation design looks so pretty I very much like the basic architecture for the tower too, your varied windows, statues, and beacon itself add enough variety for me Quote
Captain Dee Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 First, the beacon itself: it's a very neat, clean design and would have to be highly visible atop such a tall tower. The volume of fire looks appropriate for the intended function. The tower design is pretty basic but it still looks good with the small variation in color and texture. The microfigs on the corners are a neat touch and the different windows and arches are nice. I would like a full overview photo but I understand the limited presentation if it's part of something bigger. Good work. Quote
MassEditor Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 The spread of light in the approaching darkness is a hopeful sign, perhaps Mitgardia will be warned in time to meet the Algus and send them back to their frozen wastelands. The thoughts of the free people of Nocturnus are with Mitgardia in these disturbing times. OoC: Nice build and beacon design kabel, but you tease us with these limited shots! Have you been finding much time to add to Thorshaven? Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Good to see Thorshaven is still expanding. Can't wait to see it at Brickmania again Quote
kabel Posted June 15, 2015 Author Posted June 15, 2015 I know I've done better before, so thanks mates for commenting anyways ... @mrcp: if I had those corner pieces in light bley I surely would have added them. I've just never come across them in that particular color. @ME: well what to say, I've been renovating an old house since the beginning of march, so there was little time for Lego. I build with real bricks instead! But anyway, yes this is part of a Thorshaven module I hadn't posted yet. It's not fully done though, that's why I had to take that angled shot there! @Eccs: now that I have a car to sleep in as well as to transport a whole lot more with I'm sure we'll have tons of fun at the BMA again! IenjoyLego89 Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Cool beacon! The minifig facial expression really adds to the scene Quote
Balbo Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Very nice work! I love the fire effect. Furthermore the roof is great, too Quote
