Zepher Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 [Log Entry III - Lesser Direstan] I wonder what a planet must do to be bequeathed the name "Lesser Direstan". We raced by Greater Direstan so quickly I never got a chance to see what made it so great. After two and half hard weeks on Lorstan II I was awoken abruptly by the sound of a Seraphim overhead - not an strange sight, though this one was flying particularly close. Expecting my bi-daily supply drop I prepared to go retrieve the material in my trusty vehicle, but much to my surprise instead of supplies two men dropped from the sky. One introduced himself as Commander Commander (when I inquired further into his name he told me the Kawashita was the way of discipline). When I explained that without the great human virtue of curiosity - ignorance is the curse of God; knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven - it is likely that we would still not know of the Gates, he said "Curiosity killed the cat". Receiving orders from his radio he explained the Corporate's First Branch (which I am informed only then that I am a part of - an error I allow to slide but am sure to remember - such is the way of bureaucracy I fear and lo' now I too am a part of it!) is making a move to Lesser Direstan. I ask if we have made Lorstan livable yet, if the brave colonists to follow will have the appropriate drinking water. My pleas for answers go unmet. I am shipped away with the driver ("Grumps") and put aboard a ship and before I know it I'm on Lesser Direstan. A brief comes in paper form, and I am given a new ship, which "Grumps" calls a "Cavefish". I doubt this is the true name of my machine, but I admire his jargon. He pushes me out on my own with a "good luck". My mission is... similar to my previous one. I fly along the coast, alone. My "Cavefish" searches the ocean below me - along the coast are a number of caves right below the ocean floor, filled with fresh water which we may mine for our sustenance. I have never heard of such a thing before - fresh water caves below the ocean! What a wonderful place this universe of our's is! The "Cavefish" has a red light when there is a cave below. I think this is rather silly since this is the color for "stop" back at University, but the big wigs over rule me. The land is beautiful, home to many strange red and white mushrooms and trees. I sail alongside cliff sides over wine-colored water, and am reminded once more of the nursery rhymes my mother once read me. Red fish, blue fish, One fish, two fish. aeralure Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Really like the Cavefish's lower hull and engine especially. Also the part usage for the fauna. Quote
shmails Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Great colors and the cavefish is really neat! Quote
Blackhawk STX Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 That Cavefish is a neat little build! Bigger isn't always better... Quote
Zepher Posted June 15, 2015 Author Posted June 15, 2015 Absolutely beautiful color scheme you've got going on there. Thanks so much! It was inspired by my teammates' lovely builds! EpsilonEta and Beltar get all the credit on that front. Really like the Cavefish's lower hull and engine especially. Also the part usage for the fauna. Thanks so much! I've seen a lot of lovely Kawashita builds with cool curves, and I wanted to work with that. Great work and use of hats! Haha, thank you! I wanted to do it with hair at first, but I didn't have enough. I think the hats are pretty funny though! Quote
Space Terrapin Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Cool cavefish there - it sort of reminds me of some of the better Atlantis sets from a few years back. Well done! Quote
pombe Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 Regarding the build: you have fantastic parts usage! Regarding the story: you tell a great story which includes other builds, and really invoke what it feels like to be part of Kawashita. Quote
