narbilu Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 :: Unexpected recovery log :: The lifeless planet of Guinevere is the next stop in the Kawashita path in Andromeda. This steaming planet is worth exploring from a distance at first. Streams of boiling stone in the cracks of dark stone. The probe searches the area for a decent stock of resources when the scanner blinks. Narbilu checks the report of the scanner. Biomass, a life form. Somehow fauna of some sort seems to adapted itself to grow in these circumstances. Oxygen levels are acceptable, so it is time to drop ship and discover this for ourselves. Quote
aeralure Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 The lava and dark stone is really well done and I think the vegetation looks fantastic. Quote
Commander Turtle Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I like the way the yellow makes it seem to glow, this is a good quality build. Quote
Dardanel Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 The build is very cool :D I like the mushrooms? a lot : ) Did you paint the white parts or is this from some official set? Quote
Dardanel Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Those decals on those 2x2 round plates/dishes that serve as mushrooms :D Quote
narbilu Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 Those are in several boxes. Ewok city for instance. Quote
Zaael Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Those decals on those 2x2 round plates/dishes that serve as mushrooms :D http://www.bricklink...asp?P=4740pb009 Quote
pombe Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 While the lava and rock work are fantastic, it's the flora that is absolutely phenomenal in this build. The look and feel is so alien and dangerous! Quote
Dardanel Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Never saw those :D And when I checked bricklink I could only find this one http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=4740&in=S&colorID=69&ov=Y so I thought it was custom, which would be a very nice touch imo :D Probably should learn to search better :D Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 This is a really really lovely build! Your colour choices and colour control are fabulous! Those dark red vines and dark tan tendrils are just gorgeous! And I love the bottom lighting! I think every Gueniveir build so far has had it! ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
narbilu Posted June 17, 2015 Author Posted June 17, 2015 And I love the bottom lighting! I think every Gueniveir build so far has had it! ~Insectoid Aristocrat I didn't use any lights or photoshop... just bricks Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 I didn't use any lights or photoshop... just bricks Oh, wow, just looked at it on a larger screen! I didn't even notice it wasn't bottom-lit! That's the power of trans-neon-orange for you! Great colour choice! ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
mccoyed Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 That yellow base for the lava is just inspired. It really does create a facsimile of the lighting effect some builders get by lighting trans bricks from below! Quote
Mark of Falworth Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Looking good! That Lava is ace! Nice to see the volcanic side of the planet! Quote
mrcp6d Posted June 17, 2015 Posted June 17, 2015 Lovely alien landscaping! The tan tentacle plant really stands out. Quote
LittleJohn Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Excellent entry! I really like the plants and the lava is great too Quote
Space Terrapin Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Great use of colour contrast, it really does look like it's glowing from below. Marvellous! Quote
rodiziorobs Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 Great illusion using yellow bricks under the 'glowing' lava! Quote
David FNJ Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 The thorny landscape looks great here! Great job with the lava as well! Quote
shmails Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Wonderfully creepy feel here. Between the lava, the foliage, and the rocks it is a real complete landscape. Nice work! Quote
NuckElBerg Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 Great work creating the lava and the plants, took a lot of inspiration from it in my Challenge 1 build! Quote
