NuckElBerg Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 (edited) [K - B06] More Than Meets the Eye... Tags: Building, Structure, Kawashita This week's build clocks in at 1750 pieces and is hopefully the beginning of a longer arching story arc featuring... well, read the story and you will get an idea. As you can see from the renders, I tried using Bluerender for the first time. I think it worked quite nicely. C&C always appreciated! Also, to the judges, note that I bought Domination for Dummies in the Kawashita Dojo thread before posting this. Thanks! --//Recording of a private conversation. Date: 2906(38)15. Scramble code: rHJKjfanfal73Lj2ljnnkm.//-- Aera: Colonel Q, this is Aera Lure, do you copy? Q: I read you Aera, what is it? Aera: During last week's science mission on Sorn, we sent out a number of probes to scan its seas. It's probably nothing significant, but one of them just came across what looks like an old Awsomnium Generator lying in a crater in the middle of nowhere. Based on the state of the generator and the plant life, it's been there for quite a while. Q: Send me the video and the scans. Aera: Done. It's probably nothing of interest Sir. My guess is that it's just the rests of some old power station for one of the 'Gates' indigenous spec... Q: Switch over to a alpha level security channel, authorization code 830Q7b immediately. Aera: Sir, wh... Q: Now. [Alpha level clearance check... ... ... Passed. Resume playback of recording.] Aera: Sir, what is happening? Q: Aera, send a special retrieval team, authorization code 337QoP19, to retrieve everything within a 10 meter spherical radius of the "Generator". Deliver it to my private engineering bay at the Kaiju. Do not, I repeat, do not go through any conventional channels regarding this operation. Aera: Sir, protocol states that The Board shall receive a memo of all use of special forces... Q: Leave the rest of The Board out of this for now. I will brief them of the situation when I deem it neccesary. Aera: Sir, if you could just tell me what is going on, please...? Q: Look, Aera, I'm sorry, but for now, all I can tell you is that it would be best if you just do what I just told you, try to forget about this whole thing, and then lie low for a while. Any more information than that could put you in grave danger, and I really, really do not wish that upon you. Is this acceptable to you? Aera: Yes Sir, absolutely. Consider it done. --//Recording of a private conversation stop. Scramble code: rHJKjfanfal73Lj2ljnnkm.//-- --//Alpha Level Encrypted Private Log Begin. Date: 2906(38)15. Scramble code: ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... [Encrypted].//-- [Alpha level clearance check... ... ... ... ... Passed. Resume playback of recording.] It's not hard to see why Aera had the hunch that she had. At a first glance, it does look like any old ruin, and the machine still contains Awsomnium, plus several parts of a modern Awsomnium generator. However, if my suspicions are correct, there is far more to this "Awsomnium generator" than meets the eye... You see, there are a couple of things that are a bit off in this picture. First of all... where is the rest of the building? There are parts scattered all over the place, but these buildings used to be huge, and contain all kinds of different sections. At least some of it should be left somewhere. This becomes particularly interesting when you combine it with the fact that the site is perfectly spherical, even to the extent that the sensors say there are parts of a building underneath in a perfect sphere which eminates from the center of the machine, and in the middle of nowhere. Finally, while this machine seem to be able to generate a lot of energy from Awsomnium, the scans reveal that there doesn't seem to be any kind of part which actually extract it... It's going to take a lot of effort to restore this machine physically, and on top of that even more to find a way to interface with it. However, if my theories are correct, we are on the verge of possibly the largest breakthrough in the history of mankind... --//Alpha Level Encrypted Private Log End. Signature: Col. QL. Scramble code: ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... [Encrypted].//-- Thank you for reading, additional pictures and comments under the (third) spoiler button! The probe, zoomed in. I've started to use outlines in LDD now. Looks kinda nice in the screenshots in my opinion... ...especially the fish. The core of the machine, with the outer layer stripped away (note that it's supposed to look worn and battered ). Some rubble. The build from above. So, figured out what the machine does yet? Zaael Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 It's a chessboard machine! No? Hmm, no idea what it does, but I can't wait to find out next week! Nice build!! Quote
Commander Turtle Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 It's an awesomnium... thingy... Very nice work, I like how some bars are askew to show the decay. Quote
Jody Meyer Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 I would chess thingy as well, but I'll go with under water core drill or extractor of some kind. Really nice build and story. How did you enhance the LDD lines. Cheers Jody. Quote
EpsilonEta Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 (edited) First, it look really good and “worn down”. Second, I'm pretty sure I know what it does but saying it might spoil the fun for other. Hey lets use the spoiler tag for actually hiding a spoiler!! I think it have teleported a spherical area around the core. Just have to find the rest of the machine somewhere. Even better if its a time machine and the rest of the machine have either rusted away long ago or not been built yet I was a little surprised when Aera said it was probably not important. Even if it just generate energy from awesomnium and we can do the same it's still built by aliens (but then we have meet several aliens already) As fore the “possibly the largest breakthrough in the history of mankind...” you have to beat the super secret thing Raven found on Lesser Direstan. I will get back to that when there is less need for tactical builds. Edited June 29, 2015 by EpsilonEta Quote
aeralure Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 Great build! I really like the rods in the reactor and the reactor build itself. Thanks for the cameo too. Looks like a teleporter to me. I was a little surprised when Aera said it was probably not important. Me too! Quote
NuckElBerg Posted June 29, 2015 Author Posted June 29, 2015 Thanks guys! @Jody: It's under preferences, "highlight outlines", I think it's called. @Epsilon and Aera: Well, I didn't mean to be rude towards Aera! It's like you said about the aliens, we have already met quite a few of them, especially with Narbilu's build this week, so I figured it would be like finding an old Awsomnium generator would be like finding an old coal or oil plant here on Earth... Big Sal Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 I'll bet it's the source of all the scorpions and worms Whatever it is, it's an awesome build, great job! Quote
Mike S Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Great build! No idea what it is but it is definitely one awesome machine! Quote
mccoyed Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 That's an awesome build. Love the cool mystery of it, too. Quote
