In my own headcanon, Corphos is an insane and relentless mask collector who travels Okoto seeking out masks to add to his own private collection. His methods of obtaining them are not what you call "stealthy", instead preferring to use his 4 bladed Mask Ripper staff to literally rip the masks off anybody he comes across. Though on occassion he will disguise himself as a Toa or a Skull Villain in an attempt to be able to infiltrate certain locations. On this occcasion, after ripping the masks off a few Skull Warriors and a Skull Scorpio, he took their armour and put it on himself in an attempt to ultimately infiltrate the Mask Forge, befriend Skull Grinder Kulta and steal the Mask of Creation.

So basically, this MOC came about after I bought an extra Skull Warrior and Skull Basher and was fiddling around with possible alternate builds for my sigfig at the same time, and I ended up with Corphos.

Comments and constructive criticism are welcome :classic:

Thanks!

Very very cool. I'm dying to know how those hands are done. From the parts used it doesn't look like it should even be holding together.

I whipped up a quick LXF showing how the hands are built. If you're willing to pull an illegal building technique, this can make a compact 4 fingered hand, examples can be seen on my other MOC's Psycho and Katryna, the latter being the pioneer of this particular hand design. Despite how it looks, once it's built it holds together really well, and the bit that holds the weapons can also be removed without affecting the rest of the hand :classic:

The unwanted clips can be banished if you're willing to cut some flex cable into 1M segments.

Very neat! It really shows how great the new armor parts can be even on a much bulkier build. Love the use of the Chima spider legs, as well.

My first reaction to this was a 'holy hell' said out loud. I LOVE the way that you made this guy bulky. He does indeed look evil, even after you integrated lots of trans-bright-blue into him.

Awesome MOC. The people in the other topic talking about how CCBS is not conducive to larger MOCs ought to give this guy a look. He's also a great demonstration of how even with a similar mask, color scheme, and other motifs to an existing set, a MOC can still feel like an entirely unique character if you give it its own physique. I'm sure if you took it to a convention you'd still get kids insisting it's a Skull Warrior revamp (just like how kids continue to think my MOC Caitlyn Gauss XL is a Furno XL revamp), but most people will probably be able to tell it's a character of its own.

I really love the hands, feet, and shoulders!

I mean, if they're still refusing to believe such a thing is true, depsite the mountains of existing evidence to the contrary, I don't think convincing them otehrwise is possible at this point.

This MOC is amazing, BTW. It almost defeats conversation itself when all you can say is "it's perfect!" Those hands are incredible, as are the staff and colourscheme especially.

Well, I certainly didn't expect ol' Corphos to go down this well in the community, I got to say I'm flattered. It's already become my most faved MOC ever on Flickr and the response here and on BZP has been very positive. I'll almost have to make a "Toa" Corphos in the same vein (read the bio in the original post and what I just said will make sense then). All I can say is thanks for the replies

Oh, and maybe I should add this given this seems to be the hot debate of the month: I'm terrible at MOC'ing with entirely Gen 1 parts, I could never make anything that looked half decent when I used to have loads of it. I'd actually go as far as to say that CCBS has actually made me a better MOC'er, so yeah, I'm primarily in the CCBS camp

There's definitely a lot of parts not in the skull villain sets, most notably the staff handle.

Thanks! One Very Agile Cat is right, only about 20% of this MOC is actually parts from the Skull Villain sets, and most of it is just used for armour and aesthetic choices. Almost the entire inner structure is built with parts not found in the Skull Villain sets, but most of the parts used for the inner structure are actually quite common CCBS and Technic parts.

Thank u very much for the explanation, I have 3 bionicle 2015 sets and 2 older hero factory sets so CCBS should be no problem i guess, i also have bought the 42032 for technic pieces...

ill see what i can build with that :)

is it also wise to purchase some of the older i.e chima CCBS sets for extra parts etc?

sorry for al the noob questions XD

Honestly, the more post-2010 Constraction sets (the CCBS ones) you can get, the better. The later CCBS sets (and especially the new Bionicle sets about to come out) tend to have more Technic in them, and that's given me quite a healthy supply of Technic without me buying any Technic sets. The Chima CCBS sets are quite good for parts if you can pick them up cheaply, the 2014 Chima CCBS sets especially have great parts selections if you can get them (some are used in this model). You can get bulk lots of CCBS from eBay or specific parts from Bricklink as well which may be cheaper than amassing lots of sets for parts.
