Wedge09 Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Fishing... Along with hunting and agriculture, fishing is also important in the people's lives here in the mountains. In the tumultuous rivers flowing down the mountains, there is an abundance of fish and, when creating these artificial barriers to harness the power of the river, you will also create lakes perfect for fishing. Even Alexander Vandangant, although it isn't one of his favorite things to do, sometimes goes fishing, so that in the evening meal there is fish on the table. However, when the fresh breeze is blowing, the sun is warm and all is quiet, Alexander tends to "wander off"... = = = = = = = = = Hello all, finally I'm back building for the Guilds of Historica! Quite a time passed but I'm appy to be here again! This is my first entry for the Historica Husbandry; while following the main scope of the challenge, "show your character procuring, processing, or delivering, food somehow", I tried to add a bit of humor to the situation! Thanks soccerkid6 for putting it up and inspiring me on the spot! Enjoy! Quote
Captain Dee Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 This is a cute little relaxing setting... and my kind of fishing, too! The terrain, water and vegetation all look nice. I like the dam and sluice gate, and the access gate atop the dam is fine. There are a few things to consider. First, you might want to ask the powers that be to change the title to include some reference to the challenge to help keep things organized. I suppose something like [HH] would do the trick. Secondly, the water is really shallow behind the dam. It would probably be more realistic if it was quite a bit deeper - even if it cut into the border. And finally, this almost seems too relaxing for the nature of the challenge, which is a food shortage. There's nothing wrong with showing him snoozing, but his efforts would seem a little more serious if he had several fishing poles rather than just one. Or perhaps you could include several fish that he'd already caught; that would certainly be a serious effort. I realize you wanted this to be humorous, and it's fine that way, but perhaps it should be a little more serious at the same time! I do like your creation, and I hope this is helpful. Nice work and keep on building. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Glad to inspire you! The dam looks great, I like the release gate Lovely landscape per usual as well, and the snoozing fisherman definitely adds some humor Quote
Jorrith Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Neat build! It sure looks relaxing to fish there! Quote
LittleJohn Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) Very nice entry, Wedge! I love that you included an underwater section and the pail of water for him to put fish in was a great touch Edited August 4, 2015 by LittleJohn Quote

Nice work and keep on building. Thanks for the feedback but: 1) about the topic header I followed the challenge direction, so it's better if you say so to the organizer of the challenge. 2) After all is in a mountain river and it isn't a lot deep and we are in medieval times so the don't create big and deep dam 3)Anyone said that in difficult times you can't laugh or relax a bit? ;) Beautiful build! Nice build! I like the dry river bed! Neat build! It sure looks relaxing to fish there! Very nice entry, Wedge! Captain Dee Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Perhaps I take things too seriously. Just one fish is better than none, aye? No question, this is a lovely composition. Quote
