Dannylonglegs Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 (edited) Planet: E11 Tags: Science, Spaceship, Land Vehicle In an undisclosed location in MANTIS space.... Big Sal: "Ah! Accountant Long is driving me up the wall! I can't believe her last assignment!" Dave from accounting: "Well what'd she ask you to do?" Big Sal: "She tasked me with building a scientific spy satellite." Dave: "That doesn't sound too bad." Big Sal: "It wasn't challenging at all! We have kits of those things! She wouldn't even let me add a death ray to it! That's hardly scientific." Dave: "That doesn't sound too bad." Big Sal: "Well, instead of a death ray, I added a huge honking rear engine and an array of grabber arms and some other hidden defensive and offensive capabilities!" Dave: "Cool." Big Sal: "I call it the Gunless Noiseless Asteroid Tacker, or GNAT!" ................................. Later, in the asteroid fields of E11..... Big Sal: "Alright... GNAT is nearing target..." Big Sal: "What the blazes?! Is that a giant space Panda holding a Vacuum?!" ........................................ "Log date 433, This is Dr. Danielle Long checking in from aboard my Personal Asteroid Navigation Defense Armour, or O-AN1PMAc555D. I've been informed that there's supposed to be an acronym in the vessel's name, but Acronym's are hardly scientific, and unauthorized use of acronyms can easily result in miscommunication and a subsequent drop in efficiency and work-place harmony, and therefore are subject to a rigorous approval process. I don't believe I approved an acronym for the AN1PMAc555D. Semantics aside, I am currently among the asteroids of E11, planting the Metal Eater bacterium on a host asteroid. I mean to test the viability of E11's asteroids as a growth medium for the Axle's gene-manipulation Labs' newest product. We've developed this fascinating organism, the Metal Eater Bacterium, to be a safe and nutritious source of Biomass for our valued employees. Once I have seeded this asteroid, we will track it and examine the growth habits of the bacterium natural void conditions. Almost done now. Dr. Long signing off." As usual, better pictures pending. I'm back in the saddle, baby! To be clear, the Mech can freely fly in space, but can also crawl/walk on larger asteroids, and therefor counts as both a land vehicle, and a space vehicle. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited May 16, 2016 by Dannylonglegs Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 To be clear, the Mech can freely fly in space, but can also crawl/walk on larger asteroids, and therefor counts as both a land vehicle, and a space vehicle. That's true! And they can also swin, so let's give a second spaceship tag!... No seriously... Quote
Aliencat Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Wait where did this panda get that vacuum cleaner? Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted September 28, 2015 Author Posted September 28, 2015 That's true! And they can also swin, so let's give a second spaceship tag!... No seriously... You don't agree? That was the original idea behind the mech (can't swim. ) just count it as one then. I don't mind much which you think is most accurate. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Well, it's in space, so lets just gice it the spaceship tag, and not the land vehicle one. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted September 28, 2015 Author Posted September 28, 2015 Well, it's in space, so lets just gice it the spaceship tag, and not the land vehicle one. Sure. that's fine with me. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
SpacerSteve Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 That is a great mech suit despite how it was tagged. What is with the Octan pandas this week? I'm curious how a Vacuum works in the vacuum of space. awesome build this week. Quote
Kodan Black Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Nice build and great that there are more Pandas in play. I'm not sure if all the pandas are related or not, but I do know that pombe and I used pandas independent of each other and for us it was pure coincidence. Quote
pombe Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 Pandas are so kawaii! We should totally have a panda faction! Quote
mediumsnowman Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Neat build! Is there any sort of control area inside for Dr. Long to sit? Quote
Andromedas Gates Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 The judges awarded you 4 points. Quote
LittleJohn Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Excellent work here, I love the panda Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted October 4, 2015 Author Posted October 4, 2015 (edited) Thanks all! BETTER PICTURES ARE FINALLY UPLOADED. This build was directly inspired by Kodan's where he gave Dr. Long a hallucinatory Panda. I gave her a real one! my decision was solidified by the coincidence of both Pombe and Kodan deciding to include Pandas, and then confirmed by Ender's Red Panda Mech. There is a seating area inside, as the pictures now display. Not much in terms of display screens, but there is one that's not visible from the outside. "Vacuum" is definitely inspired by AlienCat. Furries with Vacuums just makes sense. Also, to clarify, it's not an actual Vacuum, but rather a "spray bottle" for the bacteria she is inoculating the asteroid with. Vacuums wouldn't work in space... at least not without some serious ingenuity. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited October 4, 2015 by Dannylonglegs Quote
