Governor Mister Phes Posted October 6, 2007 Governor Posted October 6, 2007 AAAAAAAAR HAAAAAA!!! A wicked web of wool! That's quite an innovative use of something cheap and abudant. You must have nimble fingers Captain Green Hair for if I attempt to do such a thing I'd be in a complete tangle. Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted October 6, 2007 Governor Posted October 6, 2007 Ah yes... I see.... Captain Green Hair's hair is made from green wool is it not? Quote
Opproperaar Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 (edited) What a nice, neat little ship. I especially admire the rigging and above all the stern, so nice and detailed for such a small ship. Thumbs up for some wicked work *y* Though I prefer the normal, standard LEGO ladder to be used on the side of a ship instead of the one you used. Also, why did you name a VOC ship an English name? :-/ ;-) Edited October 6, 2007 by Hairy Ruben Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 Fabulous! Are you going to make a story about is? Because it looks a lot like a British ship, and it deserves a good tale. Quote

It's actually 'de gele dief', but you guys wouldn't understand :-D Fabulous! Are you going to make a story about is? Because it looks a lot like a British ship, and it deserves a good tale. Yes, i based it loosely on the surprise, when my island is done i'm going to make comics. Ah yes... I see.... Captain Green Hair's hair is made from green wool is it not? No it's green cotton thread, not so fuzzy X-D Quote
Asuka Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 Very nice, with neat proportions, a very cool rigging and a fine stern. Good work! *sweet* Quote
El Bucanero Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 A beautiful ship with beautiful rigging. I find it really amazing you managed to make a ship like THIS on the small hull. Great job! Although, small nitpick, I still think, it would be better if you made custom cannons. But it is fine as it is now! G Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted October 6, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted October 6, 2007 Let me start by saying that I like this ship a lot. It's awesome. It is one of the best ships of this size that I've seen. The details are amazing. Especially the stern looks great! I have plans to make a ship on these hulls pieces myself and I will need to borrow some of your ideas. Does this one have 3 mid-sections? Now that's said, there are 3 things I would change... 1. I would replace those grey things (are they called crow nests?) in the mast by black ones. 2. Make the small red line yellow. 3. Changes those things in the front (what are they called?) into yellow. Now there are a bit too much different colors IMO. Here is a rough preview with some of these changes: Quote

It has 2 midsections, if you need help, you know where to find me :-) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 6, 2007 Governor Posted October 6, 2007 No it's green cotton thread, not so fuzzy X-D Well it looks like wool at first glance! :-P It's actually 'de gele dief', but you guys wouldn't understand :-D Do you explain so we can understand... Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted October 6, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted October 6, 2007 It has 2 midsections, I would have guessed it had 3 midsections... That's good because I only have 2 midsections myself :-) if you need help, you know where to find me :-) In Amsterdam? 8-| Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted October 6, 2007 Author Posted October 6, 2007 Gele dief = yellow thief:) Well it looks like wool at first glance! :-P Do you explain so we can understand... Opproperaar Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 Aah the joys of speaking Dutch, wonderful, no? I mean the ladders TLC uses on their ships as a standard. The same type of side ladders on the BSB I think ;-) I always use those, they look simpler and more authentic. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 6, 2007 Governor Posted October 6, 2007 Gele dief = yellow thief *wacko* I wasn't asking for a translation but never mind! No just PM me and maybe i can explaine some of the technique used... How come you can't explain in the thread? Is it a secret? Quote

Ok, i don't like those, i think it should have more horizontal lines, and they're too short. If they'd change that, then maybe i'd use them. I also like the realism of string rigging, but it's just a thing of personal taste i guess *sweet* Thank you all for your nice comments! I wasn't asking for a translation but never mind! How come you can't explain in the thread? Is it a secret? Nope, but i'v taken pictures of the techniques used, so i can mail them. Could start a tutorial too though............... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 6, 2007 Governor Posted October 6, 2007 Yes, create a tutorial if you want to! We love tutorials! And if it's good we shall index it. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted October 6, 2007 Author Posted October 6, 2007 What about should it be? Hull building? Rigging? Sails? Or just shipbuilding in general? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted October 6, 2007 Governor Posted October 6, 2007 We already have a Making Sails Tutorial but nothing specifically on rigging. So maybe rigging is the way to go! Take a look at our Tutorials page to see what we already have. Quote
