Challenge 3: Space & Time distorsion

After having spent months in the Andromeda Galaxy, the courageous explorers of the three corporations started to feel safe. They conquered the rough and various environments of most of the planets without encountering real threat to their missions. But the biggest danger is the Galaxy itself! A few days ago, the massive blackhole at the center of the galaxy started to emit waves of energy that affected both machines and minifigs. People experienced mental confusion and short term amnesia. Some woke up in a different place, and spoke of a different time...

Category A – Different Space

Rebuild a previous AG creation from another player from another corporation as if he/she was part of your corporation. The new and original builds must be similar in shapes and functionnality but not identical.

Judging:

Entries will be judged between 1 and 8. Additionnaly, 0 to 2 points will be awarded for the improvements of the original build (techniques, photography, etc...).

Rewards:

Winner will receive 50 credits, the corporation of the winner receives an additional 10 gold, 10 copper and 10 mithril.

Winning corporation will receive 200 awesomnium, 100 water, 100 biomass, 10 gold, 10 copper and 10 mithril.

Category B – Different Time

Rebuild one of your previous AG creation as if you choose another corporation. Your sigfig must be present with its new colors. The new and original builds must be similar in shapes and functionnality but not identical.

Judging:

Entries will be judged between 1 and 8. Additionnaly, 0 to 2 points will be awarded for the improvements of the original build (techniques, photography, etc...).

Rewards:

Winner will receive 50 credits, the corporation of the winner receives an additional 10 gold, 10 copper and 10 mithril.

Winning corporation will receive 200 awesomnium, 100 water, 100 biomass and 10 gold, 10 copper and 10 mithril.

Rules for all categories:

• All rules in the General Rules thread apply unless otherwise.
  
• Players will earn credits according to their score.
  
• There is no size restriction.
  
• Entries' posts must contain a link to the original build.
  
• The challenge will run from November 16th to January 10th. As long as it is still January 10th somewhere in the world, you can still enter.
  
• Entries posted after the deadline will be disqualified from the challenge and will not be scored.
  
• Entries will be judged according to the General Rules.
  
• This challenge is open to all players of Andromeda's Gates, even if they joined EB or signed up for the game after the challenge has begun; the Andromeda's Gates staff, EB admins and moderators are not eligible to win prizes but may earn credits.
  
• All entries must be new creations, not posted anywhere else prior to being entered in the challenge. You may be asked by a staff member to change your entry if it is too similar to an earlier creation.
  
• All entries must be built from real LEGO or with Lego Digital Designer. No clone brands, no third-party custom parts.
  
• All entries must be posted as a new topic in the Andromeda's Gates subforum, the title prefixed by, "[Challenge 3][Cat X]". (For example, "[Challenge 3][Cat A] Vessel name".)
  
• Post pictures no larger than 1000x720, as specified in the EB Member Guidelines.
  
• For obvious reasons, any photo editing that changes the shape, functionality, or color (not tint or adjustment, but actual color) of a LEGO piece is prohibited.
  
• All entries are considered WIPs (Works In Progress) until the deadline passes. Until the deadline has passed, you are allowed to change and improve your MOC.
  

Choosing a previous build:

You can choose a build among all the weekly builds and Challenge 2 builds. Remember that the player index has links to every builds for all the players.

Alien builds:

Aliens are allowed to compete in all categories categories. Aliens player should rebuild a corporation's build as an Alien build for Category A. For Category B, corporation players can rebuild their previous build as an Alien build.

Winning a category with an alien build will only award credits.

Domination and resources:

Domination points and resources will be awarded to the corporation depicted in the build, which is not necessarily the corporation the builder belongs too. For example, if an Octan player rebuilds a creation as if he had joined Kawashita, Kawashita would receive the domination points and resources, though the Octan player would receive credits as usual.

Determining winning corporation

For each category, the corporation score is calculated by adding 0.2 point for each participant to the average of all the participant's scores. The winning corporation for category is the one with the highest score.

Overall winner

The corporation which scored most points, all categories scores added together, wins the challenge and will receive an additional: 50 gold, 50 copper and 50 mithril.

My sigfig is dark blue. Does that color have to change in category B?

There have always been some freedom in sigfig colors... But an Octan white minifigs would look strange as part of Kawashita or Mantis.

One of the coolest things with this callenge would be to see new versions of sigfig so I definitly think you should change it. That armor exist in both green and red

I've updated the rules. I also added a paragraph stating that you can choose a build among the weekl builds and Challenge 2 builds

for cat B, does the build have to be on the same planet as the previous creation? for example, if I rebuild a MANTIS creation that was on B06, could I move it to C09 instead?

The build can be on any planet accessible for the corporation, not becessary the same planet as the original build.

Before any of you wiseguys ask about this rule:

All entries must be new creations , not posted anywhere else prior to being entered in the challenge. You may be asked by a staff member to change your entry if it is too similar to an earlier creation.

...obviously the point of the Challenge is that your entry is in some ways similar to an earlier creation But don't just rebuild exactly an earlier creation with different colours!

Each build.

Also, if anyone's thinking about picking a low quality build to make it easier to pick up the improvement bonus, bear in mind that your main 8 point score depends on how well your build is recognisable as a tribute to the original. So if you choose a minifig on a plate as your original build and turn it into a SHIP that just happens to be the same colour as the plate, you're not going necessarily going to score that well.

As it is a challenge, should we use any tags? Do tech and job bonuses work for our alternative versions or do we skip tags completely?

Location on the other hand should be at the top of the post. Maybe we should also specify which team we build for in case it's not obvius

Do the other corporations get the benefit of our personal equipment. If I built my Cat B as an Octan would they get my Domination for dummies bonus?

Aslo if I remade an old spy build could I still use a spy suit to place it?

No job or tech bonuses will be awarded, so tagging is unnecessary. Equipment won't count either, so you can't get bonuses from that or use spy equipment to place your build.

Do we have to pick builds to change that were posted before this challenge was announced, or can we also pick ones that were posted during the running time of the challenge? I can imagine you wouldn't want us to post a build that was made just so it could be easily swapped to another corporation. Where's the fun and creativity in that?

For players with few or no builds that is prety mych the only option to enter category B. If you don't want to then just don't do it. I have already chosen builds for both categories (catA is from you )

Builds posted during the challenge are open for picking. Mainly so that newer players can enter.
