Kit Fisto Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 (edited) Hi! Here is my latest project - old lovely Mack in the scale of 2Lego`s trucks... The chassis have been sitting on my shelfe for a very long time, but now it`s something more then just chassis:) Credits for rear axles go to Ingmar - they are a bit modified axles from his trucks Front axle is my own setup, which uses small LA for steering. At the moment I`m pretty satisfied with the front of truck. Today I spent a lot of time figuring out tank design.Do yu like it?Any suggestions?.. The tank isn`t finished, i don`t really like eht way 3x3 dish is attached, cause it has wobbling. The real one: Edited January 5, 2016 by Kit Fisto Quote
Pluto_MkII Posted January 5, 2016 Posted January 5, 2016 Wow! The bonnet looks amazing. Nice build. Do you use PF LEDs at the front? I like the idea you use for building up the tank in combination with the XL motor. Keep the good work up! Quote
Kit Fisto Posted January 5, 2016 Author Posted January 5, 2016 Tnaks for the comments! Yes, there are LEDs in front lights I`m glad u like the bonnet, it was a very big challenge to get it look right.. Quote
pyro690 Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Looks great so far! I like the XL fuel tanks. Quote
Sylvian Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 That looks very very promising! And you have a great taste :) Quote
Shurik Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 That's my boy! Way to go! Can't help enjoying your progress on this Mack. Bonnet is an eye-candy, but that fender is a huge trouble. Regular curved bricks is not a solution. Go in either for some unique combination of panels and tiles or simply try layers of regular plates. Nice execution of XL-motor-tank, but watch out for scale issues. According to the pic you submitted the tank should be smaller and closer to the front wheels. Of course, it's up to you, but I love the standarts you're trying to keep up with. Quote
nerdsforprez Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Very nice truck. For what is worth, I don't mind the fender. I don't think it is a problem. Quote
Kit Fisto Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 Thanks for the replies, guys!Updated arch design: Still uses curved bricks, but now it`s much more round and less bulky, then it was before. In my opinion, curved brciks here is the best solution, as combinations of plates just make it look square... Tank is very far from final design, I`m still not sure if the XL-motor will be the tank, or I should place it to the cab and build the tank from bricks... Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 You picked yourself a very nice classic truck and you are doing a great job so far...well done...!!! Quote
Kit Fisto Posted January 8, 2016 Author Posted January 8, 2016 (edited) Thanks, Ingmar! Current stage: 1)Brick-built tank added, drive motor changed to L with 12:20-12:24 gearing. For now it`s working perfectly, I really hope it will be able to carry the full weight of the truck.L-motor is sitting under the bonnet now..Tank closer: The black 1 x 6 arch on the 2nd pic shows end of a cab. Kit Fisto Posted January 31, 2016 Author Posted January 31, 2016 Thanks! After some late night building... Quote
Kit Fisto Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 99% finished...Needs chromed wheels, some stickers and rear-view mirrors. Quote
lcvisser Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Very nice! If you're going to chrome things, why not also chrome the two small brackets that hold the smaller lights under the headlights? Quote
Kit Fisto Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 Because they will be black :) I just don`t have them atm, need to do BL order... Quote
lcvisser Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Excellent, I agree that would look better Quote
Sylvian Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Ooo really nice! Will you turn the front wheels around or something? Quote
Kit Fisto Posted February 3, 2016 Author Posted February 3, 2016 (edited) To be honest, I was just going to leave it as it is..Turning around isn`t an option, cause it means adding 1 more bush to the axle the wheel is attached to => far from steering point. But may be I`ll do smth with it.. Edited February 3, 2016 by Kit Fisto Quote
