The map he sought was on LeBellan. That was sure enough to complicate things, but Leon Dracken was not put off...

Perhaps he should have been. Finding himself locked up by the Oleon Navy was not part of the plan. Luckily, his cell overlooked the bay, and his crew were in town.

The Garrison Commander had just finished bragging about Dracken's upcoming execution when the cannonball struck the corner of his cell. Moments later, Dracken was outside, and rescue - of sorts - approaching.

The Oleon soldiers above him were not so lucky.

Dracken's crew, including Master Gunner Kite, were coming, with a boat.

Dracken readied himself for the jump to the boat.

The soldiers would just have to rescue themselves.

And then, Complications ensued...

Unfortunately the lighting wasn't great while these pictures were being taken. These were the best of the bunch.

The fort is really Nice, but as you said, the lighting needs a bit of improvement. Still great job!

Thanks. Sadly, grey overcast weather and no daylight lamp made the lighting a bit of a pain; these were taken at the best chance we got (my girlfriend, who knows what she is doing with a camera, took these pictures). And I've just noticed the a gap in some of the bricks on the middle layer. Oops.

As for the fort, I decided to go with the general stylings of the current/just retired sets, but with a more solid walls on the lower levels. What doesn't appear in any of these is the large flag attached to the top level - the upper archway would (if actually part of a larger structure) lead back inside that balcony being for the raising and lowering of the flag.

Nice story. A daring rescue is a great start to a Sea Rats' tale!

Thank you. I like to start things with a bang, so we're straight into the action here.

A nice intro. I especially like your sigfig and his posing with the dual wielding knives (which set had goldens one btw? Too lazy to BL them)

I can't remember where they came from, which means it was either Bricklink or out of the build-a-minifig at my local Lego store (which is where almost the entire sigfig came from).

Very nice work here, the lighting suits a night escape excellently! pirate_wink.gif As everyone probably knows, I love the dark red and white color-scheme of the fort, but the hole in the wall is great as well! pirate_satisfied.gif It seems to be a good thing that the Oleon soldiers are distracted though, since otherwise it appears they were about to blow your boat out of the water! pir_laugh2.gif

The knives have appeared in various Ninjago sets, the one coming to mind right now is Destiny's Bounty, though I'm sure they come in some smaller ones as well pirate_classic.gif

Nice intro, Kaiju - I too like a bit of action. I think this is a great way to introduce a pirate! pir_laugh2.gif

The use of brick-bricks to show the edges of the broken building is great!

Well this is definitely starting things with a bang - and quite literally for our daring cast of characters. Good idea for an intro and the use of the latest set style. I don't mind the lighting - it gives it the appearance of a late-night rescue under a full moon. Welcome aboard and keep us going with the story!

Using the red brick-pattern bricks to represent the damage was one of the first ideas I had for this build. Just seemed a natural fit. As for the boat, well, the ship was unavailable (due to still being built).

Yes! Give us action. We don't need another hero. I agree with the lighting being a bit bad, but I know how hard that can be.

Like many others I'm rather reliant on having decent natural lighting, and the recent weather has been uncooperative.

Again, it seemed obvious. The bricks in the Soldier's Fort seemed to represent broken, peeling paint and I figured there'd be a lot of that after a cannonball hit the place.

Just as soon as I work out how to build the next couple of scenes from my fairly limited supply of bricks. I'm gonna need the doubloons if I ever want to license the ship I'm working on.

And I'd like to thank everyone for their kind words. This is only my second real MOC, so i was worried about how well it would go down.
