dathil Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 So, this is is my first MOC here. Due to my little brother being busy with creating a city, I had no access to most of the castle-building bricks, so I decided to make a landscape. I plan on making a story about these three people. I'm also working on a build in LDD, due to the unlimited bricks (but limited techniques:S) I used Snot-techniques for the rocks at first, but when running out of proper bricks I went over to a 'random build' of rocks, it turned out not too bad I think. I did not really like the color scheme, the green was too bright with the blue, but I did not have enough transparent bricks to cover the river, so that is why I added the snow, and I found some dark green leaves :D I would like to get some tips on how to make it more realistic with little bricks. Next time I'll add the bridge on an angle I suppose. As the snow is melting, Davok and two of his remaining men travel further. Somewhere in the afternoon they reach the river, and decide to make camp here. While his men make a fire, Davok stands guard on top of the old, wobbly bridge that looks like no one has passed here in centuries. They don't notice that someone is watching them... Close up on the campfire Davok on the bridge The other side of the bridge Another viewpoint Top view of the area Quote
Blufiji Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 First off welcome to the Guilds. Secondly, the bridge is pretty nice. Quote
TitusV Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 For a first build, this is not bad at all! I'd even say: great! You don't need any tips, seemingly i really like the bridge and the vegetation, only tip would be to try to make sloping landscapes more slope more slowly, with only 1 plate height difference. Anyway, keep it up! Quote
Tezclatipoca Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Good build and welcome ! Hard to build with a limited amount of pieces ? You managed it quite well. One advice I could give is (if possible) texturing a bit more the road leading to the bridge (that is well done) IMO, it's also possible to gain brick count on the flow effect of your river, by organising it more and making some little waterfall effect all around your rock formations. Otherwise you did a good job, brick on ! Quote
Full Plate Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Welcome! I also think you did a good job for a first build What you can do to improve it depends on what else you have in your collection. Regular small plates or 1x1 round plates in different colors could do a lot to add texture to the build. You are doing great, so just keep on building! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Excellent start to your GoH builds, the bridge is especially cool, but I also like the road sign and how you have the helmets balanced on the bushes Good use of the prefab pine trees as well Quote
LittleJohn Posted February 18, 2016 Posted February 18, 2016 Great first build! The bridge is excellent, and I like the rockwork too Quote
BrickCurve Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 For a first build this is great! Nice touch adding a waterfall as well. Welcome to GoH! Quote
