Kwatchi Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 (edited) The Heldenbergs were washed along the eastern seas like so much jetsam, having fled their home country of Mardier after having been persecuted for their religious beliefs . Upon finally finding a safe haven, they continued to do what they had always done: bake. While selling bread and pies to their neighbours and friends, this industrious dockside bakery primarily caters to sea captains looking to resupply. They produce barrels of hard biscuits at a prodigious pace in order to meet the demand of the free captains looking to replenish their stores before they return to the sea for another cruise. This build represents a small commercial bakery/victualer. I'd prefer to eventually license it as a factory as opposed to an artisan property since it is a commercial venture, but I'll abide by the ruling of the higher ups when it gets to that point. Property: Small factory Status: Licensed Edited September 12, 2017 by Kwatchi Quote
Tomsche Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I really like the oven and the pastry the misses is creating! Good one sir! Quote
Bregir Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I am loving all these crafts being shown, and often in great detail. Nicely built bakery, Kwatchi! I like the double combustion chambers/whatever under the oven, and the snotted brick floor around the oven is just brilliant. And you have included a lot of ingredients and several steps in the process. Well done! Quote
Capt Wolf Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Great build! So much to like here. The oven is great. I like the smooth wood floor and the frame and plaster walls. Good minifig posing, and the pastries look delicious! Nice use of the honey pot piece. Well done all around! Where does the torso piece for Mrs Heldenberg come from? Quote
Sir Stig Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Lovely scene. What kind of religious beliefs are being prosecuted in Mardier? Do we need to fear the Mardier inquisition? Quote
Garmadon Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Very nice build Kwatchi, and its great to see a lawful and respectable Sea Rats establishment! My favorite detail here is the SNOTted masonry bricks around the fireplace, but the Tudored walls and baking process are shown excellently as well! Quote
Kwatchi Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 Thanks all. After seeing everything from last month, I've challenged myself to improve... which oddly enough means scrounging up as many tile pieces as possible. I see a couple of bricklink orders in my future. :) Where does the torso piece for Mrs Heldenberg come from? Village Raid: 7189. I've been a castle enthusiast for the longest time, and only got into Pirates in the last two years. So I make do with what I have on hand. Lovely scene. What kind of religious beliefs are being prosecuted in Mardier? Do we need to fear the Mardier inquisition? This will be hopefully tied into an overall storyline soon. I'm trying to sort out some rule questions at the moment. Quote
TitusV Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Neat build! I like IT a lot: you managed to keep things both plain and interesting at the same time Quote
Fuzzy MacFuzz Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Great build, it is lovely to see all this ordinary daily living going on alongside the grand ships, the piracy and the exploring. Not sure I like the idea of SNOT on a bakery floor though; I guess these guys haven't passed their health and hygeine exams? Quote
blackdeathgr Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 Very nice little moc with an interesting profession. And brick profile SNOT is very beautiful. Kwatchi by not tiling everything i guess we both learned our lesson Although i admit i like studs Quote
Kai NRG Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Very nice little interior scene, the pot of honey is a nice touch and I really like the slightly raised SNOT masonry bricks around the fireplace! Quote
Ayrlego Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 A very nice bakery. As others mentioned the SNOT fireplace floor is particularly noticeable and the oven itself is very nicely done as well. Keep up the good work! Not sure I like the idea of SNOT on a bakery floor though; I guess these guys haven't passed their health and hygeine exams? *groan! - lol*! terrible pun - love it! Quote
BrickOn Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 Nice Bakery! (As others have said the SNOT floor is cool, I really like it too). But what caught my eye to begin with was the dough in the bowl, for some reason that just really works for me. I also like the use of the 90's chefs head, makes me smile. And I am with you on the scrounging tile pieces. Quote
Elostirion Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 What an amazing build, the oven, the guy at the oven, the floor design all are brilliant. Great job! Quote
Mike S Posted March 10, 2016 Posted March 10, 2016 This is a fantastic interior! I really like everything about the build! Quote
Captain Dee Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 This is a fairly basic bakery design, but it turned out really good. The hearth is excellent and the oven looks great for the time period. I like the wall design - nothing fancy, but making good use of simple colors and components. The various accessories are nice, especially the platter of dough. Good work all around. Quote
