Greetings all.

For the past few builds I have been trying to concentrate on aesthetics rather than functions. This has naturally brought me to Model team and system bricks.

In a bid to learn new building skills I have been looking at non Technic sets to try out. The 4896 popped out at me like a jack in a box! The looks are lovely, the functions are good. But there was a problem. It's a rather expensive set to buy. So the solution? Bricklink of coarse. I also had a few red bits in my collection, so I decided to change the color. little did I know the 6 red brick arches where difficult to come by at a reasonable price. at least in the UK. And don't even start on the chromed macaroni bits behind the seats...

So after making it, I immediately wanted to add suspension.

I had to widen the car by two studs to fit the steering links in and had to completely rebuild the chassis to make it compatible with odd length Technic parts.

As the car is pretty heavy, the back suspension had to be very stiff. Utilizing two extra hard shocks. It's a very firm suspension, but two soft springs just didn't hold up the weight. The front wasn't so bad as it doesn't have as much weight.

Here are some pictures.

My next project is to add a working steering wheel. And possibly a rear differential. But I'm not sure there's any room for that.

Thanks for looking. Comments always welcome.

By the way, if a mod thinks this should be in another forum, please feel free to move it.

Wow looks nice and crisp. I love it when people combine the somewhat opposing themes system and technic in a beautiful way, good job

Thanks guys. I love the way lego is so versatile.

I'm not a huge fan of technic panels, so mixing the two styles seems like the natural way forward.
