Puvel Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Lieutenant Brydon was happy. His first real assignment in the field was going exactly as planned. He had been send out here to set up a foothold and make sure everyone saw that this island was claimed by the Empire of Corrington. He wasn't too worried about the locals, they seemed harmless enough and should be easy enough to deal with if necessary. The other empires could bring trouble however, the seas were full of ships nowadays. Everyone seemed to realize the potential and would try to gain as much as possible from the new world. There will be fights breaking out soon enough, you have to be realistic about these things. The lads had done a remarkable job setting up the defenses on such short notice. Most of the grass was cleared, the wooden fence looked sturdy enough to keep the locals out and with the outlook they'd have no trouble spotting trouble from miles away. by Puvel The Hurn Quote
Garmadon Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Very nice build Puvel, the wall and outpost are clean and sturdy, and great job on the terrain as usual - especially with that little pond! Excellent photography too! Quote
Kai NRG Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 Great build; the bit of blue there really adds a ton but the wall and lookout post both look really nice as does your terrain! Quote
Elostirion Posted March 26, 2016 Posted March 26, 2016 Really clean build, the small pond definitely adds a lot to the build. My favourite part is the minifig-posing, though, seems rather realistic. Quote
Bregir Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 I like the clean look of these fortifications, and the lookout tower is really nice too. I would suggest field guns with larger wheels for this kind of setup, but I suppose they had to make do with what the had? I would think those guns would sink into the ground, especially after a few shots! Your setup gives the impression of being part of a much longer fortress wall. As always, nice story and great presentation too. Well done! Quote
blackdeathgr Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Really nice! I am a sucker for black tricorns as standard soldiers' hats Quote
BrickOn Posted March 27, 2016 Posted March 27, 2016 Cool scene, I like the lookout post and the overall setting makes the build. I especially like the pond, it adds to the feel of low lying marshland, is the fort set in specific island? Quote
Puvel Posted March 29, 2016 Author Posted March 29, 2016 Thanks guys! I wasn't thinking of a specific location when building this, could be anywhere! Quote
Kolonialbeamter Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Hey, another great entry I forgot to comment on! Sorry I love the landscape here, all looks so colorful and natural - I really love you added a small pond - one could almost forget there's military involved. Those early palisades are well done, and those larger wheels for the guns add to the perceived caliber of the artillery. The watchtower is a fine addition, well executed. Just... the powder storage directly underneath might... backfire... or rather 'upfire' All in all, great entry (I'm repeating myself ) Keep it up! Quote
Captain Dee Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 This is another fine entry. I like the landscape and the little pool of water is neat (perhaps a natural spring they're using to replenish their stores?). The palisade looks good, although it probably won't withstand artillery fire in return. The structure in back is nice and your collection of minifigs looks great as usual. Good work. Quote
