Kai NRG Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 This is my third free-build for this month, and I am Eslandian. In Bardo, Thursday is Market Day, and small farmers, fishers, and craftsmen from all around bring their wares to the Seller's Square. Come on and join in the fun! Get a hot meal... a literally hot meal, made with freshly picked chili peppers! Fresh Bardo pigs means fresh Bardo bacon... and nothing beats Bardo bacon! Something for everyone! Got carrots? Frog legs, anyone? Or be amused by this sailor's pet monkey! An overview: C&C welcome! I tried to convey the sense of a crowded market scene and while I would have liked to have a bit more time to introduce a few more unique stalls I'm pretty happy with how it ended up! Quote
Sir Stig Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Yay! I love that you chose to show some of the Bardo Cuisine. Nice mix of people. Multicultural Bardo Quote
BrickOn Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Approval from Corrington Such a bustling scene, so much detail, definitely worth a visit. I like the traders who have their wares out on the rugs, rather than on tables, adds a different dimension to the usual market scenes. The pig crate is cool too. Looks like a properly busy Eslandian market, nice one! Quote
Puvel Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Lots of nice little scenes, market looks very lively indeed from Corrington Quote
SilentWolf Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 Are approvals needed anymore? Well I still approve and I am from Corrington. I do really enjoy that the scene pulled off the market place with all of its hustle and bustle. Is this an outdoor market? If so I would have liked to see more changes in the cobblestone as it looks too perfect. That is the only thing I see that could change. Quote
halixon Posted April 1, 2016 Posted April 1, 2016 As i said on flickr, that's quite the minifig pool! Quote
Elostirion Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 (edited) A great crowded market scene, and an excellent jon on the photography highlighting all the details. Rumors say that someone knew about that minifig rule in advance and just took his chance. ;) Edited April 2, 2016 by Elostirion Quote
Bregir Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Approval from Corrington! Very lively and active scene, with a lot of nice details, such as the spread out blanket with wares, the "pig-in-a-basket", and the multitude of people and wares. Well done! Quote
Kai NRG Posted April 4, 2016 Author Posted April 4, 2016 Thanks all for the comments! Approval from Corrington Such a bustling scene, so much detail, definitely worth a visit. Looks like a properly busy Eslandian market, nice one! Thank you! I was in a bit of a hurry to get this done or I would have liked to add a few more substantial stalls, but on the whole it turned out nicely crowded! Are approvals needed anymore? Well I still approve and I am from Corrington. I do really enjoy that the scene pulled off the market place with all of its hustle and bustle. Is this an outdoor market? If so I would have liked to see more changes in the cobblestone as it looks too perfect. That is the only thing I see that could change. For the last few March free-builds, approvals are still very much welcome. That's a good point about the cobblestone. Sometimes I forget the effects of weather. Thank you! Quote
Captain Dee Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Excellent market square. I always like these scenes, and you filled it with lots of good minifigs and accessories. And I happen to like the cobblestone just the way it is. Good work. And... Approved by Leadership (Possibly the last time I say that... ) Quote
Tezclatipoca Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Great market ! I like the cage of this poor pig ! good idea to use those bones ! Good job as always ! Quote
Fuzzy MacFuzz Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 What's not to like? You've got pigs, you've got chillis, you've got croissants, you've got carrots, you've got a tasty little monkey...my mouth is watering at the thought of it all. Lots of lovely vignettes here, its like ten builds in one. Quote
Asgon Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Nive crowded scenery, with a great mix of people. And nice floor. Maybe a picture from one far end to the other could have shown the crowed area even better? Quote
Gideon Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Very nice busy feel, and excellent photos One small suggestion for improvement however is for the last (overview) shot that you could move the camera a bit further back and zoom a bit more instead, so you don't magnify the front of the build as much. Captain Braunsfeld Posted April 22, 2016 Posted April 22, 2016 I could have sworn that I had already rated this as a fine busy market scene! Quote

I've had that bone table-scrap lying around for ever so long and I was glad to finally find a good use for it! I really like the busy feeling, great job Thanks! What's not to like? Maybe a picture from one far end to the other could have shown the crowed area even better? Thank you! That's a good idea for a picture angle... can't remember now if I tried it out and thought it didn't look quite right or if I just forgot! Very nice busy feel, and excellent photos One small suggestion for improvement however is for the last (overview) shot that you could move the camera a bit further back and zoom a bit more instead, so you don't magnify the front of the build as much. Thanks Gideon! Good point. I certainly fall under the very-short-shooting-range category. I almost never zoom and almost always get as close as I can to avoid having to crop extensively. For close ups that can be a 2-4 inch range at times! Most of the time I find it works fine but sometimes it does lead to a bit of distortion. Will try to keep the zooming possibility in mind! I could have sworn that I had already rated this as a fine busy market scene! Thanks! Quote
Kolonialbeamter Posted April 23, 2016 Posted April 23, 2016 Is this considered bumping? Hope not! Kai, sorry for not commenting on this beauty sooner, busy month... I love the atmosphere on this market, so much is going on. Great details, that turn what is basically just a plain stretch of cobblestone (nice design, btw) into a vivid scenery The characters and merchandise are spot on. My favorite is the pig (hope it's not called Philip ) in its cage. Quote

Captain Green Hair Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Great rendition of a busy market, with a few buildings in the back and some ships in the front it might expand into a great village! Quote
