Capn Frank Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 I've been bringing some of my BoBS builds to local LUG events. Last month we were at a Oakwood Retirement Home in Madison, WI for a Lego themed family day. Here is the entire layout for our pirate display: The pirate fort is made by our LUG president, Andrew. The small shipwreck is my entry to last year's space pirate contest, Ship Wreck Point. The Corrington Fort is what I had built for Corrington's intro topic.Inside the fort is my blacksmith shop.[*]The sloop is CNS Swift that I had posted as a free build. [*]The 3 Oleon row boats use the same design as the Small Fishin Boat. Additional photos of the fort I also wanted to share additional photos of the Corrington fort I had built, since there's only one close shot in the Corrington Intro Topic. Additional photos of the rowboats An additional photo of the ship wreck Additional photos of The Swift Thanks for looking. Quote
Captain Dee Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Looks great Phred. The finished fort is really nice with that big bastion perched on the rocks like that. The classic red-white-yellow looks better in your design than just about any other way of doing it. And it's cool to see Swift in her natural environment too. Good BoBS promotion all the way around. Franco Clarke Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Nice interesting layout, I like the angled shape of the fort. Quote
blackdeathgr Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Excellent builds all of them!!! I especially like the two forts and the rigging of Swift! I am going to do the same (alas on a smaller scale) for one of my LUG's exhibition in May. Keep up the fort-building guys and be prepared for BoBS forts! (please someone put a white/blue smiling face at this emoticon!!!) Quote
Bregir Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 All looking great - and I am happy to see BoBS represented out an about - one wonders if we will see a big influx of new players with all this publicity! All parts are great, but the Corlander fortress is my favourite - those sloped and angled walls are brilliant, and in my long terms plans are something similar for King's Harbour - I am definitely going to draw some inspiration from this. Great work, and great publicity. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Excellent layout, especially the fort is fine. Fitting well into colonial times! Quote
Jacob Nion Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 I love that fort! The angle is ingenious. Quote
BrickOn Posted April 10, 2016 Posted April 10, 2016 Great layout, the redcoat fort looks great. if I vaguely remember rightly, you posted a work in progress on that fort a few months back, perhaps? Cool to see it finished. The skull waterfall is fun too, very piratey :-) Quote
TitusV Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 That Corrington fort looks awesome, you got you angles perfectly right Quote
Dukesc Posted April 12, 2016 Posted April 12, 2016 What a brilliant display! I too will be taking notes to incorporate ideas on future builds. My only regret is not being able to go. Quote
Capn Frank Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 My Pirate Lego made it to the another display. WisLUG had a display at the Overture Center for the Performing Arts. The display was noon to 6:16 pm, Sunday, May 22, 2016 at The Overture Center, Madison, Wisconsin. The event was tied to the run of “The Lion King” and included a Minecraft-themed building activity that was a big hit with the kids! WisLUG’s first time at The Overture Center was a big success, drawing in over 750 visitors and numerous small builders We has less room than expected at this event. My fort is made to go past the left edge of my town. Rogue Angel brought his large history tavern and we populated it with Pirates. I'd also like to see a shot of all your builds put together, or is that too soon? See above. After this month, hopefully you'll see our entire display. Quote
