Puvel Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Growing up in a merchants family, Puvel had developed a keen eye for investments. After leaving his hometown for Arlinsport he managed to set up a plantation shortly after his arrival. He also convinced his friend Archibald to come over and set up as the local scribe for the troops and settlers. His next venture would be setting up a pig farm as it is a well know fact that Corries love pork. It was surely missed in the colonies. Once again he was able to persuade one of his friends to start a new life as his business partner. Jack and his wife were on their way to Arlinsport with a shipment of the finest pure bred Corrington pigs. The evening before their arrival Archibald told Puvel about a new naval base on Cocovia named King's Harbour. They'd need plenty of supplies, setting up a farm near there would be an excellent idea. Puvel agreed and hoped he could convince Jack and his misses. After hearing the description of the island, they were happy to start fresh on the new island. Some time later the farm was up and running. With a steadier income secured he hoped to focus on his studies soon. --- I figured farms fall under the plantation category so this is licensed as a medium plantation. Quote
Capt Wolf Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 Nice pig farm! (Did I actually say that? ) No, seriously, great job with this build. I think you figured correctly that farms fall under plantations. I like the fence and the various tools by the small building. Everything looks great; it has a very polished feel (for a pig farm ). Fuzzy MacFuzz Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 (edited) Great, just great. Really fun build, loads to like. The house alone is fantastic, never mind all the other stuff. Mind you, many years ago I worked on a pig farm myself and I'm pretty sure that fence isn't enough to hold them for more than five minutes...but that's Jack's problem I guess Edited April 13, 2016 by Fuzzy MacFuzz Quote
Kai NRG Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 This looks great, Purvel - a very clean build! Wait a minute... But in fact, that white building does look really neat and well done and the landscaping is good too! Quote
Captain Genaro Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Wasn't sure what to expect from the title, and I was pleasantly surprised to see a pig farm. A very nice job with the landscaping, and I like the random junk and equipment you've placed throughout the scene. Details like that make the scene very convincing. Interesting use of the technique bricks for the wall. Assuming you're using them for weathering, it looks too uniform. If you're using them to add decor to the facade, then it looks fine (though a little too ornate for a farmer's house). Nonetheless, I think it's a really clever idea, and one I'll consider using in the future. Quote
Ayrlego Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 (edited) Beautiful? pig farm! Seriously I really like this. The building is lovely, it has a simple, clean style that I quite admire (and will be striving to replicate at some stage!) The farm itself is great as well, with lots of details. A great addition to King's Harbour. I too believe farms to be plantations, my plantation in Arlinsport was more a farm. Only thing is I believe small plantations have a recommended plot size of 32x32, I think medium were 64x64?. Not that it matters at all, with the obvious effort you've put into this one! Tezclatipoca Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Haha ! A bacon plantation ! Original title, and that sounds better than pig farm ! Good fence and nice little house ! Good job ! Quote

I too was thinking that controversial line about how clean a pig farm can be!! But the build is indeed a clean one and i love it! Plus you dont see that many pigs and a pig farm that often! Great job. PS: i want my bacon crispy please!!! Quote

Thanks Captain Wolf! The farm was build recently so the pigs didn't have time to mess all up yet :D Great, just great. Really fun build, loads to like. Haven't been to a pig farm, one of my mates has 2 pigs as pets and they haven't tried escaping. Could be a fun future build though, Jack and the quest for the missing pig This looks great, Purvel - a very clean build! Wait a minute... Thanks Ayrlego! Just checked and you're right about the plot sizes. I assumed all license types were same sizes. Did that change recently? A royal plantation must be huuuuuge then! Can someone of the leadership tell me if I should relicense this as a small plantation or is it allowed to be a medium one? Piggies!!! Great little farm, a very nice build :-) Thanks BrickOn! Haha ! SilentWolf Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 This is an excellent pig farm. Their very muddy pen is quite realistic. All the other details like the grass, chickens, little house with tools and supplies laying nearby, really make this build stunning. What are the hands in the crate supposed to be? Feed? One of my first jobs was working on a pig farm. I can smell it right now... Quote
TitusV Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 lovely build! I really like the White building, and the fenced area is good as well Quote
kabel Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 I love bacon, I love these new pigs and I love this build. Now how amazing is that? Shame I didn't get a single one of those farmers, they were all sold out the day the cmfs hit the shelfs ... Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 ... bacon plantation .... yes, of course, you plant them, water them and then they'll grow. How could I forget There is not a fly in the oinkment.... Quote
Elostirion Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 Many clever techniques, really looks superb. My favourite part is the addition of light green. And the small hut is lovely. Quote
dr_spock Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Mmm bacon, Bacon makes everything better. Nice sty-le. Quote
Captain Dee Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Lovely little farm/plantation. The buildings both look pretty good, and the details throughout the arrangement really bring it to life. The base is well-textured and the first photo is so close to perfect that I thought it was LDD at first glance. I'm a farmer, and while I've never raised a pig, agricultural scenes like this warm my heart. But I'll eat bacon however you want to cook it - I'm not picky! Good work, and a very welcome addition to King's Harbour. Quote
Bregir Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Great looking pig farm, Puvel. As always, your overall layout and landscaping is excellent, as is your presentation. What really stands out to me, though, is your superb attention to detail. The different bits and pieces scattered all around the build makes it look so very realistic - like the wheel and tools each side of the door, the sack and barrel on the roof, and the area around the chickens. The governor offers his best regards for this excellent addition to King's Harbour - Now we just need someone to smoke or salt the pork to be ready for use as naval provisions! Quote
Mpyromaxos Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Beautiful pig farm! Very creative! Love the fencing with the pigs and the house! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Lovely little house, the wooden beams at the corners, and use of technic brick with cross are both clever and effective designs Nice fenced pigsty as well Quote
