Well, this is my first ever set review, and I'm not entirely sure what to do, but here goes...

I had to upgrade my hosting package for the Tabletown website last night as it's become so popular I'd exhausted my monthly bandwidth allowance - and so I've put duplicate pix on Flickr which was just as well as the full set of pix has had over 90 viewings in the last few hours!

This is of course a scene from the first movie - Raiders of the Lost Ark, but I'll confess it's been some years since I saw it.

Here's the box, front and back:

Box1.jpg

Box2.jpg

The back of the box shows a neat sequence of Indy grabbing the front of the truck and sliding under it and down its length - note the number of grab handles he has to do this!

Box3.jpg

(sorry about the glare, never taken box art pix before)

Here's the supply truck:

Note the GOLD chest in the back! More of this later...

7622_004.JPG

The mudguards and wheelarches are masterfully crafted with little "wing" pieces. The entire chassis is built up from plates - aside from the cabin base, there are NO <insert that tiresome argument> parts here. Note also the silver 1x1 studs - there are a LOT of these, at the side they look like suspension springs.

A view from dead-on front, it looks a little narrow to me here.

7622_006.JPG

The canvas hood to the rear is attached with technic pins and held in place by a new piece I personally haven't seen before:

And here's the car:

7622_007.JPG

Again, it's all plates, no large pieces

7622_008.JPG

7622_009.JPG

Mudguards/wheelarches are formed in the same way - no specialised pieces for those here, it's really nicely done IMO.

7622_012.JPG

And here's Indy himself on his horse:

The complete set:

7622_016.JPG

7622_017.JPG

The minifigs! The Afrika Korps torso is excellent and will be mega-useful I'm sure for military builders like myself, but one word of warning - that little patch of skin showing beneath the shirt is peachy-fleshie skin, NOT yellow!

7622_021.JPG

Here's that gold crate:

7622_022.JPG

7622_023.JPG

In summary, I absolutely adore this set - you get four really cool minifigs, some weapons, a GOLD crate, lots of nice pieces and TWO - count them - TWO military vehicles! And the price isn't too bad either - 24.99.

I will definitely be buying at least one more of these for the troops and vehicles.

Like I say, this is my first review, I held off as I thought Vader was doing one and as you can see it's not a building review as I've already built it - but if there's anything I've missed or you want to see more pix of certain items let me know, although I'm off to bed right now. :-)

*wub* Thank you very much DS for this excellent review!

I simply love how both vehicles are brick built and no large parts

No stickers either *y*

The gold chest is beautiful but not as good as a chrome gold one but oh well

The Nazi/soldiers are very cool and have perfect outfits and torsos

Indy like always is a sweet fig, shame about his whip not uncurled

In the pics though it looks like he can uncurl it though

Is it a bendy plastic like on the orgianl black whip?

It does uncurl and the end is sort of flared into a small block shape so you can hook it onto things, but if it's left to its own devices it curls up again immediately - so it's not posable or anything.

A quick experiment just now suggests not - but I wouldn't like to vouch for the long-term stability if you used it like the "real" Indy. :-D

Woohoo! Thanks very very much Doctor S.! I couldn't resist, and took a peak at the pics while you were still uploading them, before the pics of the chest and box were up. X-D Awesome, I want to run down to the store and pick this up, but I need an extra 10-20 dollars, and they're not here in NZ yet. X-D :-P

Thanks again!

Thank you and I hope you didn't break the whip trying :-D If only I could find these in Hawaii *sad*

However I will probably have them in January 2008 since they are a 2008 theme :-D

oh man...this means the set will cost $50. oh well...gotta hand it to them. that's a nice looking truck and suv. *y*

Actually its only about 30USD because in Europe the prices are higher

The price was posted a while back and the set only has 272 pieces so $30 is a great price

Fantastic review, Sinister! Really, as my recent attempts have taught me all too well, it's hard getting shots that good, and your pics are excellent. Nice work!

I, too, really love how TLC has handled these vehicles - the design, detailing, and playability on both the trucks is great. That and I'm always up for a good troop building set. My desert faction was in need of some ground troops!

Of course, as you've shown here, this amazing set can be made even better with a few Brickarms accessories added in for some historically accurate flavor. ;-)

Many thanks, Dr Sinister!

This set is great! The golden treasure chest, more silver studs, 3 nazis, some beautifully built vehicles and Indy himself *wub*

Hmm, I thought that was another top underneath it. It doesn't look flesh coloured in the photos.

Once again, thanks *sweet*

Thank you for the great review Dr. S *y* . I am definitly buying this set, I *wub* the look of the whole set. Where did you find this?

I am surprised at the treasure chest though. In the movie they were transporting the Ark. I am confused why Lego did not make a model of the Ark.

VERY COOOOL anyway!!
