Sir Stig Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 I tried to make a caravel with this one, on a prefab modern hull. I intend to have this on my shelf for a while (since I can not use those hulls for anything else), so specific advice on the rigging is most welcome. I will make the rigging properly before licencing. Other C&C are also welcome. And lastly I have an overview picture without sail and with a sneak preview of my FB2, The Silver Scythe. Quote
Tezclatipoca Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Good design. Even if this is more near a very early Portuguese type of caravel, I don't see her being a class 3 like it is said in the ships charter. But yes this is a good sailing using Latin sails (I think your first sail is also a Latin sail too :) but you should have made a more fore and aft rigging. The bowsprit is not necessary in this kind of vessel. I didn't saw a Portuguese caravel with it but I am not an expert. For a more Spanish type caravel, it is totally adapted to use a bow with a square front sail on it but the Latin sails are not appropriate and square sails are better to render this type of caravel, but your hull is not corresponding to the Spanish type. All in all a neat build to show us a very early type of a beautiful caravel ! Quote
Capt Wolf Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Nice little ship. Good lines, nice color usage. I like your use of the curved fence piece. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Works out better than expected with that prefab hull! Quote
