JamesJT Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 I put 2 arched panels together at a right-angle and thought "corvette wheel arch", an hour later I have this; 1963 Corvette 3 by James Tillson, on Flickr I would like to make it RC if I can get it light enough and fast enough or maybe build a mini V8. A white folding "soft" top would be nice too. Quote
agrof Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Interesting concept, I always like the experiments with panels, so fingers crossed for this project. Quote
Zerobricks Posted May 1, 2016 Posted May 1, 2016 Awesome idea. Looks very classy, cant wait for more progress. Quote
JamesJT Posted May 1, 2016 Author Posted May 1, 2016 (edited) will it have suspension? Probably, looks like there is a least 2 studs of wheel travel under the arches but it doesn't even have steering yet. I found this image of a 1963 corvette, it's like the designer knew which colour technic panels would be available one day. Edited May 1, 2016 by JamesJT Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 I put 2 arched panels together at a right-angle and thought "corvette wheel arch" Already a good start and I can see why you thought this...it really looks like it is designed to be used for this...   Quote
jono rocky Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 Love the idea of the use of those curve panels as well, after seeing you use them like that, it was like so obvious, cant wait to see more. Quote
JamesJT Posted May 2, 2016 Author Posted May 2, 2016 ...it was like so obvious... Completely agree - doubt I'm the first one to see the wheel arch potential. ^That looks like a blue 1963 corvette to me. Quote
JGW3000 Posted May 2, 2016 Posted May 2, 2016 (edited) Obvious hint for the next car in the series? By the way, the 'vette looks awesome. My older cousin had one of early 1960's vintage. Edited May 2, 2016 by JGW3000 Quote
JamesJT Posted May 2, 2016 Author Posted May 2, 2016 (edited) I now have double wishbone front suspension (like 8081) and semi-independent trailing arms on the back. 1963 Corvette 4 by James Tillson, on Flickr The curved panel (24116) is useful for the sides. I am going to swap the 5x11 panel for these new panels too. 1963 Corvette 6 by James Tillson, on Flickr I could use another 3x 18944 to make the rear deck of a soft-top. 1963 Corvette 5 by James Tillson, on Flickr I am wondering if i should scap my chassis and build this on madoca's corvette chassis. They look about the same size. Edited May 2, 2016 by JamesJT Quote
Victor Imaginator Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 I like these old fashioned forms) JamesJT, it looks great. I will wait for updates Quote
itstechnical Posted May 4, 2016 Posted May 4, 2016 looking good! might reverse engineer this car too! you have some really good models! Quote
JamesJT Posted May 5, 2016 Author Posted May 5, 2016 I had the whole roof built yesterday but I had not noticed that the doors cut into the roof. 1963 Corvette 10 by James Tillson, on Flickr The roof was 2 studs too narrow anyway. This is what it looks like now. 1963 Corvette 016 by James Tillson, on Flickr Quote
JJ2 Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Looks awesome! Really looks like a vette, are there any pictures of the front? Quote
Jurss Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Maybe this was planned as next ultimate collection car from Lego, and that's why new panels were made. Maybe this is still in development by Lego, You just were faster. Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Nice progress indeed...really starts looking like the real one! Quote
Victor Imaginator Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 With all this new panels it looks fantastic) Quote
Lox Lego Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Cool build! Where did you get all those blue panels? Quote
nerdsforprez Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 You know..... people are making all types of things possible nowadays. Never thought I would see the old curves of this beauty replicated in Technic.... but here they are. Great joB! Quote
