Captain Braunsfeld Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 Everybody said it would happen, everybody feared it would happen: A great explosion has devastated the laboratory of Alberto Antonio da Pontelli. The monkey had escaped just in time after giving a cry of warning. Luckily Alberto was not seriously injured. .. but heartbroken ... The phlogiston experiments had turned out to be much more dangerous than initially expected. Alberto would need to send out a warning to the fellows of the Royal Academy. C&C welcome! Garmadon Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 That monkey perched up top looks remarkably suspicious, and de Chauncourtois is not at all surprised at the occurrences, except for the part about the new mayor making it out in one piece - though he is happy about it even if he was surprised! On the build itself, great job showing the effects of the explosion, the flames and charred parts look great, and turning all the furniture topsy-turvy was an excellent idea! And then that smoke on the ceiling really sells the scene! Quote
Jacob Nion Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 That is sad! But the depiction of the impact is really well done. The small flames surrounding the centre of the explosion make it reasonable what happened. And in all this chaos not a single bottle is broiken! These must be some very sturdy glass domes. Quote
Capt Wolf Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 (edited) I'm glad Alberto is ok. Excellent job with the effects of the explosion! The black and trans orange bits are well done! I also like the round plates at the top of the lab for the smoke from the explosion. Edited May 5, 2016 by Capt Wolf Quote
TitusV Posted May 5, 2016 Posted May 5, 2016 A pity - what, the monkey escaped? - ow, forget what I said about pities. If the monkey is alive, all is well Quote

I was also surprised that the black & trans orange combination works out so well. A pity - what, the monkey escaped? - ow, forget what I said about pities. Captain Braunsfeld Posted May 6, 2016 Author Posted May 6, 2016 The chicken seems to be suspiciously missing. Well, that was just a joking reference to the famous "Golden Age of Chicken Aviation" series... The chicken was not meant to be a part of the stories around Alberto da Pontelli. Quote
Fuzzy MacFuzz Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 (edited) To Alberto de Pontelli Dated this 6th day of May in the 616th year After Empire My dear Mr Pontelli, imagine my distress when, so soon after I had heard of your recent successes with phlogiston, another letter arrived conveying the news of your recent misfortune. A tragedy indeed! I was greatly relieved to hear you were uninjured, though I gather your experiments did not get off so lightly. If there is anything I can do to assist you in your current distress, or can contribute to the resumption of your experiments, you have only to ask. Mr Ravenscroft has very kindly offered to blow for you one of the giant glass phlogiston storage flasks he has been developing, which we believe considerably reduce the explosive risk, especially when filled out of doors. However we are baffled as to how we can convey the fragile flask to you in safety. Mr Janszen, Major Howard and Lady Norrington join with me in sending you our warmest wishes and heartfelt condolences. I remain sir, your most admiring collaborator in the pursuit of science, John Hawksbrugh. Edited May 6, 2016 by Fuzzy MacFuzz Quote
Littleworlds Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 (edited) Looks very fun and dynamic. You captured the event very nicely and the building quality is excellent. Lovely scene! I can't help thinking though that the monkey is having a good time laughing at our unfortunate experimenter. And the knights armor seems to bend in laughter too just great! Dear Mr Hawksbrugh, your pigeon has reached me and I would like to thank you for your kind words and sympathy. Pray, can you send me one of those phantastic storage flasks? It would be much appreciated. Warm regards Alberto da Pontelli Looks very fun and dynamic. You captured the event very nicely and the building quality is excellent. Lovely scene! In truth I fear that the monkey is the real brain behind all of these experiments - that is why he was able to escape in time! Quote
