Kai NRG Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Previously: Part I - Striking The Deal Part II - The Captain's Boat Part III - The Hurricane Part IV - The Cartographer To my esteemed cousin, Henrique Navarrez, First Mate of the EMS Gallant Dear cousin, I write this with eyes sore and bleary from copying, and truly, I am tempted to envy you your free and active life on the high seas. I am here penned up in a tiny academy, learning the rudiments of the science of cartography, and in my spare time doing a bit of copyist work, in return for which I bed and board gratis. The life of an academician may be a secure one, but I dearly wish that my parents will one day repent themselves of their decision and allow me to join the army - else I shall be sorely tempted to follow your example and run off to Eslandola. If I could be sure of your luck, I would do it at once. But enough of that - I have enclosed a journal - a copy I myself have made - of the travels of a certain Father Tholeau, which I think may be of interest. See that you use it wisely however, for in fact I do not think sending it to you is quite what the academy master had in mind when he sent me with it to the copyists' room. Nevertheless, knowing your interest in anything that partakes of the marvelous, I have enclosed the copy and am sending it to you by a safe hand. May the winds always be in your sails, good cousin, and God bless you! Signed, Sebastian Navarrez. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Nice tie in to the previous build with the floor pattern and walld esign. The marble bust, plant, ship model, and scribes hard at work make for quite a pretty scene Excellent table and bookshelf too Quote
TitusV Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Great build, I really love that first image, and the bust is Nice as well Quote
Kwatchi Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 (edited) This joint effort story line has proven real interesting. I'm enjoying it immensely. Great vignette Kai. I loved the bookshelf and the press. Only comment I'll make is that I thought the apprentice in the first frame (Sebastian Navarrez?) was naked at first glance on my phone. That all-beige view from the rear could have used some colour variation or maybe I higher chair back to break it up. Edited May 13, 2016 by Kwatchi Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Ferry good! (Sorry about my German accent...) Quote
Capn Frank Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Nice tie in to the previous build with the floor pattern and wall design. Thank you soccerkid. There was definitely some coordination for similar builds between myself and Kai. I'm really happy how they both turned would. Great work Kai. Quote
Bregir Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Great interior, Kai - I particularly like the bookshelf with the different sizes of books. All you need now is to vary the thickness of the books. Quote
Garmadon Posted May 16, 2016 Posted May 16, 2016 Lovely build, Kai, the colors really pop, and the details - bookshelf, writing desks, ship, table bust, etc. - are excellent as well! Awesome minifigs too, and great job continuing the storyline! Quote
Kai NRG Posted May 18, 2016 Author Posted May 18, 2016 Thanks everyone! This joint effort story line has proven real interesting. Now there's a possibility that never even crossed my mind. Yep. Something to keep in mind there! Thanks! Ferry good! (Sorry about my German accent...) Thank you! Thank you soccerkid. There was definitely some coordination for similar builds between myself and Kai. I'm really happy how they both turned would. Great work Kai. Yes, the coordination definitely helped this part of the storyline flow. Thanks! Great interior, Kai - I particularly like the bookshelf with the different sizes of books. All you need now is to vary the thickness of the books. But, I did that! With the profile bricks. Okay, not too much variation, true. Thank you! Quote
