JPN366 Posted June 6, 2016 Posted June 6, 2016 (edited) Here's my MOD for the Resistance X-Wing 75149 that replicates my previous MOD of Poe's X-Wing 75102... http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=117243 Looks like Snap and (Insert Name Here) are are arguing about who's X-wing it is. Poe be like, "that's my X-Wing, y'all." Here's a side by side comparison. Closer shot of 75149. Closer look at the wing cannons. I was excited to find sand blue cheese wedges for sale online, so I got 8. 1 for each wing and 4 for up by where the wings are mounted. I also took the silver cylinder pieces that I didn't use on the front of each cannon and put them in place of the gray cylinder pieces that are supposed to go on the back of the cannons. Closer look at the wing mounts. The build requires 8 1 x 2 sand blue tiles. Luckily, there is an extra 1 x 2 sand blue tile that comes with the set, so I used it and put it behind the canopy hinge. I would have used either a blue or gray 1 x 2 tile here if there hadn't been an extra sand blue one. Side view of the wing tips, sorry for the blurriness. Some minor changes to the rear. Added printed tiles in the cockpit. Instead of the good old lever piece used in 75102, 75149 uses a black skeleton leg as a flight control stick. The only disappointing part of this set to me is these textured curved slopes. The 75102 comes with the dimpled curved slopes and they fit snugly when you add the smooth slopes. I had to raise these up due to the lip that protrudes out at the bottom. I used two 2 x 2 gray plates on the bottom wings. On the top wings, I used 2 1 x 2 blue plates and the 2 silver grille pieces that would have been placed two studs forward in the standard build. A look at the bottom. Close up of one of the bottom engines. There's a blue 1 x 1 tile by that bushing on each side. On the top, I put a 1 x 1 gray tile in the same spots. There's the plate under the textured slope. 4 blue 1 x 1 bricks were used to move the sand blue wedge plate and 2 dark gray 1 x 1 plates combo forward 1 stud on each wing. Covered the studs on the black headlight pieces with extra silver round 1 x 1 plates and black 1 x 1 tiles. Here's a comparison with 75102, the biggest difference in my opinion with 75149 is these dimpled curved slopes. You can see they fit without being raised by a plate thickness like on 75149. I will be on the lookout for gray versions of these pieces so that I can add those to 75149 in place of the pieces that come with it. Side by side wing tips. You can see another difference here, 3 blue pieces used on the bottom wings on 75149 as opposed to 2 orange pieces used on 75102. Side by side comparison. 75149 has a lot of the sand blue pieces. I wish there was more. My favorite color is blue and all shades of it. So I enjoyed getting and making this set and hope to see more sand blue in the future. Edited June 6, 2016 by JPN366 Quote
tuggernuts Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 I finally got my 75149 in the mail yesterday, just finished putting it together this morning. I really like those bluish Grey tiles, they look slick on this build. Thanks for the mod recommendations! Quote
JPN366 Posted June 12, 2016 Author Posted June 12, 2016 I ordered 4 of the dimpled curved slopes, they are labeled as used but in good condition. They only cost 5 cents each, so I will be adding those to 75149 in place of the ones that came with the set that I had to raise to fit with my modifications. Quote
