Widdi Posted December 25, 2007 Posted December 25, 2007 Since there's no snow below 600m asl. in my region at the moment, I decided to drive into the snowy alpine foothills south of munich and east of the river Isar. With my cross-country-skiing equipment, of course. There were about 20-25cm of snow at 680-750m asl. And nice weather opposite to the fog, we have here north of munich at the moment. 1. Humbach-St Leonhard First I skied along the first half of the 8,5 kilometre track, starting in the small village of Humbach at 735m asl to the little church of St Leonhard, which is just above Dietramszell village. The track has nice scenery and offered a view to the alps, due to the clear air above 700m asl. Moraine hill scenery The small church of Humbach village At the start of the trail View to the alps seen from the cross-country-track View to a snowy forest Back light near another forest snowy farm near the track Back light to the alps Hoarfrost on the scrubs Winter forest Winter Wonderland The track. It offers classic style and skating Frozen-over pond below the trees Skiing the track through the winter wonderland Strong hoarfrost on the scrubs Some trees are snow-free, due to the sun View to a village nearby Back light near the village back light shot near another wintry forest More forest views Winter scenery all around the track People having fun on another frozen-over pond The small church of St Leonhard near Dietramszell Field path into the forest 2. St Leonhard-Humbach Just after passing by the little church, i went on the second half of the track. This part was partially much narrower since it winds through a forest, leaving sometimes just enough space for skating tracks, so the classic cross-country-track was partially gone, it is just a little bit too narrow Tractor trails near the forest Magical forest due to the combo of hoarfrost and snow, with the track winding through it View at the edge of the woods Hoarfrost and snow, just the right combo for a winter's day Stunning sky some time before dawn Zoomed to the alps Frozen-over pond just below the track View to the alps, the haze is caused by the inversion Humbach village at dawn 3. After the run: Relaxing in the tavern nearby Just in time with the dawn, I got back to my car, and put in my cross-country skis and went down to the local tavern, for getting a drink and later a Evening meal, since I had to drive to my munich location for sleeping before work, since I had to start working at 1am Late blue hour as seen from the tavern Moonlight, not that great due to cam constraints when photographing in the dark Merry Christmas everyone! *y* mFg Widdi Quote
