I was just thinking about the possibility of a new LEGO Racers game and all the different themes they could have in it.

The chances of ever seeing a third LEGO Racers game seem to be very slim, but still, I felt like I wanted to discuss this again and see who else would like to see a LEGO Racers 3,

and what kind of ideas some people might have. Could be fun! Do you think we'll ever get to see a third Racers game? What would you like to see in it?

I personally would very much like to see a new Racers game, with vast improvements over the old installments and definitely some new ways of racing.

Imagine playing it online, with modes for solo cars but also for duo cars where people are partnered up in groups of two and have to work together to get things done on the race track.

One takes control of the vehicle, and the other can use their weapons to get rid of obstacles or get in the way of the other racers. There are a lot of things they could do with it,

although I don't think they've even considered it the past few years.

I think the best way for them to do a LEGO Racers game would be as a handheld spinoff for LEGO Dimensions, similar to what Activision did with Skylanders Superchargers. They could incorporate all the same characters and vehicles already released and there could be two handheld starter packs: one with Rocket Racer and his car and another with Rocket, car and a Toy Pad for those who don't already have one. The storyline could incorporate the Dimensions characters, so you have to beat the likes of Scooby Doo and the Doctor in races on tracks based on their respective franchises.

I second the idea with incorporating it with Lego Dimensions. It is probably the best way to got about it now.

Say, along with a battle arena and a hub world, each theme had its own racetrack. Not too long. Not to short. Each level with its own unique tune (not ripped from the movies/shows/games they represent). A repertoire of power-ups (some throw-backs and some new). Most importantly, a Rocket Racer pack, whether a Level Pack, Fun Pack, or Team Pack with Veronica Voltage, or Pepper Roni (to represent Lego PC games as a whole), it is a necessity for this sort of concept, and the nostalgic vibe they want to give off.

Introducing this concept might encourage Lego to include some Legacy levels as well, perhaps even release a couple more packs based off their old IPs. People would agree that Adventurers would fit that bill, yes?

Just so ya know, Drome Racers was called Lego Racers 3 during development and was developed by the same studio that made Racers 2.

I'd love to see a new Lego racing game. There was one cancelled in 2009, but I think we've moved far enough past that that it's plausible another one could come about. Its such a huge shift from all the stuff TT has been doing, though. I'm not sure its the sort of direction they want to move in.

I like Drome Racers very much, added today's graphics and mechanics, I think a modern LEGO race game would be awesome!

Btw, I'm almost certain that a they announced a futuristic race game, somewhere after 2012, for some special platform, maybe along the lines of LEGO Fusion, I can't remember. I've searched desperately for one and a half hour, but nothing... :look: Anyone knows what I'm talking about?

I would love a new Lego Racers! But Lego Dimensions is too similar in concept for that to happen any time soon. As others have suggested, the best we can hope for is for them to release a new "Racing" mode for Dimensions like the upcoming Battle Arenas where you pick your driver and your vehicle and drive around a track based on one of the dimensions/themes against a group of other racers, either local players or AI. Maybe they could disable the weapons on the vehicles and make it so that they can only be activated by driving through power-ups like in the old games.

You are correct, it was called Lego Fusion: Create and Race and was exclusively for tablets. It had a good concept, but sadly I think it was too limited to be popular.

How so? Every TT game in recent years has included races as side quests in open worlds, so adapting that into a full-fledged game doesn't seem that farfetched to me.

Pretty sure it wasn't that one, sorry. It had a futuristic track in space, with loopings and boost arrows and things like that on the artwork.

I think you're thinking of Lego Portal racers. It looks pretty cool design-wise, so I saved this link to a brickshelf gallery of the textures as well.

Having another Lego racers would be fantastic! That game was my childhood for soo long. Me and my sister always raced each other. So you have my vote on the yes category.

I really wouldn't mind another Lego Racers game actually. Granted you would need to update it what with the fact that we've got so many new franchises in terms of Lego themes in general. I can almost imagine the cast of Ninjago having their vehicles from the show, of course the Star Wars cast would have podracers and even the speeder bikes they had on Endor and I'd still want Rocket Racer back again for the game as a boss.

You can't have LEGO Racers without Rocket in my view.

Yeah I mean he's the reason why the games were even made. You face off against 6 racing champions and you race against the best of the best in terms of the racers you compete against and you have the ultimate challenge of beating Rocket Racer himself. At least that was the main goal of the first two games anyway. But seeing as he was beaten AGAIN in the second game how would the plot for the next game even work? Because we need to establish why your facing against him again.

Frankly I would find it VERY surprising if any future Racers or Racers-like game featured Rocket Racer or tried to be any sort of sequel to the original game in the first place. Despite him being the main original character of the original series, that series ended ages ago, and hasn't been revisited in over a decade. As far as characterization is concerned he's not that compelling, either—he's mostly just a generic racing antagonist, with a fairly generic design to boot. The theme itself even continued without him with Drome Racers, and while that was not as much of a classic and significantly less beloved, it demonstrates that the character of Rocket Racer is hardly integral to Lego Racers as a brand.

Even so, he is nostalgia to those who played the games. Not saying he should be everywhere but he certainly was no pushover as a boss.

I'd love an adult narrative!

'After years of constant defeat and failure, Rocket Racer has taken to the bottle to drown his sorrows at being a complete loser. The only way he can be deterred from drowning his alcoholism is if you, the player, as Rocket Racer win six races of varying level before taking on the very LEGO minifigure who beat him in the last two races...customised by you"
