Capn Frank Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 2016 - Chicago WisLUG had a large pirate display this year at Brickworld Chicago. Two tables deep and two 8-foot/2.5m tables wide. A lot of people contributed to the display. Dukesc had five ships. Kurigan had two ships. ZCerberus had the very large imperial fort. Curvedroadplate had a ship. Col. Brik had a ship. Andrew from WisLUG had the pirate fort. And I had the town, small fort, and five ships. Thank you all for contributing to this display. I should have asked for more room. Two of these vessels were nominated for Best Sea Vessel out of five possible nominations. The Expedition won the award, and The Bumblebee was nominated. One shot while I was setting up. Here are images of the Collaborative Layout that I believe Ellerb was organizing. I had already committed to filling some space for our WisLUG tables when that topic was started. I really like the Micro Pirate Layout. I hope to have a collaborative layout similar to this in minifig scale for future Pirate Town layouts. Another large pirate display with a large armies. And other Pirate MOCs that were displayed: MKJosh was at Brickworld too,, and he had brought Pirate Lagoon. I couldn't find any pictures of it at Brickworld though. Battleship - by ToroLUG. I hope to have 5 pirate ships to decommission for next year's Battleship games. You play battleship like you normally would. When a ship sinks, the player has to drop their Lego ship. Space ships were used this year. I wouldn't want to keep my vessels together forever, so why not have them go out in a blaze of glory against space ships. Check out the carnage below. Quote
BrickCurve Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 (edited) Looks incredible! I wish I was there... Oh well, I look forward to next year! (I wonder if I can fit a ship for battleships in hand luggage). Edited June 25, 2016 by BrickCurve Quote
Capn Frank Posted June 25, 2016 Author Posted June 25, 2016 that fleet is really impressive. Too bad we can't see a little more of it. Who all provided ships for the display? Here's a little more of the WisLUG/Eurobricks Fleet. (I wonder if I can fit a ship for battleships in hand luggage). You'll need five ships for Battleship. Quote
Staslegomaster Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 To say awesome means to say nothing. It's incredable to create all that but it's much more difficult to transport MOCs anywhere!!! I never understand how it is possible. for example I began my Grey Skull Frigate on August 7th, 2015 and I finished it on May 7th, 2016 working with some breaksand it was difficult. how do you manage? Captain Dee Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Thanks for the pics Phred. There is some good stuff here. Man, I am like totally digging the pirate ship hat! But it looks a little awkward to wear... The micro scene is cool too but the big layouts are really impressive. Those forts look great as well. Good work everyone. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Terrific - great display. So many excellent contributions, must have been fantastic to be there. Quote
dr_spock Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Arr, great display. Pirate ships vs spaceships sound like fun. Looks incredible! I wish I was there... Oh well, I look forward to next year! (I wonder if I can fit a ship for battleships in hand luggage). Maybe if disassembled. Brickworld has a couple of days for setup/rebuilding. Quote
kurigan Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 I didn’t get to actually go, but I dispatched a couple of sloops, Nuisance and Bumblebee to make an appearance. They didn’t arrive in the best shape but Phred was able to cobble them back together for the show. Bumblebee even won a nomination, wo! It was great to have the chance to participate even from a distance and I’m already hatching plans for next year. Guess I caught the bug. 1,400 and some odd miles later (round trip) my well-traveled ladies are back home safe and sound. Thanks for the opportunity and thanks to everyone who participated to make up a great layout. Quote
TitusV Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 The whole lay-out was awesome, but the Pearl of the Seas is defenitely the large fort Quote
BrickCurve Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 (edited) Some great MOCs here. I particularly like ZC's fort. I look forward to exhibiting alongside my fellow EB members next year. (If all goes according to plan). Edited July 6, 2016 by BrickCurve Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 Great pirate display! I really love the messy look of the town and the fort inspired by torre de belem(?), looks really awesome too! We should try to get the whole cp crew to do one of these some day, now that would be one hell of a show. Quote

However, I am working on a collaborative layout standard so that people could contribute one or two buildings for the next year. Stay tuned. Quote
