Brotherfromanotherbrick Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 I have been recently told by an inside source that LEGO sports will return in 2017. We will have subthemes such as Soccer, Hockey, Skateboarding,Skiing,Snowboarding, and Basketball. Please take this only as a rumor currently.

Sorry about that, he said Skiing, not Hockey. Ah? How could someone own the rights over baseball and football? They own the rights to replicate those teams in building block form. The Fezter Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 I doubt this would be a fully fleshed theme, as those sub themes would take up half a wall of a Brand Store alone. More likely? CMF's. Brick built figures. But as for a theme, no.

Anonknee Muss Posted July 18, 2016 Posted July 18, 2016 Whoa! I hope it isn't a flesh line, otherwise I would probably lose interest. Makes sense really, lego do bring back old themes at least every half decade like the pirates and agents them, makes sense they are bringing the sports theme back.

As a kid, I missed out the Sports and Extreme Stunts sets, but when I saw them in older catalogs, I really wanted them. Bring back the halfpipes, the ski ramps, the basketball and the (ice?)hockey fields!!

I do wonder if the hockey stuff will be done with figures like that one from one of the older Collectible Minifigure series, but I think they will (if LEGO hockey will be a thing again) since I can't see them making those technic/BIONICLE-ish guys from back then again today.
