Lord Beckett Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 (edited) Hello guys, Here's an awesome MOC I found on BS (I created the topic here as it almost exclusively uses parts of Vikings and Castle lines). The MOC has apparently been inspired by the Beowulf animation movie and as it looks really nice, I wanted to share what I found with you. The blood effects are really creative... X-D and take a look at the landscape behind the door... Here it is. What do you think. Edited December 30, 2007 by Lord Beckett Quote
Brainbox Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Pretty nice. I've not seen the film, but I supose that doesn't really matter. It's still an awesome MOC, not least because of some of the detail. And I have to agree with you, the blood is pretty creative (if slightly sadistic). I mean, look at this. And the landscape through the open door is pretty nifty too. Quote
KimT Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Awesome MOC. A lot of neat solutions for bloodspray. I especially like the man with the shield in his stomach. *y* *y* KimT Quote
Hotshot Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 I like the backround And the lego guy smash in to the wall X-D Quote
Shakar Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 I especially like this one smashed into the wall. Look here. The use of the bandana is pure genius! I haven't seen the film, but, looking at this MOC, I'd say it's pretty violent. Shakar Quote
Lord Beckett Posted December 30, 2007 Author Posted December 30, 2007 It is, but it's not also the most violent film ever (I went to see it about 1 month ago)... and there is also the fact that the MOC is freely inspired by the film... Well, I'm glad you like it. Brainbox: yeah, that one is my favourite... X-D Quote
Joebot Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Dang, I was hoping for an Angelina Jolie scene ... Hilarious, and very clever gore. The red snakes for entrails is pure, demented genius! Quote
MicVash Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Oh the carnage!!! Wow, this is seen is just soooo dramatic! I love it! Well...the blood and gore is a bit...much...but really you can't help but admire the creativity and drama! I like it even more cause now I have a LEGO visual of the scene in the Herot meadhall. My English class read Beowulf a couple months ago. Quote
TheFrisian Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 This is great! Very creative in depicting violence and bloodshed. Favorite detail: the red snakes as entrails! :-D Quote
yellost Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 I love the way he did thebackground through the door, gives quite a lot of depth. I'm not too keen on the gore part but it IS very creative indeed. Quote

Lord Beckett Posted December 30, 2007 Author Posted December 30, 2007 I hadn't even noticed that yet! That's a very nice detail indeed! *sweet* But what did he use for the pallisades? I'm not sure but it looks like the end of items such as brushes, spears, etc. + little lanterns for the gate. Quote
TheFrisian Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 At first glance, they looked thinner to me. But you're probably right though. Still, it looks really nice like that :-D Quote
iamded Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 A wonderfully gory MOC! My favourite parts are the guy who was smashed into the ground headfirst, the guy staked to the pillar, and the wooden pillar with a big gouge through it. *y* Great building techniques and detail. At first I didn't see the background, but then I realised what it was depicting, very cool! Grendel himself is also done very well, although the legs are a bit narrow. ~Peace Quote
Wout Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 (edited) Whoa, Why reminds This Grendel me of Cookiemonster (only with another taste :-X :-P ;-) ) The background is great *y* *wub* The gore is both awfull and great together :'-( *wacko* *sweet* If you look at the bodies smashed to the wall, it looks a bit cartoonish (If you ignore the blood and other bodyparts). Picture nr 13 has something, I don't know if it's right to write and I hope I don't offend anyone :'-( *wacko* , something funny, Although I feel awfull for the vikings. Edit: Yeah, a Angelina Jolie Moc :-P ;-) Edited December 30, 2007 by Wout Quote
