soccerkid6 Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 (edited) This is the 6th module of my large collab with John. You’ll be able to see it in person at Brickfair Virginia 2016. Previous modules: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th. As with the other modules, the building has a full interior. Legopard inspired the cart. The Jarl of Nordheim resides in the large great-house that serves as the primary governmental building of the city. See more pictures on brickbult. Thanks for looking, I hope you enjoy Edited September 24, 2016 by soccerkid6 Quote
Alfadas Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Nice! Love the inclusion of Kabel's and Ecc's sigfigs Also cool design for the inner floor ground work with the mosaic. A very nice build, one of my favourite! Quote
TitusV Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Superduperawesome! Love it! Especially the interiors, and all the roofs! One minor detail tough: on the ground floor, little light bley peaks through the wooden sections. I think you can do better no, seriously, IMHO they distract a bit... But great job! Any chance we might see Nordheim Keep integrated in the lay-out? Quote

Any chance we might see Nordheim Keep integrated in the lay-out? Thanks Titus! The choice to leave bley showing was purposeful, as the building was supposed to have a central stone tower with wooden additions. That said, I do agree that all RB for the first floor would likely look better. Absolutely not! Nordheim Keep is very long gone... I imagined it as outside the city anyways, sort of a separate refuge like Helm's Deep Quote
Garmadon Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Very nice build, SK, the colors and style make this instantly recognizable as a Nordheim fortress from you! Excellent woodwork and minifig activity, and it's great to see a couple of sigfigs showing up too! Keep it up! Quote

A pity... Quote
Henjin_Quilones Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 This is a great looking build, SK! I love the stone floor, it was one of the first details that really caught my eye. I think I might have to steal that for a build of my own down the line. I also love that you made the stairs and ladders connect all the floors, so that the inhabitants can make it to their bedrooms. Very nice use of barrels, too, and, as usual, excellent cobblestones. The distinctive Mitgardian feel comes through strongly in this build. Quote

I see what you mean, but wouldn't it then be better to have the gap as wide as the one on the second floor? A pity... Well the building is supposed to shrink with each floor. It was a compromise, but given the size I had to fit the building on, parts we had left, and suchlike, I think this was the best choice. This is a great looking build, SK! BrickCurve Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Looks really good, though I think the proportions would be greatly improved if you were to extend the stone part in the middle up another brick or two. Quote
Blufiji Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 Looks really good, reminds me of traditional viking churches and temples. I always enjoy the huge wooden logs that support these structures. Quote
Jacob Nion Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 I first read gatehouse and was wondering about the building. But a greathouse is really something different. Typical Mitgardian both in architecture and function. Once again your bbuilding style enriches Mitgardia with a wonderful new structure. Like blufiji mentioned this scandinavian look is very enjoyable and gives it this clearly Mitgardian feel. Quote
de Gothia Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Yes!! So great!!! I like the Idea of a greathouse and This turned out really good!! As always, the interior is packed with details so you can spend some time just looking at This beautiful moc!! Quote
soccerkid6 Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 Great job as always keep it up! Thanks bricklover Looks really good, though I think the proportions would be greatly improved if you were to extend the stone part in the middle up another brick or two. Thanks BC! It might look better with some more height, though I rather like the squat look of the building. Looks really good, reminds me of traditional viking churches and temples. Like blufiji mentioned this scandinavian look is very enjoyable and gives it this clearly Mitgardian feel. Yeah this would be one very ineffective gatehouse. Yes!! So great!!! Kai NRG Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 The shape of this building is superb, great woodwork! Neat interior as well, and I really like the little sag you have on the top roof. Quote
LittleJohn Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Another great module, Isaac! The dark bley accents at the corners of the foundation look really nice, and I like the gold locks on the doors Quote
Mpyromaxos Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Greathouse it is!! Very nice usage of barells for columns and the woodjob on it !! Quote
