Yes originaly the unit was hollow to allow for the insertion of a minifig pilot, but i thought it made the mecha look a little insubstantial, so i filled it with a torso made of blue 2 x 4 and 2 x 3 bricks, but after your observation, i think i will return to the original idea and devise a cockpit of some sort. The face was quite intentional, it was meant to be seen as Samurai Mempo, but unfortunately it seems i did not achive the effect. i guess there is much work to be done with this unit. Quote
