Sorry I don’t have any pictures my camera’s not working if I can get it working I add some soon.

Figures.

Firstly we have three trolls, two have the torsos found in Dwarf mining and the other has the same torso found in the battle wagon. Sadly there is no new troll armour in the set which comes as a bit of a disappointment,

For the knights we have two with the new torso found in the impulse set and one of the old torsos (the one which is always used for the knight with the broad brimmed helmet), while I do like the new torso I’m a little disappointed that we might see the end of the other night torso this year which I thought was very good.

The Build.

No numbered bags in this set, though as most things seem to be divided in that style, it might just be a printing error. Never the less it’s easy to see what goes where. The little wall was a night simple build and if you decided not to keep it you at least come away with 6 useful spears. The catapult is fairly standard and a tad dull but that’s hardly the main point of the set.

As for the battle wheel the first part of the build was quite fun though I did shoot myself attaching the trigger mechanism to the missile firing piece. The two wheels form the longest bit of the build and I found it a tad reparative as the instructions show ever single step but once it’s done it’s not to bad.

The Model

As I said earlier the wall is a bit dull and boring, but as that’s not the point of the set I don’t think it matters.

The Wheel itself is excellent in my opinion, people have been complaining that we don’t need another catapult and a new type of siege engine is what’s needed and Lego have truly provided. The cannon that’s mounted underneath the central part of the wheel has a trigger which runs back along the spine that sticks out the back allowing you to roll it and then fire it at the same time. I think this feature will provide a lot of play and fun, I couldn’t resist trying to know down a few knights with it.

Over all it looks great and I love the detail of the two trolls running on the wheel to provide the power. Certainly a break with the past that makes me wonder what else we’ll see in the future.

Thanks for this wonderful and detailed review Cardinal brick! And welcome to Eurobricks as well!

Your review is great, I feel as if I don't need to see pics infact. I love this set, its a truly original and fantastical design, and cannot wait to add it to my collection.

18 studs wide, 30 pounds, that's about 77 NZD, so it'll probably be about 80 NZD in stores... :-/

Thank you however for you lovely detailed review! It tells all we need to know, thanks!

I really don't like modifying official Lego sets for my displays, but I guess I'll have to for this set, that handle out the back will be no good for display purposes. And I'll only get one of these, a) because of the price and b), because it's 18 studs wide, not including the spears, so it'll take up quite the bit of room.

Thanks for the review. When I first saw that small image of this set I admit I was very puzzled. However by since I've learned to like it. I personally like how the handle allows you to move it and fire at the same time. It makes it a great weapon of destruction. *y* If it's 30 pounds I assume it'll be 50 Euro, maybe less (35 pounds sets end up costing 50 Euro).

Thanks for the detailed review, CB *y* This is a pretty nice set, though rather pricey for what you get. Dwarves Mining only costs a little more than this. I'll definately be getting this though, the wheels and platform are really well done, even if the back handle and spring missile aren't :-/

Could you take some more pics, especially of the platform? Pleeaase? X-D

When I get back tonight I'll take some more, what details did you want to have a closer look at?

mostly the platform part for the trolls and a pic of it without the wheels :-$ Thanks.

*y* :-)

Now I see more pictures, I find this set isn't as great as it could have been, and massively overpriced. It doesn't look nearly as good as it does in the catalogues and the handle...? I guess it's actually necessary to stop it rolling over and to push/fire it, so it's a necessary evil.

I won't be getting it because it's just too expensive and nothing really special.

Welcome to EB and what a nice welcoming present you have brought us X-D *sweet*

Great first review!! I really like this set, if it isn't too much trouble could we please get a few pics of the figs like the Trolls and Crownies all together?

One question though

-How many pieces does it have?

thanks

Hmm 30 Euro= $40 USD! Very well priced!

The release date doesn't surprise me, as on the very first picture it said "February"

I saw this in a TRU store last weekend. $39.99. It says special edition across the box as well. Not sure if this is like hoth set's special or just the dwarve's mine's special (just simply an early edition, not limited). piece count, the box listed it as 508 pieces.

so, piranha - guess you are SOOL since hawaii has no TRU. :-(

The store was in NJ. :-P those from staten island can probably check out some of the NJ stores. :-P

BTW, dwarves' mine will be available in target probably april or so. but get this...the price is increasing to $60 from $50. drat...

Shouldn't be any trouble at all.

All together

Is it just me, or should those trolls be facing the other way in order to power the wheel 'forward'?

Cheers for the review!

%$#@!! Damn TLC and their Exclusives! >:-( *n*

I hate Exclusives!! |-/

Hmmm, time for a short swim across the pacific ...... :-P

The only good part is that it isn't ridiculously priced, $40 for 6 figs and an awesome wheel! Great deal!

I guess I will have to resort to LSAH...... *sad*

Thanks Cardinal Brick! For those pictures, its great to see the king of trolls having that awesome torso and golden helm! As well as the crownies! I dislike the skellie armor on the troll though :-X

:-D :-D Thanks. That grumpy face looks classic in the wide brimmed helmet *y*

EDIT: Is it just because of the flash, or is the skull on the skellie armour gone?

Good spotting, I noticed this before too, it seems the armour does not include the skellie symbol, which is kinda cool.

Thanks for more pictures Cardinal Brick, I love this set, and MUST get it!

Does anyone know the price in Aus dollar? I hope it isn't too much.

It also looks like that handle is easily modified.

Hmm, abit of a dissapointment to me aswell that the trolls legs dont actually reach the wheels, which seems pretty crucial to power it.

However, at 40 dollars, and 6 figures, I'll just have to see how the rest of my lego list grows and see where I stand on this. Its on my want list, but not all that high up :-$

Thanks for more pictures. ;-)
