Opproperaar Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 In our modern day world it would seem that safety has since long gone. Destroyed by international terrorism, peace-keeping operations, Cold War patrols, nuclear weapons and let's not forget the ever mounting thread of clone brands and fake bricks! 8- Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Wow, that is lik a mountain of slopes :-D Looks great Ruben, looking forward to the final result! *y* Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I agree with Captain Green Hair! The sub is looking fantastic already, I bet the end result will be even better! *wub* Quote
Stealth Hunter Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 It's been decided that as the lead ship of her class, she will carry the class name, Tigershark. Just like a tigershark the boat's a predator, coming out at night, packing quite a punch and designed for operations in coastal waters, though quite capable of deep-sea operations too. X-D My submarine is also named Tigershark, but mine is not that big. X-O You can have a look at it in the EN picture thread. *y* Quote

El Bucanero Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 You build a boat that sinks?? That doesn't seem very smart. *wacko* I don't even see a single cannon or sail. How do you ever want do defend yourself or propel it?? Sigh. Ah well :-D, seriously, that's looking massive Ruben!! Very good job. 8- Quote
Brickadier General Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 Very nice. You've captured the shape very well. But wow! $$$$$ Quote
Batbrick Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 X-O Thats amazing! I can't wait to see the real, finished product. Great work Hairy Ruben, I love it already, give me 20. Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 I have to agree with everyone else that the sub is wonderful, and looks great. The only minor alteration I'd suggest is that the taper to the stern fins should be a little gentler. Otherwise it looks spot on to me. Quote
AgentRick Posted February 2, 2008 Posted February 2, 2008 This might be a bit of self promotion, but I also built a sub for my older brother using LDD, and I felt it turned out well. Readers of my comic might recognize it as the Bley November, the sub used by the banned members. I based it mostly on the Claw Crusher released last year, with ideas like being 8-wide, the front is removable, and the coning tower was an exact copy of the Claw Crusher's one. It cost about $50, and was a pretty good bargain. *y* Quote

Great work Hairy Ruben, I love it already, give me 20. 20? yeash, as long as the money's flowing my workers will have jobs and the EN will have their hardware :-D *pirate* I have to agree with everyone else that the sub is wonderful, and looks great. Yeah I know, due to the limitations in bricks and user friendliness that working with LDD implies I've decided to leave it for what t was and just modify the design while building. I forgot to mention, most of my LDD designs will probably be modified in the future. It may not seem like it but just getting this far in LDD has taken me a month already. 8- Edited February 5, 2008 by Hairy Ruben Quote

Errorist Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Ruben did you do those alterations last night :-D you're becoming more addicted to LDD than me *vader* ps it looks better with the legthened rudders Quote
Capn Frank Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 Great sub Mr. Ruben! *y* Do you plan on having the bottom half red for the final product? You build a boat that sinks??That doesn't seem very smart. *wacko* I don't even see a single cannon or sail. How do you ever want do defend yourself or propel it?? Sigh. ... That's hilarious Mr. Tiber! :-D it gave me a good laugh for a while. :'-) Very nice. You've captured the shape very well. But wow! $$$$$ I don't think it'll be a problem General. Mr. Ruben is a Gazillionaire. ;-) ...ps it looks better with the lengthened rudders I have to agree with your bro Mr. Ruben *y* P Quote

Mr. Ruben is a Gazillionaire. ;-) I have to agree with your bro Mr. Ruben *y* - No, the finished product will be all purple greenish black, I only did the bottom half red because of LDD's colour restrictions. ;-) - Oh that will so be a problem, the one thing keeping me from starting right away are funds :-( I only have Edited February 7, 2008 by Hairy Ruben Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 (edited) Sounds promising! Can't wait for the BShelf to go public. EDIT: WOW! That looks EXPENSIVE! Edited February 5, 2008 by Lt. Col. Thok Quote
Opproperaar Posted February 7, 2008 Author Posted February 7, 2008 (edited) That's the last update for this sub. I'm not gonna bother finishing it for several reasosn though the main reason is because I feel a bit tired of this design. I've learned so much, but have also made mistakes, there's plenty of room for continued improvements and when I finally do build a submarine I want it to be bigger than this one. *sad* That's why I'm gonna take a break of about a week or two and start over in LDD with a new submarine project. Just like with my brother's frigate project I figure I'll have enough LDD experience after two or three creations to finally design something I DO want to order via bricklink. *sweet* X-D Edited February 7, 2008 by Hairy Ruben Quote

Opproperaar Posted February 8, 2008 Author Posted February 8, 2008 No! *sing* Tis a sad day in Water World. :'-( Ok, now that my sanity is back temporarily. :-P What type of improvements will you be implementing in your future designs? This design is really good; i'm just curious what there is to improve. :-$ P Well for one thing, there's the stern - it looks good from above but not from the side and the end is quite improvised here on this model. The bow still has two studs I can't possibly remove with all the puzzling combinations in my head and I want it to be completely smooth. The bow rudders are very improvised at the moment as are the rudders at the back. And though it is not yet my biggest concern the inside look of the fin is quite dull, empty and hideous. All these things I will systematically improve on with my next to BIGGER models ;-) before moving on the designing the one I want. :-$ However, in a year time I may re-design this boat. :-P Quote
