Via The Brothers Brick I learnt of this horror story; the discovery of M&g@ Bl%ks in a box of Lego! *sing* Once you have calmed down, I think everyone should take the time to consider how they would react. Many years ago, this did happen to me when I bought my Lego back off the people that I gave it to during my Dark/stupid Ages. After composing myself, what I did was throw it all away! However, I sometimes regret my actions; perhaps I should have burnt them? 8-|

So I ask; what would YOU do if this happened to YOU. (If the option isn't there ask me to add it! ;-) )

I buy, use, and enjoy Megabloks sets because I like building with interlocking plastic bricks and I'm not some sort of misguided brand-snob deino2.gif

However I've been displeased with them as of late because they've mostly turned away from the beautiful, large scale Probuilder models and have been concentrating on the "Minifig" type sets. Then there's the whole debacle with those Neo-Shifter things...boy were those a let-down.

Store it away and never use it. I still have 1 of two (I burnt the other one but regretted that) megablock Garbage Trucks, that was actually an MIB style alian thing. It was really well constructed, and, being from a few years ago, actually had pretty good quality bricks. I don't want it much, but its a memory, so I storre it under my bed *sweet*

Also, I am a bit skeptical of all the people claiming they burn them. Seriously? Toxic fumes galore, awful smell, not to mention the bin is just easier.

Batbrick Away! >:-)

Well I am! X-D My sister buys M&g# Bl@ks for her kids (a pro-builder yellow sports car was the last) and I feel the quality is inferior to Lego. But it's just an opinion... and this is just a light hearted poll. ;-) I've never heard of NEO Shifters... and that page I just linked to reads like a press release. :-| What's wrong with them?

At this point, I "Store it in a safe place and never use it" but that won't ultimately be the last word on the subject.

A little background.

I've never bought any intentionally, but with eBay sellers being basically soulless, they have ended up in my possession through LEGO purchases. Worst eBay deal I ever had was 2lbs of mixed LEGO (as they called it) for under $8, shipped. Of those, over half were clones. It was a sad experiment I've not repeated. That purchase is still sitting in the box it arrived in. I picked a few parts out and haven't had the heart to sort the rest.

The ones I have sorted out of previous orders, thankfully few, are all in a box together, safely kept away from everything else. My first instinct was to toss, burn, or otherwise destroy them, but I haven't been able to convince myself of it yet. I did take a moment to look at them, feel them, confirm that I could never use them, and once that was over, I closed up the box.

I've considered donating them to a school or somewhere, but for the life of me, I can't get over the feeling that I would be doing a dastardly evil upon the next generation that way. :-/

So for now, stored. In the future... don't know yet. |-/

Neo-Shifters ended up being nothing more then constructible Transformers...that is...if Transformers all changed into mechanical spheres :-P

The main problem was, the pieces aren't very interchangeable. They have one socket or hole or connection point that connects to another very specific connection point. And the pieces are very location specific on the model you're building...so unless you want to do nothing more then swap legs, heads, and arms between the different robots, there is no rebuilding the parts into anything different.

With Bionicle parts you can build just about anything, and they're still completely compatible with other Technic and Basic LEGO bricks. Neo-Shifter parts are useless for MOCing and connect to nothing else.

I was so hoping for a cool "Megaonicle" thing to mess around with on the side...alas my first and only Neo-Shifter went straight into a box in the garage within 48 hours :-D

When I was growing up, my parents bought me a few MB and Best-Lock kits, so I still have some clone bricks floating around. Since there are so few parts from those old sets left, the ones I find take a quick trip to the trashcan. I have no qualms about this, since the number of bricks involed is far too few to give to charity. If I were to find, say, a ProBuilder set laying around, I would give it to Goodwill or the Salvation Army.

On a side note, that Wikipedia entry on NeoShifters is pretty funny. It's as though an uber-fan or MB employee wrote it. I'm no fan of Bionicle, but I will admit that some elements from it are useful in MOCs or sets, like the nicely articulated dragons from the Vikings line. By contrast, NeoShifters seems poorly compatible with other MB themes, from what Deinonychus has observed.

As I buy mixed lots of mixed Lego off Ebay I get a few MB mixed in occasionally :-X

Anyway I'll usually wait till i'll have about a decent pile then I'll sell it in the MB catagory on ebay, I'll get 4-5 bucks out the deal with helps with other Lego purchases.

It's turning evil into good.

Didn't see that choice though so I just put throw it away.

Thanks for the answer! *sweet* My searches found nothing but PR and shops. :-/

True. While I regret buying some of my Bionicles, I do find uses for some of the specialised parts. For example, the engine mount on my Block Block entry is a Rahkshi torso. :-P

Good idea! I'll add it and change your vote. *sweet*

Thank you for that link, Sinner. A very fine and good told story that was. *y*

What would I do? I guess I would just run, leave home and never come back.... :-/

I bought a large box of mixed Lego at an auction a few months back, it had some great Lego stuff in it, but sadly a few MB bricks. :-/ I sorted through and put all the MB bricks in their own sealed back (quarantined :-P ). I haven't got rid of them yet, don't know why, but I think I will, because I would never use them. X-D

I have no M&*$@cks or any other sorts of fake bricks though their could be some among those used LEGO bricks I and my brother once bought from eBay. But so far I haven't found a single brick that was not produced by TLC.

Are you crazy to destroy M&*$@cks? I'd rather sell them on eBay, and if someone's crazy enough to buy them, I'd use the money for LEGO stuff, of course! :-)

I didn't inhale and never tried it again.
Yeah, right >:-) :-P!

Being the huge Pirates of the Caribbean fan that I am... (Can you guess what's next? ;-))

I am the proud (yes! :-P) owner of Shipwreck cove, Tia Dalma's shack, Davy Jones and Escape from Singapore. Torture me if you must, but I quite like their style of minifigs. Works very well for a licence, I think.

However... their construction bricks suck! LEGO always fits, but some parts of my MegaBloks Singapore don't hold together. Even though I'm precisely following the instruction booklet. Some bits just keep snapping out of place. Hmpf. LEGO never presents this problem...

I like my Pirates display, MegaBloks sets and all. But their other themes don't interest me in the slightest, so from now on I'll stick to LEGO. Until Pirates 4 comes out, that is. X-D

The must be destroyed at all costs!

Yup, indeed

To me the spirit of lego is to see how well you can combine those interlocking bricks and see what you end up with, to see just how well you are of a builder and have fun doing so. The brand doesn't matter, the toy does. :-/

So yes, I buy, use and most definitely enjoy Megabloks, as well as blending it in with lego. Their pro-builder series has lots of potential as far as I'm concerned. :-D :-D

:-D

I guess I'll soon be walking around here with an angry red M branded onto my forehead deino2.gif

Hahaha, that makes two of us ;-) Anybody else willing to join in? X-D
