Hinckley Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 All right I had some challenges this time, but instead of making excuses, I'm just going to show it to you guys and wait for feedback. Here is my elf princess, v1: Please give feedback and constructive criticism. Thanks. :-) Update: Elf Princess V.2 Update: Elf Princess V.3 Quote
Stauder Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Wow Hinkley! No wonder you still have a job as a graphic editie thingy... X-D The one flaw I see is that it's not as shiny as the rest of the body, but Im guessing those are normal paper decals to see how it looks and you will later use shiny ones? :-) What set is that dark red dress from? [Critisizm] You can see the dark red on the top of the dress[/Critisizm] Stauder *y* Quote
Scouty Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Great work here, Hinkley *y* ! Does the middle part of her dress form a heart :-D ?! One comment: -The bellybutton could, maybe, be blended in more into the body of the figure (decal). Quote
Batbrick Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Really good, I love it. The detailing is amazing, and the dress in particular looks great. My criticisms lie, like Stauder, in the fact that it is unshiny as opposed to that actual parts, and that there is nothing particularly "elfish" about it enough to distinguish her as another species. Apart from that ts brilliant, but it kinda just looks like a Princess, not an Elf Princess :-/ Batbrick Away! >:-) Quote
Stealth Hunter Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 (edited) Awesome fig, but there isn Edited February 16, 2008 by Stealth Hunter Quote
Shadows Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I don't care what the critics say, she's *wub* So *wub* that I didn't even notice how unshiny her lovely body is. ;-) *smacks Staudie with a lamp post* As for not being elfish, I'll tell you what... send her to me and I'll be s elfish enough for both of us. :-P I really do like her. *y* Quote
Asuka Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 I want to marry her.... *wub* Ahem, nevermind.... :-$ a very nice work indeed. *y* Quote
Vimes Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Great work, looks amazing! The fine detail, the lively and lordly expression. It's a minifig, yes, but it is graceful... *y* Quote
Siegfried Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 She's pwetty. *wub* This (and the Strider fig) make your previous work look rather lame.... :-$ My only complaint are her breasts. They simply are not big enough. I realise that it doesn't matter to you, but it does to me. (...and no, I don't care that some people think that elves all have small breasts. X-D ) Quote

X-D ) Doesn't matter to me? I want huge boobies. Not in real life, just on the mini-fig. But, the shading is all off and I need to revisit that. She needs to be busting out all over the place. That's one problem I have with this particular custom. The other problem is that this was the last sheet of white decal paper and I had printed the Strider torsos on the top half. So this piece had laser burn. That's what that texture is in the skirts. Also, I have no idea why my clear coat isn't showing up glossy like it has on my other customs. That's just weird. The paper's glossy and so is the clear coat... *wacko* Besides that, I really like the way the skirts turned out and the ornate belt that looks like a tiger's face. Working in Illustrator, I have it so magnified I'm never really sure it's going to translate right until I print it. Oh, I forgot to post the source picture, duh...I will do that soon. I'm working on a super special project... ;-) But yes, Sinner. Despite my ... er ... orientation, I want boobies. And abs, she needs abs. :-P Quote

Shadows Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 I don't mind a bit of pudge... ;-) Sinner and I are clearly of the same mind here. ;-) Curvalicious Elfgirls On! *y* Quote
natelite Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 nice decals!! this is way better than yoe previous elves. :-D good job. did you do the head as well? looks like the ninja princess but it looks good with it. Quote

zero1312 Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 (edited) Sweet!!! *wub* But I think she would look alot better with actual legs. ;-) Edited February 17, 2008 by zero1312 Quote

Hinckley Posted April 13, 2008 Author Posted April 13, 2008 I've updated this custom for the Castle Month Elflands Contest. I used the same design but changed the colors because I have the best luck with white right now. I am also making an elf prince, but he's not dry yet. So, here she is, the updated elf princess: Feel free to leave feedback, it's much appreciated! Quote
Batbrick Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 (edited) Great stuff there Hinckley! She is....er...very attractive Great choice of face and hair too, I love the white colour scheme for her, I really hope the elves next year are like this. Brilliant job all round, except for one thing: Cleavage! She is needing some serious deep cleavage to drool at there man! How can she be "busting out all over the place" if you can't see a deep line of cleavage?!? Er, was that a bit much? Batbrick Away! Edited April 13, 2008 by Batbrick Quote
Shadows Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 So, here she is, the updated elf princess: She's pretty, which is no surprise, you do manage to create pretty girls. WHITE. Winner! Any chance you could tell me the exact printing measurements for such a skirt, so I can make a template for said piece? I've been wanting to add one to a couple of things I've made, and I just don't trust my measuring skills. Perhaps I should buy a ruler? As I say, pretty! But ... Brilliant job all round, except for one thing: Cleavage! She is needing some serious deep cleavage to drool at there man! How can she be "busting out all over the place" if you can't see a deep line of cleavage?!? Here we go again, back to the boobies... If I had to make an honest observation about the torso itself, I think it's just too busy. There is so much nice detail to observe that you lose the total experience. One of the things that works so well in official torsos is simplicity. She's complicated. You could sit and stare for several minutes, soaking in all the fine lines and curves. As a result, you miss the overall gut feeling, the glancing impression. Does that makes sense, or am I rambling? Seriously though, don't touch that skirt. I it in white so much more than the dark red! It works perfectly. It'd work with an almost solid white top consisting of litte more than flowing white fabric and a plunging neckline with a clasp/pendant centrally located. Quote

I second that. That was the first thing I thought when I saw it : the details are fantasticly done but there's too much of it... Did you have references for the dress design? it reminds me of Zelda's in her more recent incarnation but in a simplified version. Anyway, great work. Oh and I'm all for a cleavage too HOT ELF ON! Sir Dano Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 (edited) All I can say is Oh, and I fourth that cleavage remark. Edited April 21, 2008 by sir dano Quote

I've been wanting to add one to a couple of things I've made, and I just don't trust my measuring skills. Perhaps I should buy a ruler? The dimensions are 15.5 mm x 18.9 mm or 183 x 223 pixels at 300 dpi. Thanks for the feedback guys! less detail, huh? No problem there, that'll save me a lot of work on these decals. I did have a visual reference: but thanks for the zelda pic, yellost. I think I will base a design off of her. It's really nice! And I get the cleavage bit, okay. I actually use a real simple technique to add cleavage but thought the actual cut of the dress wouldn't show cleavage because it's not skin tight...but, I'll see how it looks. The prince is almost dry and I'll post him soon along with my Elflands Contest entry. Quote
