Governor Mister Phes Posted March 1, 2008 Governor Posted March 1, 2008 Created by Kevin "Tyrant596". "Conquistdor with sun, surf, fresh fish, treasure, but no fresh agua." I found this on MOCpages. For a simple vignette it seems to have received a lot of positive feedbkback. Quote
Scouty Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I'm not sure I would even classify this as a vignette 8-| Anyway, it is a nice little creation. And a rather funny description :-D . All riches but no water! Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I like it, it's a simple idea and it's well done. These are often the best creations in my mind. The captions is great also. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 1, 2008 Author Governor Posted March 1, 2008 I'm not sure I would even classify this as a vignette 8-| Why not a vignette? What would you classify it as then? Quote
SlyOwl Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I'd personally make this 8x8, but I like it all the same *y* Hey, isn't that Mr Phes sunbathing? X-D Why not a vignette? Vignettes are generally 8x8. They also represent one moment in time, whereas this is an ongoing scene as there is no action taking place. ;-) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 1, 2008 Author Governor Posted March 1, 2008 Where are these standards for vignettes defined? I'd like to read up on them sometime... Quote
LegoLyons Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Where are these standards for vignettes defined? I'd like to read up on them sometime... Me too, surely its up to the "designer" I like the idea, but not sure the palm tree bases look right on the sand/water. The rest of it is cool. *y* Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 How true! Very nice vig, I like the use of the new chest. Quote
SlyOwl Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 (edited) Where are these standards for vignettes defined? I'd like to read up on them sometime... Lookee here! X-D It's just a sort of standard size for using in competitions, making it easy to compete without exhausting your brick supply. Like this: Go on, Phes, build a vignette! *sweet* Edited March 1, 2008 by SlyOwl Quote
SirNadroj Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Looks like a simple and relaxing life for that conquistador. Except for the part about being dead. X-D I like the use of the new golden treasure chest! *y* (Though I would have preferred the ark! ;-) ) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 1, 2008 Author Governor Posted March 1, 2008 Lookee here! X-D It's just a sort of standard size for using in competitions, making it easy to compete without exhausting your brick supply. Interesting. However it does mention 16x16 bases... Go on, Phes, build a vignette! *sweet* Ok, but you'll have to finish of Article Part IV and the Classic-Pirates.com MySpace... Quote
kill will Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Why not a vignette? What would you classify it as then? A dead version of your sig-fig! :-P Same armor, same helmet, it's you! Quote
SlyOwl Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Ok, but you'll have to finish off Article Part IV and the Classic-Pirates.com MySpace... Surely you can spare just an hour or so? You can't really like Lego without ever building anything X-D If that's not enough motivation, then I'll challenge you to a smackdown. One week to build a vignette or you're a codfish if you refuse! :-D Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 1, 2008 Author Governor Posted March 1, 2008 I'm codfish. My MOCing skills are very limited and it takes me hours to do even simple things. I'm starting to get busy to the point where I'll be taking time away from the forum so things like article Part IV, V and the MySpace must be taken care of before that happens, or they won't get done. So I'm not willing to spend even an hour to build. Nonetheless there are several MOCs I've created in this forum, go find them. Anyway, I think MOCing is best left to users like yourself who have superb skills. Go pump out half a dozen vignettes and show us how it's done! Quote
SlyOwl Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 I'm codfish. Oh, good! Governor Mister Phes Posted March 9, 2008 Author Governor Posted March 9, 2008 :'-( I guess this bignette is rather too appropriate in that case :'-) I changed it to MOCETTE in the thread title. I shall! Ikimasho! :-D Have you found any of MOCs yet? I don't seem to have any new posts in their threads telling me how outstanding they are yet X-D Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Very cool. I love the hammoc. Where did you get the inspiration to build this or were you just putting pieces together one day when you came up with a prety cool hammoc idea? Regards, Captain Zuloo ;-) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted March 10, 2008 Author Governor Posted March 10, 2008 Errr... We don't know the creator of this MOCETTE... I found it on Brickshelf a few weeks and no information about the builder has come our way... yet... Quote
tedbeard Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 It seems to me that using the small island plate makes a great "standard" for pirate-themed vignette/bignette/MOCettes. We need a more appropriate name though. "Buccaneer Bignette" or "Treasure Islands". Something more clever than I can think of the day after the switch to Daylight Savings Time over here. *sweet* Quote
SlyOwl Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Have you found any of MOCs yet? I don't seem to have any new posts in their threads telling me how outstanding they are yet X-D I found them, but I closed the window and I can't be bothered to trawl through 20+ pages of your threads :-$ I changed it to MOCETTE in the thread title. I think you misunderstood; I didn't mean that it should be called a Bignette, but that it is all to appropriate as it shows a dead Mr Phes *sad* But you can still do the killing! X-D Quote
zouave Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 The hammoc looks cool. This is a very nice mocette, or whatever it's called. Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 A nice simple MOC, and we all know the moral of the story; Treasure is a man's best friend! Quote
Scouty Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I think you misunderstood; I didn't mean that it should be called a Bignette, but that it is all to appropriate as it shows a dead Mr Phes *sad* That's not Mister Phes. Mister Phes holds a cutlass, not a pistol. HA! :-P . Quote
SlyOwl Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Mister Phes holds a cutlass, not a pistol. Tomayto Tomarto. X-D Quote
