Hinckley Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 In a fit of narcissism, I used the "Hinckley/Hagrid" head for my elf prince figure: I already fixed the white shirt part of the decal so the strings closing the neck aren't so thick. It's hard to see under the cape, but it's pretty blatant without it. Feedback is always greatly appreciated. Thanks. Update: V.2 Quote
Faramir Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 (edited) Looks really nice! Good colors and elfishness (Not really a handsome enough face to pass off for an elf, though ) What do you mean by the neck strings? You mean that you trimmed them back so that you can't see them? If so, that's a pretty good idea. The only problem is that it looks a lot like the SigFig I'm constructing... <Faramir-< Edited April 13, 2008 by Faramir Quote
SirNadroj Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 I like it alot! Compared to my sterotype of a regular elf, this one certainly looks princely. The colours also work nicely together, IMO. Quote
Batbrick Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Very nice Hinckley, I love the choice of colours and design. One thing though: Where is the cleavag -- Nevermind Is that bow and bowholder (name escapes me) in that new chocolate brown? Overall it looks great, one criticism (and this may be one of opinion anyway), is that it looks a tad "dressy". I'm not sure, perhaps if you just added a belt or tucked his shirt in, I'm getting a little bit of a feminine vibe from it. I know Elves aren't meant to be manly or anything, so I'm probably wrong anyway Batbrick Away! Quote
Asuka Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 A good color scheme and an interesting vest pattern, very nice for sure but maybe a bit more oriental looking than elfish.... Quote
Shadows Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Looks good! I like the white here, just as I did in the Princess, and green makes a natural and striking choice for the detail. Great job! In a fit of narcissism, I used the "Hinckley/Hagrid" head for my elf prince figure: I'm getting a little bit of a feminine vibe from it. I know Elves aren't meant to be manly or anything Next he'll accuse the Elf Prince of playing softball or something. Quote
JimBee Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Goob job, i really like those bows! nice decal (it is a decal, right?) i know im being a little picky here, but i think the head is wrong. i dont know, i just doesnt seem apropriate for an elf... hope you make more, and an elf faction/ LOTR sets from TLC! Hinckley Posted April 20, 2008 Author Posted April 20, 2008 Thanks everyone for the nice feedback. I've incorporated a lot of the advice you gave me... Update-Version 2: less prince, more elf- Is that bow and bowholder (name escapes me) in that new chocolate brown? No, that is black... A good color scheme and an interesting vest pattern, very nice for sure but maybe a bit more oriental looking than elfish.... Thanks for pointing that out. I hadn't noticed because I was too concerned trying to make it match the princess. I simplified it as was a lot of the advice I got on the Princess figure as well. Continued feedback is welcome. Thanks. Quote
Shadows Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 I simplified it as was a lot of the advice I got on the Princess figure as well. Yes! That's exactly what we meant! He still looks regal, but not out of place in the woods. Now... picture if you will, instead of being a prince, you make 4 of these with different heads and hair to serve as the escorts/bodyguards for the Princess. SCORE! Of course, I'd give them shields and have them pair off, two left and two right, with opposing shield arms, but that's all obvious. Whatever you do with him, he looks good. Detailed, yet simple. Clean, but not boring. Mind you, I'd kill for an official dark green cape and hood instead of the quiver. Why doesn't TLG think of these things??? (I know, it's supposed to be singing, but he's always looked like he's yelling in anguish to me) Quote
Asuka Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Now that one looks simply wonderful, modest yet plain marvelous too. I hadn't noticed because I was too concerned trying to make it match the princess. I simplified it as was a lot of the advice I got on the Princess figure as well. To fit in with the style of your great princess design´s quite understandable, and it worked somehow, too. Just for some reason, that certain pattern that looked so fine on your princesses just looked a tad overrepresented on your prince, perhaps.... Quote
