lluisgib Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 I've been working for a while, to develope a Slot car made with LEGO bricks As you can see, the car base is very simple. Consist in a PF motor and a small number of bricks The slot guide is from a SCX old car, which has the hole of the same size of the technic axle From this base, the imagination allows to build any kind of car. This is an example, a <insert that tiresome argument> F1. The car really runs nice. It's funny. I've done a video to show you how it runs Enjoy Lluis Quote
LuxorV Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Very nice and clever combo! I those racers sets when I was younger, and you make me want to build them again . LuxorV Quote
Brickmaster Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 (edited) Very cool, electronics are your forte I am guessing? I would only recommend thinner wheels, on the front atleast, for less drag as it goes around, possibly even on the back. The very thing belt like wheels would probably do great. Oh the front wheels independent? this could reduce drag. Edited April 16, 2008 by Brickmaster Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Wow nice work! I also like that slotmachine you made a lot! Quote
Asuka Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 A LEGO slot car, what a fine idea and very well done too! Quote
phoinix Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 you just reminded me of a fine toy i used to have as a child! i used to love this! great idea! Quote
Ralph_S Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 That's a really nice idea! I saw these on brickshelf this morning. I was never into slot car racing, but I can imagine that being able to have your own design running down the track is pretty neat. Just little nitt-pick: perhaps posting lower resolution pictures in the forum would be a better idea. I've got a pretty fast internet connection and nonethless it took ages for them all to appear. Cheers, Ralph Quote
pe668 Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 Lego is great for building just about anything, not just slot cars but it's great for race scenery as well. I made some Lego slot cars awhile ago in a smaller guage using afx motors and track. Bikes Lego pits And trains are the best background for race tracks Lots of pictures in the racing section at Bodville and high quality movies too. http://home.netspeed.com.au/mephisto/bodville/default.html Lego Racing on YouTube (low quality) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mVb--2ji1o Bodville movies on YouTube (low quality) http://www.youtube.com/results?search_quer...mp;search_type= Quote

Freddie Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 Lego Racing on YouTube (low quality)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_mVb--2ji1o That video is made from awesome - it has a professional "advertisement"-feel to it, but is very entertaining to watch. Love the cars, love the action. Sweet layout, too. Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 Wow pe668. Great work! I love the video and the whole idea of the LEGO AFX. Very clever. I hope you continue to add videos. Quote
