xenologer Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 (edited) Piranha interceptor Its a very light space fighter, intended mainly for acceleration over arms and armor. Basically this started out as me asking, what happens if we take the basic shape of that StarJustice flyer and make it into a full fledged space fighter? It's also influenced by retro and videogame style spaceships much SNOT was used to streamline the cockpit walls hard to see from some angles in LDD, but theres the 'shark gills' on the sides engine looks like the SJ one, but construction has been reworked to make the side slopes stronger The only thing I wish could be better is it lacks retractible landing gear; I just couldnt figure a way to make them that didnt spoil the sleek bodylines, so its lands on those little fins It has a really good price tag. That was one of my goals too, there are plenty of space fighters on LDD, but I don't see many polished ones, and even fewer that are reasonably priced. LDD EDIT, after building a RealBricks version, decided to make slight color changes, mainly the lasers, some small yellow bits turned white. Also put thrusters on wingtips. xenologer Posted June 5, 2008 Author Posted June 5, 2008 Seeing as how this MOC didnt get noticed (got lost in the SpaceDock forum merge i guess) Here's some photos of a Piranha made with my RealBricks. Since this is made with my own bricks (not ordered from LDD) some colors and parts are changed, most visibly the location of yellow on wings, and the grilles are black than yellow. It really does photograph better in person than when LDD draws it. Guess its too much white and lack of real shadows that makes it hard to visualize digitally. But yeah Its a cool little fighter. With a good price designed for mass production. I'm really proud of the SNOT work on the sides, its quite strong. Add one to your fleet. Quote
Asuka Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 I like it! I like the thrusters, the fresh color scheme, the sleek front and the distinct engine section. These fins worked well as landing gear for the X-wing and they work fine with your fighter too. Quote
Siegfried Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Sorry, I missed this! Maybe it was my fault with timing of the merge. All things considered I quite like it, the opening canopy and wingtip thrusters for roll and reverse are a very nice touch. (You still need some in the nose though... ) Quote
