Batbrick Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Actually it was the 60s film that got me into Batman. I watched it when I was young, and enjoyed it. Of course, I took it seriously then, but it was my first Batman experience. Then my library got a graphic novel section, and I got a few out. That was it. I kept reading, and became more involved in the continuity of the DCU, and the Marvel Universe to a lesser extent. Excessive reading coupled with my scarily good memory made for a fierce combination That's great, the 60's Batman was a great show, I hate it when people look down upon it for its campiness, that campiness is what makes it so great! I went a similar way with BTAS, going on to comics and such. I had a dark age with comics not long ago, which would explain a few things I've had to read up on, I normally have a great memory and such, seems being a Batfan and being a work geek goes hand in hand I do. I did a few modules in January, as most people did, then the rest of this years start around the middle of May (I think the first one is May 15th). Still, they're all out of the way by the end of the first week in June. That's good, no one likes to many exams. Where I go we don't get many, more "evaluation" pieces like my english war essay (top marks, woo! ) and short war story i wrote, they were both evaluation pieces. BTW, a bit off topic, but what time is it over there? Oh, I keep all my Lego boxes. They're all collapsed and tied together down the side of my wardrobe. I've started that too, I've saved the Batcopter, Battank, Arkham, UCE Batmobile so far. Excluding the Batman boxes, I only keep the front cover which I cut off boxes, and cut out the minifig sheet found on the boxes side if i ever need them. It's great how TLC have printed the diamonds on her legs. We don't often get leg priniting (although it has become increasingly common). It's a nice simple design, but one that truly captures Harley. And it's much the same for the other Bat-figs. I love that too, leg printing is fantastic. The Dark Wizard and Good Wizard are great examples of this. The Batfigs are not toys to me, they are art! We do seem to have got a strange number of new minifig molds this year. The new hairpieces, the jesters hat, the dwarf beards, the Castle helmets (orc, dwarf), etc.TLC can only afford a small number of new molds each year, so maybe that's why we've not seen an awful lot these past couple of years. They've been saving them for this year. And we're loving it! I really must get that advent calender, 2008 is just overfeeding us with goodness so far, all those new elements are just so exciting that I am ashamed to admit I get a bit giddy thinking about them all Oh, and thanks for chatting with me btw, it feels really good to be able to talk about my favourite character to someone who is actually willing to listen, thanks. Batbrick Away! Quote

We're just into Season 2, the one where the villains start to interact a little more. I am too, a little. Perhaps paradoxically, I'm a mathmatician as well. That means I'm good with numbers and words. I'm writing my own comic actually (just script, not art), sort of half way between Heroes and X-Men in the approach and style. My friends are going to do edit for me, but from an outside non-fanboy perspective. BTW, a bit off topic, but what time is it over there? Like it's a new thing... And it's nearly 15:45. I keep talking excitedly to my friends about all the stuff I wast this year. I think I easily have the most expensive hobby out of the three of us. One is into football (watching, not playing) and the other rifles and shooting. But mine's more expensive than both. Oh, and thanks for chatting with me btw, it feels really good to be able to talk about my favourite character to someone who is actually willing to listen, thanks. That's quite alright, and I suppose I should thank you too. My friends will listen, but they can't really comment. You can, and you do. EDIT: Thanks for the pics whung. Hope you don't mind my linking of your BS gallery earlier. As for the hair discrepancies, I think the first one may be an older pic, while the other two are newer and are of the final finished set. Batbrick Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 BBC4 are reapeating all of it over here, on Tuesday and Wednesday nights (ie one two-parter every week), and I'm really enjoying it. We're just into Season 2, the one where the villains start to interact a little more. We've not had any multivillain storylines yet, but Catwoman made a guest appearance in the Ma Parker story, and the main rogues have mentioned each other a little. That's why the movie is so funny (excluding the shark and hard-to-get-rid-of bomb), the whole villain teamup. I really must buy that series one day, I love Frank Gorshin's Riddler and The Penguin (forgot the actor's name, was it Burgess Meredith perhaps?) It's funny to watch a later season ep when the budget started to drip, the sets get cheaper and cheaper... Oh are you a writer as well. I love writing, though I prefer a non-comic-like approach. I tend to try non-linear storytelling, plot twists, themes and abnormal writing styles. I also am really good at essays. I'm a bit like you in that I'm rather good at maths in addition ( I can do puns too). I can do poetry as well, though I have to focus, as poetry borders a thin line between normal narrative and a song. Your project sounds interesting, it's good to have friends who will do that for you, back when i made stop-motion animations with Lego my friends provided the voices which was great. Like it's a new thing... , I nearly made a comment on that! And it's nearly 15:45. Interesting, right now it is 1:30 in the morning! That's okay for me though, as I get a looong weekend off (five days). So am I. I keep talking excitedly to my friends about all the stuff I wast this year. I think I easily have the most expensive hobby out of the three of us. One is into football (watching, not playing) and the other rifles and shooting. But mine's more expensive than both. Just trying to figure out if you are trying to tell your friends all the stuff you waste this year or all the stuff you want this year , I'll pick the latter. I do that with my brother a lot, who listens to me. He is a nut, does trampolining, breakdancing and flippy things that would break my back! Mine is also easily the most expensive hobby, but it's worth it, isn't it? Plus people think you are weird when collecting Lego, but when a collection grows big enough, they think it's awesome. That's quite alright, and I suppose I should thank you too. My friends will listen, but they can't really comment. You can, and you do. Thanks, my friend gets me in a headlock if I talk to him about DC too much. I made a comment about his speedy retrieval to class after missing half the lesson, drawing an analogy with the "speed force", and promptly was told to shut up... EDIT:Thanks for the pics whung. Hope you don't mind my linking of your BS gallery earlier. I'll second that, thanks whung, much appreciated there. Batbrick Away! Quote
Brainbox Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I really must buy that series one day You're gonna struggle. The movie's the only part of the series that's been released. N real, definite reason has been given, but they reange from 'DC says no' to 'multiple studio/ownership problems'. That's why I taped them . And it was Burgess Meredith. Interestingly, he developed the squawk because the cigarettes were irritating his throat. I love writing, though I prefer a non-comic-like approach. I've never been any good at poetry though, so I just on't bother . Your project sounds interesting, it's good to have friends who will do that for you, back when i made stop-motion animations with Lego my friends provided the voices which was great. Batbrick Posted April 25, 2008 Author Posted April 25, 2008 You're gonna struggle. The movie's the only part of the series that's been released. No real, definite reason has been given, but they range from 'DC says no' to 'multiple studio/ownership problems'. That's why I taped them . Oh, damn. Since they're rarely on tv here that kind of makes me, I don't know..murderous. I'll just have to watch them on the net for awhile then. And it was Burgess Meredith. Interestingly, he developed the squawk because the cigarettes were irritating his throat. Ah, that's good memory for ya'. That squawk was great, amusingly enough it was actually a rather faithful take on the character. I'm good at essays as well, my coursework was always top at GCSE. I've never been any good at poetry though, so I just won't bother . Poetry is hard, I don't try it often. Not to boast, but I'm pretty happy with my writing skills, my war story essay was given top marks and the teacher and others are now using it as an example of high achievement for other classes (win! ). So that made me happy, I hope my "The Creature" war story goes just as good. I tell them they can read it, and that they should comment on any bits they want to, and hey presto... instant editor! Good idea actually, unfortunately doesn't work for my English classmates. "Can you read this please and make suggestions?" "You've lost me at the second paragraph Thomas"! It's meant to be four days actually due to the ANZAC holiday, but Tuesday is my birthday so no way am I going to do work (Or have work) on that day. Hang on... how did 'want' become 'wast'? They're nowhere near each other on the keyboard.Anyway, it is indeed worth it, and they do think it's pretty cool. They wouldn't bother themselves, but they'll happily admire my distinct art form. Yeah, it's good fun. Plus, I love building and taking pictures of all the stuff I do, people go "Did you REALLY make that!?" which is fun. As you say, they won't actually just start playing with it, but they give you a bit of respect for having your own thing. I managed to bore someone the other week by reeling off the 'names' and 'abilities' of 16 different types of Kryptonite... from the top of my head! The problem is when you get to black kryptonite, since their have been multiple times when that's done different things Which reminds me (Don't know how), how is that Bat Goody Bag part 3 coming along? Brainbox Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Good idea actually, I might do something similar if I can't extend the interior enough for him to stand in it. Maybe even have a hatch where the penguin are deployed!Yes, I'd hoped with all the new elements this year, some could be used to spruce up old figs. Still, atleast now we have multiples of figs, which means one can be used in a minifig box and I don't have to worry if I love one! And yes, I'm glad the line got this far, let's hope it continues, there is still Gordon, Babs, Batgirl, Tim Drake, Dick Grayson, Bullock, Montoya, Lucius Fox, Black BB suit Batman, Classic Dark Grey suit Batman, Batman Beyond suit Batman, Armoured suit Batman, Firefly, Clayface, Mad Hatter, Ventriloquest, Black Mask, Talia Al Ghul, Ra's Al Ghul, Professor Hugo Strange, Manbat, Gangsters, Huntress, Zatanna and of course Ace the Bathound. Killer Moth/Charaxes and his Mothmobile? I hear it blows up in the film though, that should keep you happy Yes, of course, though I can't imagine someone committing sixteen, let alone all of them. Green, red, Batman's (or Ra's Al Ghul's) synthetic red, artificial, Kryptonite-X/Kryptisium, blue, gold, purple, black, silver, Smallville silver, white, magic, X (not to be confused with Kryptisium), jewel, pink. There are also others, including Anti-, Bizarro red, blood and purple spotted. Nice, have you started Arkham yet? Yes, but not much has happened, I've not had the time. You might be able to see what is done here. Ignore the small tower that looks a bit out of place though. It's not actually fixed, merely sat on the baseplate, waiting to be used. As if the gems are usually given to villains because they are sexy! ))))) Hey, I would. Though I, frankly, doubt that she will be created.... I don't think that she's very well known among non-fans.... Especially as she's never actually had her own title. Well, apart from that miniseries in the 70s, and four issues as part of Grant Morrison's Seven Soldiers. That's odd. ) That's odd how Bat-fans think alike..... I never knew that it's your technique, Brainbox, but also had that version for my Penguin minifig.... ) Interesting. Unless you got it from Batbrick, in which case it came from me originally? Quote
Batbrick Posted April 28, 2008 Author Posted April 28, 2008 (edited) Killer Moth/Charaxes and his Mothmobile? , I still can't believe the "Anti-Batman" angle they tried to force on him, it just didn't work at all Would be a great fig though... Oh dear, can't please everyone can you? I reckon though, should it happen, he'll probably get an even better Batmobile in the third! Green, red, Batman's (or Ra's Al Ghul's) synthetic red, artificial, Kryptonite-X/Kryptisium, blue, gold, purple, black, silver, Smallville silver, white, magic, X (not to be confused with Kryptisium), jewel, pink. There are also others, including Anti-, Bizarro red, blood and purple spotted. As stated by me before, the problem with black is the subvariants, but I'll let that slide. I always thought Green, Red and Gold were the best = one makes him die, another makes him go nuts, another strips him of his powers. But then again, there's nothing like a contrived plot using a different variant of Kryptonite is there? Impressive by the way. And scary. Very scary... Yes, but not much has happened, I've not had the time. You might be able to see what is done here. Ignore the small tower that looks a bit out of place though. It's not actually fixed, merely sat on the baseplate, waiting to be used. That looks great! I love the look you've given it, the castle parts have been used effectively so as not to make it "castley" but instead more of an asylum as it should be. Great Dalek poster there too, I really need to brush up on my Dr.Who knowledge, I know so much about the old ones but very little of the new series, though I did love the "Dalek" episode and the two-parter too. Hey, I would. Sad thing being, she'd still drop you for her "lovin' puddin" Especially as she's never actually had her own title. Well, apart from that miniseries in the 70s, and four issues as part of Grant Morrison's Seven Soldiers. We can always hope, plus how useful would her fishnet stocking be for City mocs and Gotham street mocs, hookers anyone? *People stare awkwardly at Batbrick* Er, anyway, I could have sworn she had a recent run in a small series... Interesting. Unless you got it from Batbrick, in which case it came from me originally? I had a different design originally actually, and though I like yours better (Oh dear I'm overfeeding your ego) I was pretty proud of mine. Speaking of minifig customs ( ), I just got the Final Grand Prix Racers set today and have found the figs very useful. For one, I used the kid's head and red mechanic shirt with the lockhart hair for an out-of-costume Tim Drake. I also used the rather smug looking racer face with the blue Speed Racer shirt for an out-of-costume Dick Grayson (he look pretty smug as Nightwing, so that worked). I then used the girls face on Marion's white dress with the princess brown hair (which will be changed to the Agents ponytail hair in the future) for Talia Al Ghul. Since my birthday is tomorrow I'll have enough money to buy the truck set to get a suit for Brick rat's suggested Matches Malone, and a face for Ra's al Ghul. Additional suits in that set make for a good Falcone/Maroni/Zuco/Thorne/Generic mob boss character too. The batworld is growing baby! Have you any added characters? Batbrick Away! Batbrick Posted May 1, 2008 Author Posted May 1, 2008 He was quite good in Batgirl: Year One. A bit of a loser, but still good.Yeah, you got me, I just want the moth-mobile. But he's meant to be a loser, that's what makes him so hilarious! And a mothmobile would be cool in Lego. Thanks. I really need to find some time to work on it some more, as I'd quite like to get it finished. Yeah, i have that problem too, way too many other things I'm doing. Dark Victory arrived yesterday so I read that last night, fantastic book, and Tim Sale has really improved his art of women by the time of the book's release. Plus, Two-Face pistol whips the Joker, which is hilarious to see! As I mentioned in my interview, it's just another of the things I have a near-encyclopedic knowledge of. I think I have to say though, that I prefer the classic series to the new series. Sure, the new series are great, but the classics just have that... I don't know. Especially the UNIT years. The Brigadier is just fantastic. I thought you liked the new series for some reason. I've always been a fan of the classics, especially the days of the original master and very first eps (at which stage he was not yet a decided time lord) Probably Seven Soldiers. That might be it, but I could've sworn I'd sen her somewhere else, maybe i was actually reading an older run, who knows.... Ego? No, I'm much to great to have an ego... Wow, I wonder how great makes me then So has this one! Have you seen the trailer at all? The Joker bit is great, "Here's my card" *holds up Joker card* Um... yeah, you're right. Funny, why didn't I notice that? You were to distracted by her That said I did manage ot notice the white gloves part, but that's fine by me, easily fixed. Batbrick Away! Quote

No, I lolve the new series, they've all been fantastic ( ). It's just that as a Whovian, I find some aspects harder to accept as true Who lore *cough*Slitheen*cough*. That said thouhg, I suppose they're no worse that the Kandy Man... And I'm not all that bothered about the whole "Rose, Martha and Jack" are all head-over-heels in love with the Doctor. I tell you companions of old weren't like that at all. Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the romance angle, I just think it's a bit far having three (almost) consecutive companions all with similar feelings. That might be it, but I could've sworn I'd sen her somewhere else, maybe i was actually reading an older run, who knows.... She did have a mini-series during the 70s, maybe that's it? Batbrick Posted May 5, 2008 Author Posted May 5, 2008 Well exactly. I meant that before, but maybe it didn't sound like it. Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-MOTHMAN! (yes, I know it's Killer Moth) It'd be awesome if he was REALLY the true villain of TDK: "That Joker? He's just a pawn, soon Gotham will fear the power of.....THE KILLER MOTH! Ah... now I have to get it. For the pistol whipping Two-Face bit? There's a scene in it that made me go giddy when Two-Face beats up Joker following a threat, saying something along the lines of (tying in with TLC) "Who did you think you were dealing with?" *smack!* "Some second rate loser who'd let a maniac beat him up in his own house?" *whop!* "In front of his own wife?" *crunch!* "This is TWO_FACE you're dealing with!" Joker: "Errr" *collapses* Now THAT, is badass What? No, I lolve the new series, they've all been fantastic ( ). I left out a word in the old post, it was meant to say "Like the new series more for some reason" Yes, the little I have seen the show I didn't like the whole romance angle with each, I miss the days of the sidekicks who were good friends, like in the original Dalek eps when he had two accomplices. I don't pretend to have an innate knowledge of the Doctor of course, but I do know more than I let on She did have a mini-series during the 70s, maybe that's it? Did it get cancelled? That might be it if it was. Yes. I watched the (officiallt released) HD version earlier. Very, very cool. Have you spotted Two-Face, in the car scene with the revolver, pause, you can see a faint part of his burnt flesh on his other side I don't think the white gloves look all tnat bad. Sure, I may well swap them out for accuracy, but then I may not. Hmm, decisions, decisions... Me neither, but I'll swap them for comics accuracy, you of all people should know that! Now hurry up and post that Bat Goody Part three, I'm waiting to post my dragster already! Oh, and just to engage in a bit more comics talk and off topic banter, what series/comics,novels are you into now? I'm currently obsessed with Batman's early years. Having finally got Year One for my shelf recently, I've turned to collecting Matt Wagner's Dark Moon Rising duology (set during and a tad after Year One), Man Who Laughs (Joker first story directly after Year One, woo!), and Tim Sale's Haunted Knight and Catwoman:When in Rome chronicling her journey during Dark Victory (apparently it has his best artwork, and his - along with Brian Bolland - are my favourite artists). Yes sir! *salutes* Oh, and just to engage in a bit more comics talk and off topic banter, what series/comics,novels are you into now? I've just finished JLA: Kid Amazo and Superman/Batman vs Aliens and Predator from the library. Kid Amazo was okay, and Superman/Batman was really just an excuse for gratuitous crossover and shameless destruction The CEs I collect are currently printing: Fantastic Four Fantastic Four (albeit quite a way behind the US. We're on #535, while the US are on #557 this month) The Thing (currently on #5) Fatastic Four (currently on #35) Batman Legends The Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul (this issue had #3 and #4) All-Star Batman... just went on hiatus again at #10 Paul Dini's run on Detective Comics restarts next issue (can't remember what #) Superman Legends Last Son (currently up to #3, #4 next week) Justice (continued from the sadly cancelled Justice League Legends, the last half of #12 continues next issue/week) Escape from Bizarro World just finished Camelot Falls Vol 2 starts next issue Justice has been really good, thanks in part to Alex Ross' magnificent art. Resurrection... is shaping up nicely, All-Star is bonkers and Last Son has General Zod, Luthor and Bizarro- what more can you ask for? "Kneel before Zod." I'm hoping to get (52 tie-in) World War III, and the Countdown trades, along with Dark Victory soon. I'm currently obsessed with Batman's early years. I read The Man Who Laughs a few years ago and loved it. It's an early years story, which is a good thing to start with. Then you add in the Joker and Doug Mahnke's artwork, and well... I'll let you read it. When In Rome was pretty good too. Sale's Cheetah is strangely attractive (you know, for a cat)... Quote

Oh of course, you think you're The Master of Dr.Who knowledge! No, I think it was a mini-series. She was searching for her father Zatara. Maybe she wasn't the main character then, as I'm pretty sure it got cancelled. I think this definitely shows that she needs a bit more showing. I have now you've told me it's there! I like it, I was hoping that Nolan woludn't go too "realistic" with the scarring, but it looks like a good, slightly uneven, but still split burn from what I can tell. I also like the short clip of Joker burning the mob's money. Yes sir! *salutes* Good! We're on #535, while the US are on #557 this month) The Thing (currently on #5) Fatastic Four (currently on #35) Batman Legends The Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul (this issue had #3 and #4) All-Star Batman... just went on hiatus again at #10 Paul Dini's run on Detective Comics restarts next issue (can't remember what #) Superman Legends Last Son (currently up to #3, #4 next week) Justice (continued from the sadly cancelled Justice League Legends, the last half of #12 continues next issue/week) Escape from Bizarro World just finished Camelot Falls Vol 2 starts next issue The Alien/Predator comic crossovers are really just strange, but can be fun. Paul Dini on Detectives? He had a good run last time I believe, though I disliked how Riddler conveniently forgot hoe Bruce Wayne was Batman. You seem to be all over the place, I can barely afford Batman right now, my idea is to shape up a good Batman novel collection then expand to Superman. Though Superman will be harder, I want to collect the best stories but it's hard to find anything truly iconic like Bats except The Death of Superman. I'm a graphic novel guy, I prefer not to collect many issues. I wouldn't know much of Marvel though as I rarely read their stuff, it can be great mind you, but I'm a DC fanboy at heart. That and, from what I've read, Spiderman is going very strange as of recent, didn't his wife get retconned or something? Luckily for me, my mum's university has a far cheaper outlet for ordering Graphic Novels, and she gets them cheaper as she goes there, so instead of 50 dollars for Dark Victory it cost me 35! Justice has been really good, thanks in part to Alex Ross' magnificent art. Resurrection... is shaping up nicely, All-Star is bonkers and Last Son has General Zod, Luthor and Bizarro- what more can you ask for? I swear I read something with Alex Ross art, what else has he done? I didn't think Resurrection was all that great so far, who's writing? I think Ra's is overused of recent, he should be Batman's most powerful enemy, but not turning up every darn issue! Plus the Lazarus pits are getting stale... And of course All-Star is just hilarious, Black Canary's origin is so random! "Kneel before Zod." Curious he was never a major Supes Rogue till that movie, Zodd was so cool. I'm hoping to get (52 tie-in) World War III, and the Countdown trades, along with Dark Victory soon. Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory Dark Victory I read The Man Who Laughs a few years ago and loved it. It's an early years story, which is a good thing to start with. Then you add in the Joker and Doug Mahnke's artwork, and well... I'll let you read it. When In Rome was pretty good too. Sale's Cheetah is strangely attractive (you know, for a cat)... Oh I've already read it! I just want to buy it now! Though the art was fantastic I'd say the letdown was the Joker himself, he looked like he was diseased or something with all those lines on his face and non-existent red lips. Apart from that it's great, I love the part where Bruce poisons himself to see how the Joker thinks. It was also nice to see Joker started off as more of a hateful revenge being, and following that story become a much.....happier fellow Was his art good in it? Tim Sale is my favourite, so I have to have that and Haunted Knight. Batbrick Away! Quote
Brainbox Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 (edited) The way Morrison is going I'd say he IS the mystery villain in his latest run He's written weirder... Though I do plan to make a Lego Batman film when I get back into animating. I look forward to it. And if you need any oblique comics references or even any help with a script, you only have to ask. Maybe she wasn't the main character then, as I'm pretty sure it got cancelled. I think this definitely shows that she needs a bit more showing. Hmm, I don't know then. It wasn't Gotham Girls was it? I think that may have had a short run as a comic. I like it, I was hoping that Nolan woludn't go too "realistic" with the scarring, but it looks like a good, slightly uneven, but still split burn from what I can tell.I also like the short clip of Joker burning the mob's money. You know, I'm sensing a lot of TLH/Dark Victory parallels here. Joker burns the money just as Bats and Dent do in TLH, and of course there's the creation of Two-Face (well, the emergence of the persona, rather). The Alien/Predator comic crossovers are really just strange, but can be fun. Well exactly. Take it for what it is, it's great fun. I mean, two of the greatest movie icons meet two of the greatest icons ever. Paul Dini on Detectives? He had a good run last time I believe, though I disliked how Riddler conveniently forgot hoe Bruce Wayne was Batman. It's quite a long run, and the Riddler bits are touched upon, seeing as how he's apparantly gone straight and is operating as a private detective. It's Harley up next month, I can't wait. You seem to be all over the place Hey, balme the CEs. But at least the DC ones are actually printing up to date stuff. We actually caught up to the States with All-Star Superman, and now we've done the same with All-Star Batman. Although the release dates for those are all over the place. I wouldn't know much of Marvel though as I rarely read their stuff, it can be great mind you, but I'm a DC fanboy at heart. That and, from what I've read, Spiderman is going very strange as of recent, didn't his wife get retconned or something? I'm not that bothered in general, but I do have a bit of a liking of the FF. And it was just his marriage that was retconned, she's still alive. The demon Mephisto retconned their marriage to save Aunt May, keeping a small part of Peter and MJ's souls to feast on as they (the soul portions) cry for their lost love. But it seems that MJ altered the pact so that she'd remember the marriage. Peter can't though. Personally, I think it's a stupid idea. Along with Reed and Sue Richards and Ralph and Sue Dibny, the Parkers were one of the most enduring (and well-liked) comic book couples. I swear I read something with Alex Ross art, what else has he done? Justice, Kingdom Come, Batman: War on Crime, Superman: Peace on Earth, Wonder Woman: Spirit of Truth, Shazam: Power of Hope, Justice League: Secret Origins and Justice League: Liberty and Justice for DC, along with Marvels for Marvel. He's done a few things for other companies, etc, including art on the opening titles of Spider-Man 2. He's very good I didn't think Resurrection was all that great so far, who's writing? It's a multi-part, so all the writers of each Bat-title: Batman, Detective Comics, Robin and Nightwing, so... Grant Morrison, Paul Dini, Peter Milligan and Fabian Nicieza (yes, I checked). And of course All-Star is just hilarious, Black Canary's origin is so random! Have you got to this bit yet? "We keep our masks on. It's better that way." Was his art good in it? You kind of answered your own question there mate. It's Tim Sale, of course it's good. Right, onto those instructions. For starters, thanks Chuck. And Copmike for those pics. Nothing too surprising coming out of them, but it's nice to see the comic in the Penguin and... hmm, the Tumbler instructions don't seem to be working for me. I'll check back later for another go. Batbrick Posted May 7, 2008 Author Posted May 7, 2008 He's written weirder... And no doubt he will do in the future.... I look forward to it. And if you need any oblique comics references or even any help with a script, you only have to ask. That would be helpful thanks. I'm going to purchase back my old logitech camera from my friend and see if it still works. I want to do a No Man's Land type thing, with a lot of villains, so references would be a great help. I also want to reference major things too, who doesn't want to see Bane making a comment about last time he "broke the bat"? Hmm, I don't know then. It wasn't Gotham Girls was it? I think that may have had a short run as a comic. I think I might just give up, it was probably the run you mentioned earlier You know, I'm sensing a lot of TLH/Dark Victory parallels here. Joker burns the money just as Bats and Dent do in TLH, and of course there's the creation of Two-Face (well, the emergence of the persona, rather). Well they stated they were basing it part on TLH and Dark Victory. I thought the same thing when I saw Joker buring the money, a rather clever way to incorporate the Joker more heavily I th ink. We're also seeing a tiny bit from Scarecrow which will be great, he'll be the first villain to make it through two films! Well exactly. Take it for what it is, it's great fun. I mean, two of the greatest movie icons meet two of the greatest icons ever. Or in the case of Tarzan versus Alien versus Predator, just good fun. It's quite a long run, and the Riddler bits are touched upon, seeing as how he's apparantly gone straight and is operating as a private detective. It's Harley up next month, I can't wait. I believe this is where he gets in the batmobile for the first time "conscious' as he states. The writer's have stated that he isn't staying straight though, Edward Nigma will be up to his old tricks sooner or later. Hey, blame the CEs. But at least the DC ones are actually printing up to date stuff. We actually caught up to the States with All-Star Superman, and now we've done the same with All-Star Batman. Although the release dates for those are all over the place.I'm not that bothered in general, but I do have a bit of a liking of the FF. Nice, it's good when you get timing like that. Place I been to ordering comics is expensive, so for now graphic novels are my way, but I'm sure I'll find a place where I can order some runs. And it was just his marriage that was retconned, she's still alive. The demon Mephisto retconned their marriage to save Aunt May, keeping a small part of Peter and MJ's souls to feast on as they (the soul portions) cry for their lost love. Along with Reed and Sue Richards and Ralph and Sue Dibny, the Parkers were one of the most enduring (and well-liked) comic book couples. Ah, that was it. There was a great parody in "Marvel vs DC" about that, what a reference. I think its stupid too, a bit of credit to the sudden lack of ideas for writers really. He's done a few things for other companies, etc, including art on the opening titles of Spider-Man 2.He's very good Ah yes, I've seen his work in a few things, including one that had a more pointy eared Bats. Thanks for that, is War on Crime any good? It's a multi-part, so all the writers of each Bat-title: Batman, Detective Comics, Robin and Nightwing, so... Grant Morrison, Paul Dini, Peter Milligan and Fabian Nicieza (yes, I checked). Ah, I knew Grant Morrison and Paul Dini were on it. Dini's a bit of hit-and-miss for me lately. Have you got to this bit yet?"We keep our masks on. It's better that way." I had to put the comic down after that part, I was s shocked, what a "What the HECK?" moment! I mean, Morrison having Joker as a slight crossdresser I expected, but Bats making love to a woman WITH HIS MASK ON!?! You kind of answered your own question there mate. It's Tim Sale, of course it's good. Excellent....I'll have to get it soon then, I'm completing all the early years of Bats, something I should of done a long time ago. And I, er, think I'm getting to be more of a continuity geek.. Right, onto those instructions. For starters, thanks Chuck. And Copmike for those pics. Nothing too surprising coming out of them, but it's nice to see the comic in the Penguin and... hmm, the Tumbler instructions don't seem to be working for me. I'll check back later for another go. I like the Penguin comic too, very humourous. I like the construction of the sub too, should be easy to make the interior larger. Batbrick Away! Quote

Batbrick Posted May 8, 2008 Author Posted May 8, 2008 After all that. *sigh* now what? Really? I don't think I've heard that. Sunds good though. Read through this: http://www.empireonline.com/trailer/breakd...t.asp?NID=22514 There was another article that confirmed this but I couldn't find it, sorry. Yes, I think I've come across that somewhere. I don't mind the new angle, but I'd rather have the old Riddler back. Yeah, but it is a nice angle I think, but I'm still annoyed about the whole "I was in a coma so forgot your secret identity" thing From a writers POV, it's not that bad. It's a shock tactic that no-one was really expecting, and it's a way to revitalise the comic. But from a reader POV, well... Haha, good point, but sometimes I really think the readers could do a better job. Don't know, I've never read it. I don't even know what it's about (besides the obvious). Oh, I thought you had, you suggested it for a tale of Black Mask. Wait a moment, that was "War Crimes" wasn't it? How was that then? Ha, my bad influence obviously. Who else could it be? You'll never guess what though, but I am slowly transforming my friend into a batfan. He didn't know a thing about him but at my birthday sleepover loved BTAS, and now wants to see BB. He also wants to see a bit more of my comics, muhahAHAHAHA! :skull: Well, now that we have our own thread (pretty much), do you think we can still chat about the Lego? Because I'm dying to tell about all the things I want to do with the new Indy sets, but that would require me to explain a lot of comics nonsense that'll clatter up the other thread Batbrick Away! Ooh... Bat-sequel. Oh, I thought you had, you suggested it for a tale of Black Mask. Wait a moment, that was "War Crimes" wasn't it? How was that then? War Games actually, but I have read War Crimes as well. There's War Drums (the lead up to the gang war), three volumes of War Games (the actual gang war), and then War Crimes (focusing on the aftermath). Well, now that we have our own thread (pretty much), do you think we can still chat about the Lego? I shouldn't think it'd be a problem. As long as we don't take this thread off-topic as well! Quote
Batbrick Posted May 11, 2008 Author Posted May 11, 2008 Ooh... Bat-sequel. Featuring three of my favourite Bat-villains! It's a good time to be alive! War Games actually, but I have read War Crimes as well. There's War Drums (the lead up to the gang war), three volumes of War Games (the actual gang war), and then War Crimes (focusing on the aftermath). Are any of them good? At this early stage of finally getting my graphic novels I'd prefer to get the key ones first. Nice going. Nice, I'd like to see some of that one day, sounds good. I'd try it one day too, but for now I just love writing, especially when they read my "anonymous" essay in front of the class yesterday Though I do like to draw Batstuff, I really need to work on it though.., I shouldn't think it'd be a problem. As long as we don't take this thread off-topic as well! That can happen? I definitely find the Indy sets useful for my Batworld, like Mutt's hairpiece for Matches Malone. Batbrick Away! Quote
Brainbox Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Are any of them good? At this early stage of finally getting my graphic novels I'd prefer to get the key ones first. They're long. War Drums concerns Steph Brown's tenure as Robin, War Games is a big action epic, and War Crimes is Bats versus one of the deposed crime bosses (following Black Mask's coup). To be honest, I didn't much fancy War Games before my CE printed it, thinking a gang war would be a bit boring, but it turned out to be rather good. Well, except for the parts that were originally printed in Catwoman, as the art is a little odd. Nice, I'd like to see some of that one day, sounds good. I'd try it one day too, but for now I just love writing, especially when they read my "anonymous" essay in front of the class yesterday I'm enjoying writing it, and I've got lots of ideas just floating round. My friend even suggested some neat ideas which I may use somewhere down the line. It'a nice to try and write something a bit different to be honest. I'm more of a visual writer, and I can easily write good stron visual scenes, like battles or 'silent scenes', but I struggle more with humanistic character writing. That's what this is, although there will be a fair few battles. I definitely find the Indy sets useful for my Batworld, like Mutt's hairpiece for Matches Malone. Hmm... I like that. I just need to wait a couple more weeks, and I'll be able to afford some of the stuff I want. That's Speed Racer and Indy 4, so I should be able to make my Matches. Quote

Well, except for the parts that were originally printed in Catwoman, as the art is a little odd. Er, sounds like I'll skip it then, I'm still trying to get all the major comics and then get the lesser ones in order of continuity. And gang war boring? Never! TLH was great and gang war was a crucial element! I'm enjoying writing it, and I've got lots of ideas just floating round. I am pretty good at both. I might post my "The Creature" war story I had to write for English once. It's very black, very black. Character elements ARE hard to right but I find them the greatest parts of any stories. Hmm... I like that. I just need to wait a couple more weeks, and I'll be able to afford some of the stuff I want. That's Speed Racer and Indy 4, so I should be able to make my Matches. Yeah, I used Cruncher Block's suit torso for Matches, I might post a pic. Also, other things I'm using: Indy Nazis = Ra's henchman. They often wear tan militaristic uniforms, and though it is a bit of a stretch, they are simply too good not to display. What do you think? Smiley flesh head + black lockhart hair + Speed Racer red mechanic shirt = Out-of-costume Tim Drake. Speed Racer Grey Ghost head + Speed Racer blue shirt and white pants + black hair = Out-of-costume Nightwing. Marion dress + Speed Racer Trixie face + Castle princess brown hair + revolver ( ) = Talia Cruncher Block face + custom decal + yet-to-be-acquired green cape + yet-to-be acquired black JJ Jameson hair + sword = Ra's Al Ghul Cannonball Taylor face + Speed Racer announcer suit + brown hair = Sal Maroni. And a few others I've missed, I think they work good. Batbrick Away! Quote
Brainbox Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 And gang war boring? Never! TLH was great and gang war was a crucial element! Yeah, but I read War Games before I read TLH. Character elements ARE hard to right but I find them the greatest parts of any stories. I tend to just let characterisation come out in the writing, rather than put it there. If it happens, it happens. He wants a few character sketches before he reads any further though, so as not to get confused as to who characters are. The main cast is approaching 20! Yeah, I used Cruncher Block's suit torso for Matches, I might post a pic. Oh no you won't! You gave me dibs on Matches, just because I was the first one to post the idea. Indy Nazis = Ra's henchman. They often wear tan militaristic uniforms, and though it is a bit of a stretch, they are simply too good not to display. What do you think? It won't certainly look bad. I guess you'll just have to see how good it looks when you try it. Quote
Batbrick Posted May 12, 2008 Author Posted May 12, 2008 Yeah, but I read War Games before I read TLH. You fool! TLH is the best! Aren't you lucky I recommended it? Seriously though, some of the best stories don't even have the rogues gallery in them, like Year One. I tend to just let characterisation come out in the writing, rather than put it there. If it happens, it happens. He wants a few character sketches before he reads any further though, so as not to get confused as to who characters are. The main cast is approaching 20! Yeah, I do that a bit, but I tend to create a story that will allow it too. 20 eh? Just make sure you never have them all in one scene, that'll be confusing! Oh no you won't! You gave me dibs on Matches, just because I was the first one to post the idea. Fair enough, I'll pm it to you then, how about that? The Agents sets are looking wonderful for hairpieces too, the brown ponytail will become Talia's hair for me I reckon. It won't certainly look bad. I guess you'll just have to see how good it looks when you try it. Good point, I hope they look good as they are too good not to display, plus Tales of the Demon and a few other stories often have his men wearing desert uniforms with a few stuff. Batbrick Away! Brainbox Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Aren't you lucky I recommended it? Indeed, I am. Yeah, I do that a bit, but I tend to create a story that will allow it too. I'm going for a 'volumes' structure, rather than small storylines. It means I can have lots of large, over-arching stories, but I do have to sacrifice some of those small, character-driven storylines. The first volume looks at the search for 'Specials' around the world, with the goodies, the baddie and a sinister organisation (there would be, wouldn't there). The second is a sort of transition volume, with smaller stories. The third is a 'virus' arc with a twist. Beyond that I'm not really sure. I've got two mini-series lined up as well. One that focuses a little more on the minor characters and supporting roles, and the other that's a tribute to the Silver Age. I have lots of ideas and characters floating around, but most are somewhat out-of-context. I've got my friend interested in a little guest-writing, and I may see if anyone else fancies a bit. One of the main characters is essentially a female version of me! 20 eh? Just make sure you never have them all in one scene, that'll be confusing! Oh, God yeah. I'll have to make sure to split them up for both the talky scenes and the battle scenes. the brown ponytail will become Talia's hair for me I reckon. Nah, mine's staying on the Agent. She's hot! Btw, I finally bought BTAS Vol 1 on Saturday. I've only managed to watch 'On Leathery Wings' but I'm enjoying it. Unfortunately, it's been added to the DVD backlog that's developed. Seriously, I've got loads of DVDs I need to watch. Quote

Sounds much like a combo of X-men and Heroes (compliment btw ). If I ever wrote a story it'd be less in line with heroes (surprise!) and more with darker "real world" or fantasy world stories. I love writing dark stories, not as in killing or gore or sex or anything, but just bleak and pessimistic in tone If you ever get that issue finished would you please scan it on here? I have lots of ideas and characters floating around, but most are somewhat out-of-context. I've got my friend interested in a little guest-writing, and I may see if anyone else fancies a bit. One of the main characters is essentially a female version of me! So basically she's a hot girl who streams constant puns and off topicness to here enemies, killing them? Oh, God yeah. I'll have to make sure to split them up for both the talky scenes and the battle scenes. Battle scenes are incredibly hard to write, I often find using heavy alliteration, short sharp sentences (get it? I used heavy alliteration there and - oh nevermind..) and exaggerated words help craft a great action scene. Nah, mine's staying on the Agent. She's hot! Are you buying all the sets? If you do, you get two of her! (one has a different face) So that way I keep my uber hot Agent alongside the likes Harley Quinn, Castle Princess and Irina Spalko, but still get that great ponytail piece to make a perfect Dennis O'Neill Talia. Good job! I love On Leather Wings as it was the first episode, gotta love how they made Manbat actually, well, cool The quality is better in other episodes though, that one starts with some screen fuzz correct? As for others to watch, let me warn you, being the first season some are just plain awful. Try to watch the worst ones first I say, so here they are: Batman in my Basement The Underdwellers The Last Laugh (though if you view it as a more Dick Spring inspired Joker like in Christmas with the Joker like I do - lovable!) The Forgotten and a couple of others. The great ones in my opinion are the Two-Face two-parter, On Leather Wings, Feat of Clay two-parter, It's Never Too Late, Heart of Ice, Appointment in Crime Alley, Beware the Gray Ghost (Adam West voice!), Nothing to Fear and Mad as a Hatter. I also love Vendetta, Killer Croc is great. Tell me what you think of the eps once you see them then! Batbrick Away! Quote
