Posted May 16, 200816 yr It's me again, you're probably fed up with this but always save the best til almost last. 7738 Helicopter and Liferaft 7726 Truck and Speedboat 7739 Patrol Boat and Tower Edited May 17, 200816 yr by brickbitz
May 16, 200816 yr I had my eye out for one of these for a couple of months now.. and it still looks great ! I Just whished for some more picture's , starting with a closer look at the interieur and helicopterblades.. This does look like a realy good base for some very heavy mocing ! New canopy ! love that ! thanks for a great report ~! Saint
May 17, 200816 yr Thanks for these fine reviews, brickbitz. A wonderful helicopter with a great use of that big plane piece and a very useful motor feature as well. The unimog-like truck design, although a bit huge perhaps, looks pretty neat and the speedboat´s fairly detailed and I like that new zodiak piece. I wonder what kind of boats we´ll see with that one in the future.... Both sets´re very playable and charming indeed, with some interesting new parts and it´s good to see another use for these cool Barraki eyes too. LEGO at its best for sure, and this even with a tough amount of juniorization.... who would´ve ever thought so.... And hey.... car doors! Edited May 17, 200816 yr by Asuka
May 17, 200816 yr Thanks for the reviews! However, the tail rotors and the canopy are old pieces. -Chuck
May 17, 200816 yr I like the style and everything, the only flaw I can notice it the juniorization of that one-piece boat. The truck's well done, I can just sit back and appreciate that. Looks a little cartoony, but there's something I like. The helicopter is genius, the lifeboat thing being my favourite of the models. Just look at that! Orange JSF wings and a few pieces equals an amazing extra. Worth looking into, guys!
May 17, 200816 yr Author Thanks for the reviews! However, the tail rotors and the canopy are old pieces.-Chuck Damn dark ages....
May 17, 200816 yr Thanks for reviewing. I would love to see some interior pictures of the helicopter (if there's any interior?) and the way the figs are seated in front. The helicopterset actually the first set in which I somewhat like the use of that huge fuselage part. That one piece boat is brilliant for MOC'ing, I'll buy it, it looks like something like this Dutch lifeboat can be created with it.
May 17, 200816 yr Thanks for the review! Though they look a bit strange without any stickers, but i wouldn't put them on too, if i plan to use the parts for mocing. Btw., you forgot to take a picture of the nifty little Control Unit & Eqipment holder that comes with the truck. Hope to receive my sets on monday...
May 17, 200816 yr Ah, you added that Patrol Boat and Tower review.... a very neat set too. I really like that new and more bulky ship hull. I´m sure it´ll work well for MOCing. The boat looks fairly playable and detailed, especially the bridge looks great. The only little downfall, maybe, are the open sides of the lower deck, the sick bay.... I guess the designers of that ship don´t expect some stormy weather in the bathtub. It´s an interesting idea to give us a watch tower instead a perhaps more conventional station, but together with the little pier it looks pretty charming. The surfer guy and the shark´re fine additions too. Hmm.... I don´t know, but I really wish we could get some other new and useful sets within that CG line, or maybe with the City Harbor theme, in the future.... a fishing boat, a nice sailing yacht, just something to rescue beside the ordinary police and fire vessels.... I really hope that the big Cargo Liner´ll get some civil company, in the days to come....

May 17, 200816 yr Ah! Everytime I hear you guys talk about these sets, it makes me want to drool... Just like alot of you, I've been waiting since the day I heard/saw of these sets to add to my layout. To those who already have and assembled the Coast Guard sets, lucky you's... and thanks for the reviews and comments. It gives those of us who're still waiting for these sets to appear in our local stores some ideas. I was at the Lego store near my area last night, hoping they'd have these sets already... but came out empty handed. I wonder when these sets will be released in the US (west coast)? Most likely Toys R' Us will have it first in stock (more often than not). Ah!... the torture of waiting...
May 17, 200816 yr Cool sets, you made a nice review of 'em. I am looking forward to open these sets. Maybe i will buy two of the quads. Oh and .. somewhere in the review of the big boat and tower it says "A closer view of the sick bay." But you forgot to put a picture there, or atleast i can't see it. =Rupee
May 17, 200816 yr Author Oh and .. somewhere in the review of thebig boat and tower it says "A closer view of the sick bay." But you forgot to put a picture there, or atleast i can't see it. =Rupee Sadly the close up picture of the stretcher is basically the sick bay. I just called it that because presumably that's why the stretcher is in there.
May 17, 200816 yr But that picture doesn't show up. There's written "a closer view of the sick bay2 then there's nothing, and then comes the picture of the stern.
May 17, 200816 yr But that picture doesn't show up. There's written "a closer view of the sick bay2 then there's nothing, and then comes the picture of the stern. That's what i ment to say.
May 17, 200816 yr Author But that picture doesn't show up. There's written "a closer view of the sick bay2 then there's nothing, and then comes the picture of the stern. Strange, all the images are hosted via Photobucket. When I view the page they all appear okay. The code for the image link is definitely there. The odd person in the past has mentioned problems with viewing embedded images from Photobucket.
May 17, 200816 yr Thanks for the fantastic reviews, brickbitz. This coast guard line is looking to be the best CITY line yet - since all of them are well designed. No poorly looking odd set out this time! (unlike in the second waves of Fire and Police - fireboat and police plane, anyone? ) I think my favorite has got to be the big set with the Boat and tower. I actually thought the tower was a lighthouse at first, and it looks like it could easily be modified into one if you got some doubles of the parts in this set. Kudos to TLC for pumping out the City goodness. Let's hear it for 5 years!
May 18, 200816 yr Does anyone know when these sets will be available in the US? I don't see them on LEGO US. I found a set on eBay but the Unimog was not included. Just a wimpy looking truck and four wheeler.
May 18, 200816 yr Am I the only one who loves the sets overall but finds the rock "base" of the lighthouse/tower way too MEGA BLOKS? It looks like something out of my sons Dragons:Fire and Ice sets. Seriously, that is taking BURP/LURP too far!
May 18, 200816 yr brickbitz thanks for the reviews, can I ask where you got your hands on them? I went searching at bluewater and they didn’t have any so was it shop@home? Overall I like the helicopter, which I think it excellent and the patrol boat, I’m prepared to forgive the rock based which I agree with tedbeard is a bit non-lego |I think these are the best boat we’ve had since the first port line in the 90’s. I’m not to sure about the truck and boat, while I really like that large boat the truck seems a bit big for me but I’ll still probably get it. Finally brickbitz thanks for doing these great reviews so quickly.
May 18, 200816 yr Author brickbitz thanks for the reviews, can I ask where you got your hands on them? I went searching at bluewater and they didn’t have any so was it shop@home? It was Shop at Home. I've heard that Bluewater are expecting stock sometime this coming week if that's any help. The rock piece isn't too bad, I believe it comes from some Bioncle playsets, although it obviously would have been better with a nice constructed cliff . They had to reuse it somewhere.
May 18, 200816 yr Thanks for the heads up brickbitz i'll have another look towards the end of the week.
May 19, 200816 yr Could you take a Pic of the Canopy top off with the Chairs and Computer (If there is one?) and mabye the Inside of the Heli? Also how many Studs/Room is there once you have taking out the Strecther and the Winch thing? Thanks Edited May 19, 200816 yr by Joey Lock

Seriously, that is taking BURP/LURP too far! Actually, I quite like it. It's no worse than the giant one piece baseplates with rocks molded on - and they both are great for building things on. BTW - it's actually not a brand new piece. We first saw it in 2006.
