I've been looking at my Grave Stone Ghost Train collection over the past several weeks thinking, "I wonder how many others have stuck to a similar theme or place when building MOCs"? I've seen a few of the same worlds on EB over the past few years from the same builders and am sure that others of you have had ideas to create a world/place that combines several like-themed MOCs.

In addition to Grave Stone and my Indy Jungle Adventure, I've always wanted to build a "Dark City"; something along the line of Batman's City of Gotham.

Share your worlds and fantastic places here, perhaps even a picture or two of your fantastic/mythical places.

Great idea for a thread TheBrickster (though maybe this would be better suited in Lego discussion?). I myself am constantly adding to my Batman world, almost to the point of murderous insanity:

Dreadfully sorry about the giant pic, it is a bit opld as much has been added. I now am also making an Indy based diorama that doesn't involve scenes from the movies but instead my own creations from "in-between" adventures. Here is a pic of pieces I plan to integrate:

Hope you like it, as it is quite into it now.

Oh, and TB, I think a Dark City would be great, so long as you made it a different style from Gravestone. I reckon a German Expressionist or 40's noir style would be fantastic :sweet:

I just stick to my Castle display, which currently only consists of sets and a few MOCs, however in future I wish to build scenery out of Lego as opposed to the top of the table.

However if I were to build a MOC display thing, it would have to be post-post Apoc themed. Hmm, maybe I'll expand on that when the fantasy Castle theme finishes.

I've got a market street set up.

And I've got a viking village that is waiting for me to get motivated to do my next JT story.

Great topic! I'll be back to add some more in depth thoughts...

I am currently building in my MOCtale world. Before that I was building a model for each of the castle factions. I am now a little more story driven (one of my other hobbies is writing) and am toying with the idea of publicly fleshing out one of my lego worlds.

God Bless,

Nathan

I actually am thinking about creating a theme about the elements. you know, earth, wind... fire (lol). Ive been creating a lot of plain, single colored figs. currently, i have an all black fig (representing darkness with sythe in hand and a black hood), a brown fig with a turned-around torso so only the front is plain, while the back is a jedi robe, representing earth with a rock raiders creature and vegetaion growing out of the pair; a red fig (also with a turned around torso and head) that represents fire with flames shooting out of its hands and a red exo force hair piece; and a green one (not completly plain, with leg and double sided torso decals) that represents wind with a green cape (he can fly).

So how does it sound? a bit childish?

EDIT: Thank you, TheBrickster. i can be a little bit of a nature boy... i think about the elements quite alot actually... and how everything has an opposite. (light to dark, fire to ice or water, or earth to wind).

I've got the complete collection from the 1st series, but am very disappointed with the 2nd collection. In fact, I don't plan to buy any of the sets with other great items from Lego currently. Buildings strunctures like the Asylum and the Batcave make a city possible - but too many vehicles now. One would need their own collection of black and grey to make something to house them all in (or at least something to provide a city/backdrop for them). I see you have the Asylum, which is by far my favorite from the Batman sets.

Definately. Grave Stone is Wild West. The Dark City I had in mind would be more along a Gotham style. 40s Noir - interesting (Call of Cthulhu comes to mind, but more along the 1920s). I like the thought of detectives finding mystery, mayhem, and even the supernatural.

Scenery out of Lego as opposed to table top? I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean scenery on the floor? A large Post-Apoc world would be very interesting.

And I've got a viking village that is waiting for me to get motivated to do my next JT story.

Excellent! I haven't seen much with Vikings lately. The new Castle sets seem to have quieted the Viking MOCs. A Viking Village tabletop would make for a great diorama.

Norro: I'd love to see a collection of each of the castle factions. That would make an awesome tabletop display - and a large one to.

Excellent idea! I don't think it sounds childish at all; on the contrary, very creative and original. Not to take away from any of the other great tabletop displays like Castle, City, Jungle, etc, but your idea is very original and I don't recall seeing anything like this before. These are the worlds that are most interesting. I hope you build it and please share images if you do.

Great ideas everyone!

If I had enough funds, bricks and room, I would happily create a sprawling legoverse.

For the time being however, I have to make do with setting up small scenes. I always run out of plates (green especially) from creating detailed scenery.

Well my city isn't really based on one thing, you could tell from this terrible pics I have..

I've made a couple of muslim/Saracen warriors from my KK1 and ninja figs, with a scimitar and Quirrell's turban added for the flavour  . Maybe i'll make some nice crusaders with my crownie soldiers :sweet: .

I agree there are far too many vehicles now, I really want to see the balance the originals had. But yes, the asylum is awesome.

Love the idea, noir can be used quite effectively in such a setting. Or maybe you could even go further back if you wish for a Jack the Ripper or Sherlock Holmes style story?

Supernatural would work good too, as long as it wasn't as obvious and present as Gravestone, to add to the mystique.

i made a few more...

Grey- Time: speeds, slows, stops, and minipulates time with grey hair and beard with grey staff.

WHite- Light: controls light. white rebel helmet w/o visor and trans-neon green spear.

...thats all for now, folks. what really decides which colors and elements i make is the heads. im not making a yellow guy, either, because then it would just be a naked guy. plus, theres no element for it. anyways, i need a blue head. anyone know where i can get one in a recent set? and how about more elements? so far ive got Fire, (soon to be) water, wind, earth, dark, light and time. hmm... purple=gravity? too bad i lost my Stan Shunpike fig... any ideas?

EDIT: ill post pics sometime next week.
