Hinckley Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 I've designed this Miner fig to go with an upcoming project. I enjoyed putting this one together and hope to make several variations before I'm through. This is meant to be printed on any lighter neutral color: tan, white, light grey, dark tan, light blue, etc... The details won't show up on darker colored torsos... Front I didn't do a great job with the application of these. The process is correct, but the placement has a lot to be desired. The red line across his waist is a fold in the smaller decal. The suspenders didn't quite line up, and on the back... Back Ooops! I didn't line these up right at all. In the future I know to apply the decals with the two pieces interlocked. Live and learn! Please feel free to leave feedback. I look forward to hearing what you think. Thanks. Quote
Atoll Dweller Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 That's very good! So I'm guessing you used waterslide decals, seeing as you can't fix the alignment? Quote
Hinckley Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 That's very good! So I'm guessing you used waterslide decals, seeing as you can't fix the alignment? I do. Usually I can slide them around but I applied them separately when I should have kept the legs and torso together to make sure I had the alignment right... Quote
Shadows Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Ok, seriously dude, get out of my brain. Back when Klaus-Dieter posted his miners, I had the idea of converting Belloq to a miner with suspenders. I did a couple of experimental ones but couldn't get the suspenders to my satisfaction, so I put them aside to come back to later. I'll show you those now... Clearly, you got the suspenders right, which is where I was stuck, but I like my collar overlap more. Either way, GET OUT MY BRAIN! Oh, and nice job. You could have switched to black legs and hidden your misalignment, but you didn't. I respect that. That's even the hat I was going to use. Yes, the black one, as opposed to the more common brown one. Jerk. Quote
Hinckley Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 Ok, seriously dude, get out of my brain. ...Jerk. Now I hate myself. I will combine the best of both decals and add an overlapping collar to mine. Thanks! I grabbed that hat at the last second. I plan to get some of these: and chop the bottom part off so it's just the "hat" part. Quote

I plan to get some of these: and chop the bottom part off so it's just the "hat" part. That's a good plan. You'll have a miner and I'll have a prospector, once I steal the bottom of your suspenders now that I have a brilliant idea how to finish off those suspenders! Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Excellent Miner Hickley. I love the custom suspender torso. Looks great. I'm also looking forward to your new MOC. Any hints? Quote

Stash2Sixx Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Looks just like a real pan-handler. Very nice! But now, you gotta rub some 'stank' on him. If he's out in the sun all day workin', or in the mine sweatin', I'm gonna bet he doesn't really find the time to bathe? Quote
Hinckley Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 Yes! I do need stank versions. Good point. Thanks! Quote
Stauder Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 It's a great fig, but instead of massacering a bunch of helmets, why not just use this part? My 2 cents. Stauder. Quote

Shadows Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Not to hijack your thread, but since you stole the idea out of my head, I'll just post my final results here until I do a big Wild West extravaganza and post them all together. I know that you don't mind a bit. I went with the simpler, no hips method, having the suspenders sort of just end at the top of the legs. I think this is what LEGO would do themselves. It's a bit cheaper, but easier to apply. Images are links to the full size (600dpi) decal. One day I'll do some plaid and maybe some military style variations, just not here. Oh, and shut up Staudie. Shadows Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 No problem! However, I don't like the buttons floating at the bottom of the shirt like that... I was going to complicate it by adding a very small amount of pants, but then people are stuck changing colours. Why oh why can't people wear a belt AND pants? WAIT! A tool belt! Nah. Quote
highlandcattle Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I would use the new crownies version of the helmet instead of the dark grey one. In old pictures those helmets are often shiny Quote
