Batman theme in 2009

With the Dark Knight coming out next month and the LEGO Batman video game coming out in September, Batman - especially the LEGO version of himself is going to be very popular going into 2009.

What would you like to see LEGO produce for the Batman theme next year?

I would like to see them focus more on buildings and less on vehicles. I'd like to see a hideout for Joker, the Riddler, or Mr. Freeze.

Ra's Al Ghul. He should really show up next year. Maybe the Black Mask as well.

More of the Bat Family. Batgirl, Commish Gordon, Jason Todd, and a new Nightwing with a new hairstyle. More Bat family = good.

I'd like to see some more buildings as well. Prerably some sort of bank or something that the rogues can go at, as well as perhaps a villan hideout. I'd like to see a Comish Gordon as well.

Two Face needs another set since he's only had one. I'd say it's a shoe in since Dark Knight brings him into play.

Like Batbrick said, some more variant Batsuits would be nice. Maybe a parachute suit (now that would be sweet) and a cold weather suit. He needs his thermals against Mr Freeze after all. Oh, and a 60s suit, complete with blue/pruple two-tone and drawn-on eyebrows...

It doesn't really have a defined design, but it tends to be a bit bulkier than a normal Batsuit, with some sort of parka-like top half. The suit may even be white, to allow for snow camouflage, but isn't always.

Great choices. I have some great ideas on what they could do for each of them, if they made new sets over the next two years:

Two Face and Bane - Gotham Bank robbery, with Two-Face, henchmen, a new bane figure that is bigger and pumped up, Batman, and BATGIRL!

Killer Croc - You know what, a croc mobile would be really funny. It could be an amphibious vehicle that has a crock head and a green, black, and lime color scheme. And Robin could be chasing in a little jet car - the Robinmobile!

Poison Ivy - Gotham Police HQ, with Poison Ivy taking it over and holding Commisioner Gordon and the cops hostage. Robin and Batgirl could team up, and for vehicles there could be a couple bikes for the heroes and a police car or two.

Catwoman - How about a little boat with a cats face, with Batman chasing in the Bat-Jetski? That would be pretty good.

Harley Quinn - Released with Joker and some joker goons in a giant Joker clownhouse. There would be room for all of joker's crazy stuff, like giant playing cards and jack in the boxes - and there would be lots of play features. Oh, and Batman, Robin, and Batgirl would be in it as well.

Definitely agreed on the Buildings (especially the bank) and another set for Two-Face. No more for him after that though, I think two is enough

Oh, of course. We simply must have Stately Wayne Manor. As long as they include all the different media Batcave entrances that is. The Batpoles behind the bookcase that are operated by the hidden button in the Shakespeare bust, the lift shaft inside the iron maiden, the rotating wall panel, the bookcase that opens when a sequence of piano keys are pressed, and the clock entrance that opens by turning the hands to 10:47 (the time Thomas and Martha Wayne were killed). Oh, and the service elevator for Alfred.

I think Ra's might be a better option for this set, as he has a bit of a history where breaking into the Batcave is concerned.

Great idea, it would certainly complete the "Submarine" trilogy, but I'd prefer to get his club, the Iceberg Lounge, that would be the best thing ever

I don't have too detailed ideas like you other guys/girls in this thread, also I barely know a bit about the batman universe (I am still surprised what kind of villains exist, never heard of the hammer girl anyway).

BUT in my opinion lego is not doing it in the right way, it just doesn't adapt the feeling of what batman means to me. It should be more dark and less focused on vehicles (I know it's what kids want, but even Indy has great playsets). The vehicles are way too big, ridiculously big. It is just too much, an overflow of power and impression. The first penguin sub was perhaps one of the best vehicles lego came out with in the past 5 years, the newer one doesn't catch the feeling of mistery, darkness and well.. "legoism". Batman always meant something like "film noir" to me, like Sin City. Dark, ironic, comic-like and with a stark focus on the city itself. The first sets captured that feeling more than the later ones, also there is a lack of quality when you compare them to SW or Indy (due to the smaller turnover perhaps). Also the short movies of the first sets gave a darker and therefore better feel of Gotham City and the whole theme, an atmosphere that the trailers of the new videogame weren't able to provide.

It would be nice to have smaller vehicles (not bikes and buggies but real vehicles in lego scale, like the Indy vehicles), darker atmosphere, city impressions (playsets) and better detail and quality.

That's just my opinion or wish, easy to see that lego tries to change the line in a complete different direction, due to poor sales obviously.

-maybe something like the "battlepacks" in star wars: a "villains" pack, a "heros pack", a pack where Alfred, Bruce and Robin (in real) are, and a "police"pack with gordon, the policeman whos always nerved by batman^^, and some other policemen.

but i don't want guys from the DCU like nightwing... they don't fit to this...

I would love it if they'd make a set from Mask of the Phantasm, especially of the fight between the Joker and the Phantasm in the Gotham World's Fairgrounds.
