Sandy Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 (edited) Welcome to a tour around the town of Blockward, Brickland. You can see it in action in the upcoming chapter of my photocomic, Princess Quest, only here on Eurobricks forums. Bear in mind that although the town is medieval, it's located in a fantasy world, so it's not historically accurate. It's also used as a setting, so don't expect to find realistic houses with things like four walls. First up, we have an overview of the whole town: The square is the center of the town (note the fountain made by a famous ogre sculptor): A witch offers her clairvoyant services to a noblesman: A troll matron with her guardian, and a wagon with troll peasants: At the edge of the square lies the Great Brickwall, marking the border of Brickland and Tiamat Badlands (note the crests of both nations). Two fierce Dragonwarriors enter through the gate as we speak: Opposite to the Great Brickwall we have a composition of a warehouse, a stable, and a smithy: The ground floor from the back, with a horsey and a few workers: The smithy, with the famous dwarven blacksmith and his assistant. The dwarf's habitation lies on the top floor: Next to that house, there is the inn: A popular tavern is on the ground floor of the inn: And several rooms of varying quality lie on the upper floors: And next to the inn, there is a white-walled Temple of Love: Two Priestesses of Passion are chatting inside, waiting for customers... I mean, believers: All the interiors of the houses in one picture: Moving on, we come to the sinister mansion of the ruler of the town, Duke Bley (note the recurring wolf motif): Here's the dukes ferocious pet wolf, Fenrir, along with a beggar troll on the back. Please don't feed the wolf or the troll: And the duke himself, talking to his wife, Duchess Margarita: The duke is surrounded by his loyal Wolf Brigade, separate from the Royal Guards: A mighty statue of a black dragon is erected on top of the mansion. Don't worry, it's not real!: As we reach the conclusion of our tour, the whole population of the town has gathered to greet us. One of them will join Princess Beatrix on her quest in the next chapter, but I'll leave it at that: A final glance at the border town: Hope you've enjoyed the tour, and we'll be expecting to see you back for Princess Quest Chapter IV: Passings! - Your Hostess Sandy Edited July 15, 2008 by Sir Dillon Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Very nice;ok, just to clear this up: the ogres are not considered evil? How can they cohabit? Anyways, I love this little town! It functions as great setting, and by itself is quite amazing. Good job! Quote
Sandy Posted July 12, 2008 Author Posted July 12, 2008 Very nice;ok, just to clear this up: the ogres are not considered evil? How can they cohabit? That's right. The trolls and ogres are allied with humans and dwarves and elves in the Princess Quest universe. I don't like to label an entire race as good or evil - but they all have their bad seeds, so it's not a fluffy rainbow world either. As a side note, there will be more races and tribes featured as the story progresses. Thanks for the loving, anyway! Quote
GloriusShadow Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 good to see a sheFOL! Klaus-Dieter Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 That's a great MOC, Sandy! Despite from that fantasy stuff which I don't like it's really nice! I mainly those medieval buildings with their nice interior . And nice to see some old, classic Castle minifigs ! Very well done! Klaus-Dieter Quote
Basiliscus Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 (edited) I like the statue a lot (the one with the troll club) and I think you've captured the atmosphere of a busy (fantasy) medieval street well. Keep up the good work! Edited July 13, 2008 by Basiliscus Quote
Dovchenko Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 This seems to be your strong point... making villages and scenes like a movie almost. I love the buildings and just the overall look of the town... rugged and small but a true society... I especially like the neat stories you've made for nearly every single fig here. Well done. Quote

I love these houses! I think it's cosy over there!! Read the latest chapter of Princess Quest (link in my signature) to find out just "peaceful" the town really is. Quote
iamded Posted July 19, 2008 Posted July 19, 2008 (edited) This is a very cool village, Sandy, the building are great, and it's awesome to see interiors as well. I love the diversity of figs too, the lack of racial stereotypes (i.e. Trolls being evil, Humans being good) is a bonus and makes things all the more interesting. The inn would have to be my favourite building. I think it's the roof, that dark brown looks great. The Dukes house looks formidably evil, I'm surprised no ones realised this yet... Great job, looking forward to seeing more from you. ~Peace Edited July 19, 2008 by iamded Quote
