LuxorV Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 So, after a long time, I'm back to mecha-building again. As the title says, I made a promise long months ago. I promised BatBrick I would have tried building a non-bipedal mech. Now, after many other projects and a long reflection about the design and techniques, here it is: the MetaMantis. Basicaly, it's a big self-aware mech in the form of a metal mantis I know it has some flaws, like the color scheme (a bit eclectic) and the joins (which are mostly in full view). But everything has its reason: the color scheme was imposed by my pieces availability, and I like the joins to be visibli because this way it looks more insectile-like to me. This does not cover all its flaws, I know. I'll be waiting for your comments to discuss the rest with you Here is the gallery (when public). LuxorV Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 Wonky colours aside, you've done a brilliant job, LV. I like the main body especially. As for flaws....don't real mantis' have antena? Quote
TheBricker Posted July 21, 2008 Posted July 21, 2008 A nice little mecha you've built there. It have a really nice shape and looks playable, too. The only one thing that I don't really like are the white parts on the legs. I think a other color would be fit better. Maybe black or yellow. But I don't know if the parts are available in these colors . Anyway, a great mecha. I'm looking forward to more mecha MOCs from you Quote

I knew I was forgetting something, when shaping the head Well, anyway, thanks for the comment A nice little mecha you've built there. It have a really nice shape and looks playable, too. (I think we never met before ). You can find more mecha MOCs by me in my BrickShelf folder (mainly Exo-Force styled); just use the link in my sign . As for the color of the legs... well I don't know if those pieces are available in black or yellow; what I know is I only have them in white . It was these or very blocky and shorter legs. So I chose these LuxorV Quote
NewRight Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Nice creation LuxorV, but as other have said the wacky colors are off putting(a.k.a the yello and bley)I like how the shape is and the legs look amazing. Quote
Siegfried Posted July 22, 2008 Posted July 22, 2008 Well that's something you don't see everyday! Good to see you back in the saddle again! Quote

Thanks, NewRight The yellow claws are meant to be made of a kind of special alloy... Well that's something you don't see everyday! Good to see you back in the saddle again! Thanks, Sinner! And thanks for indexing it. I'm counting on you indexing all of my older MOCs soon, then (If you want, I can do the hard work and PM you the links to the original threads ). LuxorV Quote

I'm counting on you indexing all of my older MOCs soon, then (If you want, I can do the hard work and PM you the links to the original threads ). Not a prob. I'm doing them all in reverse order while keeping up with current ones. Where I am up to is shown in the index. Quote
Batbrick Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Great job luxorV! Thankyou very much for remembering this, and I love oyur concept. Sure as other and yourself have mentioned the colours are al ittle off, but overall you have nailed the idea of a multipedal mech, I love the different poses this badboy makes Batbrick Away! Quote
LuxorV Posted July 25, 2008 Author Posted July 25, 2008 Not a prob. I'm doing them all in reverse order while keeping up with current ones. Where I am up to is shown in the index. Ok, thanks again Great job luxorV! Thankyou very much for remembering this, and I love oyur concept. Sure as other and yourself have mentioned the colours are al ittle off, but overall you have nailed the idea of a multipedal mech, I love the different poses this badboy makes Batbrick Away! Thanks for passing by, BatBrick Yes, I'm really happy with what I got. I started with a somewhat foggy idea of the legs and body and, while building, it shaped itself. I'm always surprised by the way your pieces availability can determine the shape of your creations (not to mention their color )! LuxorV Quote
